Great video man! Asano was using Unreal Engine like this for years throughout the produciton of Dead Dead Demons and has just gotten crazier as time goes on. Highly suggest checking out those documentories cause it's super cool to see how he used 3D assets, photos, drone footage and other non-traditional means to create his series.
Asano realized pun pun was impossible to put in a movie or get merch from it as easily as with DDDD or Mujina so he decided to create more "cinematic" mangas. Now that im in Japan i could get this manga as a souvenir.
@@TheNerdLounge yes, I am in Tokyo, there's a very good shop called Village Vanguard, it's like a chain. So there's a Tokyo area called Shimokitazawa, there's the only village Vanguard where you can find many inio asano's merch and his new manga and the rest of them 😊
@@TheNerdLounge well it's my second time here, I barley do any effort because I have a Japanese girlfriend that can take me places so it's very good so far haha. Please come back here, especially Tokyo or Osaka, very good places. Greetings from your European neighbour from Spain 😊
From the future- Started reading MITD, this week after completing DEDEDDDEDEEDEDEDE (idk how many "DE" are in the title). Previously, I've read, in rough order, Solanin, Oyasumi PunPun, Girl at the shore, What a wonderful World, and a couple others of Inio Asano's works. But reading Mujina.... For me, it was a jarring tonal shift and I was ALL for it!
I think the mannequin usage is to make the action scene more accurate on pose, scoring, etc. As we know sometimes shonen manga, the character have some off articulation etc
I think you got it wrong. The use of unreal engine and 3d CG is his design and art choice not for time management , in his interview, he said clearly that he can draw two panels each day but making the same scene in CG , takes almost a month. Asano is an experimental genius, he likes to experiment things , for now , it's quite time consuming and hard to make characters and fight scene in CG but stability ai and many other companies are working on CG using gen AI. The goal is ofc not to make the similar blunder of 3d anime like berserk episodes but rather use them as sampling method just like a dj use it to remix , Asano also does the same , he makes reference architecture, particularly for the places which can't be taken high quality images , and also he made digital sampling much more famous too for background making.
Oh wow this is really interesting! I made this video a while back when there wasn’t much information (I think I also missed that interview if it was out at the time). Thank you for the insight!
You should pick up My Hero Acadamia Team Up Missions! They're just short little side missions that the students go on. They're more on the casual side of reading, but they're still fun!

Oh amazing! Thank you for the info, I’ll be sure to check them out!

That’s an interesting theory! You’re in Japan right now? I hope you enjoy!

Love that man! I’ve also read a few of his works and Mujina is something refreshing and different!
@TheNerdLounge I read the 1st chapter and thought, "this needs an anime!"
Proceeded to do a search for one.
But sadly... I was disappoint.
Give it time, it’s only a new series!

I 100% agree with you - that’s also the impression I got!

Are these on the Shonen Jump app?
@@TheNerdLounge Not too sure, I just have them physically. I would assume they would be
That’s more if he even likes the series to begin with especially nowadays
Nice video! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
