My Husband loved listening to these GM trains while waiting to unload wheat at the Cummins Silos. They usually started loading mid afternoon to take the grain to Port Lincoln. Sadly they are no longer operating from there. Even back in the 70's you could stand in the main street of Cummins and listen to them.. GM1 used to be there.
Great vid, thanks for sharing!! I love hearing the same GM engine working that I heard at my grandparents place in FP9's at grandparents place in Ontario in the 1970s.
Thank you for another amazing high-quality video. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with an amazing 2025 ahead of us and more of your fantastic videos.
No no no! The GM loco units were produced in Granville NSW under licence for GM locomotive USA in the late 50's to be used on the Transline between Port Pirie and Kalgoorlie, nothing to do with V/Line, V/Line had double cab end streamliners purpose built for them but that was later on.
Hi Matt hope you had a good festive season ,,the Video is super mate ,,I don’t think I ever got 8locos on the south line ,,I got 9 locos from Alice Springs train hooked up with P M 5. Any way good catch mate stay safe cheers 🙏❤️👍🚂🇦🇺
Great capture (how did you know about the Balhannah movement in advance it was it luck?) and well produced! I don’t suppose you know what was wrong with the wagon that was detached? 🤔
Thanks mate! I saw a post of the GM & ALF heading light engine through Blackwood. Knew they'd be heading for Balhannah as the wagon had been there for a few days. That post must've helped a few, as there was about 20 people watching the shunt lineside.
dit.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0006/1426857/Mount_Barker_and_Adelaide_Hills_Transport_Study_Report_02.pdf Rail mentioned throughout the study but from PG135 onwards, is where they talk about each option. In my opinion it's a very lazy study, with no stations between Adelaide & Mount Barker considered but I suppose it's a start.
@@MS_Trains , they spent a lot of time talking about roads. i found the rail studies as you indicated. i punt for option 5. that is standard gauge all the way. it really will work out easier and cheaper than other options. it really would be foolish to unconvert track to bg or build more bg. us sensible people still need to be worried about the stupid options being implemented. and seriously, they dont really need to buy new trains. i dont know about recent purchases but sa has been buying stuff that is gauge convertible for decades so for the purposes of getting it running they can just convert some existing rail motors.
Thumbs up as always! 😄

Beautiful engines aren't they! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed.
Beautiful footage of beautiful locomotives great work mate
You make fantastic videos and the quality is absolutely amazing probably the best ever quality I’ve seen in a train video!
Appreciate that! Glad you like the effort that goes into these. Have a great new year.
Great video and nice with GM :) Greetings from Denmark where we have Nohabs running with GM engines also :)

Thanks mate! Happy New Year to you too.
Awesome Video I caught ALF22 and GM37 towing the wagon past Islington 😀 and I did see C502, C508, C503
Great mate! Glad you're getting all the good stuff.
Thanks!
Jesus, those guys at SSR have an insatiable appetite for anything ex-V/Line. They won't stop until every V/Line loco is back in their hands.
We just know good loco’s when we see them 👍
And to think, 25 years ago, the C Class had no work... How times change.

@ Good to know - cheers!
that looked so odd with 2 huge locos , towing one single wagon 🤣🤣🤣🤣 would have been a cream job for the loco crew ..

how did they manage to vandalise that poor wagon in the siding?
It was left there for a few days out in the open.
