- Join us for a walk in Ilfracombe, Devon, UK. We start our walk by the Landmark Theatre with it's interesting and unusual double conical design. We walk to Ilfracombe Harbour where we see Damien Hirst’s statue Verity standing guard at the entrance surrounded by dramatic clifftop scenery.
Ilfracombe is a seaside resort on the North Devon coast, England, with a small harbour surrounded by cliffs. There are many private charters, sea cruise and coastal tour boat operators sailing from Ilfracombe harbour. A seasonal passenger ferry, operated by MS Oldenburg, connects Ilfracombe harbour to Lundy Island. Pleasure boats, including MV Balmoral and PS Waverley, operate seasonal cruises from Ilfracombe, including crossings to Porthcawl.
The South West Coast Path connecting Minehead in Somerset to Dorset, via Land's End, passes through Ilfracombe town from Hele Bay to Lee Bay via Ilfracombe Harbour.
Verity is a 2012 stainless steel and bronze statue created by Damien Hirst. The 20.25-metre (66.4 ft) tall sculpture stands on the pier at the entrance to the harbour in Ilfracombe, Devon, looking out over the Bristol Channel towards South Wales.

Some people like the tranquility
Good to see my old hometown in the sunshine. Promenade and harbour area is not too bad but the high street looks very sad and shabby with all the closed stores. Hopefully things will pickup some day but a lot of small seaside towns are suffering.

I've been there a few times the first being a working holiday at my Nan's sisters bed and breakfast for 6 weeks in the school holidays decades ago. It's changed a lot.

WOW, thank you, I got to see the house I was born in and the place I lived for 2 years when I left home, opposite the Royal Britannia Hotel. So many memories.
I think the seagull opposite Maddy’s Fish and chip shop was the descendant of the one that stole my Ice cream when I was 7.
I have lived in Thailand for the last 30 years so not going to visit Ilfracombe any time soon. It was a great tour, thanks again

I lived eight years in llfracombe many years ago,at that time it was a lovely place,
Yeah me too 1982-1994. Wonderful times.
The only problem is Ilfracombe is really isolated there ltd public transport. and its extremely rare to get a day with blue sky.
When I go to isolated parts of the UK the last thing I want is more of the general public bussed in.
Just got back from there lovely place but the weather was crap..
It's such a shame we're having such rubbish weather now. Doesn't feel much like summer now. Hope you still managed to have a good time. Thanks for watching 🙂
