I've found that people that aren't as into makeup are very loyal to products. When they find something that works, they buy it vs trying anything new. And the beauty community loves trying what's new. Naked palettes used to be $54.
I bought the original Naked palette back in 2010 or 2011 and I believe it was $44 back then! I remember thinking that was so much at the time. Prices have steadily crept up and I think we've been conditioned to think it's normal to pay $50+ for a palette nowadays (and oftentimes we purchase palettes more frequently now than 5 years ago).
Something I’ve noticed about people who have one eyeshadow palette and no interest in the beauty community is that they want a palette that they can use all of the shadows. Use up their favorite and move to the next closest color. They also like brands/ products that have been around forever because that means they will be able to repurchase it if they really enjoy it
Absolutely right! What most of my friends want is stuff that makes them look better without drawing attention and it needs to be fast and easy. Once they find what works they don’t stray because they just aren’t interested in buying something different and learning it.
I hear that a lot when I talk with some of my friends who are into makeup. Part of it is that most women don't wear dramatic eye looks to the office, or wherever they work. They want something they can do fast and easy that looks good. That is why you see a lot of natural palettes. I hear a lot of the beauty youtubers asking "who asked for this?" when a company comes out with a neutral palette, but as much as I love color, I have a ton of them. Most women don't follow "beauty trends" that change every season as much as the online community does. They're going for something for more classic and that accentuates their features easily.
Estée Lauder Double Wear, Tarte Shape Tape, It CC Cream, and powder foundations are all popular with nurses and people who work 8-12-24 hour days. They need the staying power that dewy skin products don’t deliver
I'm a nurse assistant and ELDW, Tarte Shape Tape and other ultra long wear products that can really deliver on performance was where it was at for me the last few years especially during the pandemic when we were still wearing masks
@@nicoleevaherbst7306 what powders and setting sprays would you recommend? i’m pretty oily and have problems with not sweating. also thank you for your service ❤
Naked 3 is the PERFECT starter palette for young people just getting into makeup. Parents and grandparents would feel fine buying it for gifts. I think that’s why it’s still so popular.
@@lanam6459 it is very light in colour and in pigment, worked for me because I’m very pale but can imagine the shades would be fairly useless on deeper skin tones
Kelly ,as a beauty product consumer, I can tell you that most people are very disillusioned at the high cost of palates these days. It doesn't surprise me that the tried and true , better priced palates are top selling
Also I hate when people crap on MAC! I have the connect in color Unfiltered Nudes, and it’s fantastic! I think a lot of people forget that MAC did it first. I’m Hispanic, and when the drugstore couldn’t deliver for my skin tone or darker, MAC did. I might be showing my age here, but they still make great products!
MAC isn't riding the cruelty free, clean beauty, paraben free, whatever certified bus that gets splattered all over social media for now. Perfection doesn't need gimmicks.
Tartelette in Bloom is (I think) the only palette I’ve ever repurchased. It’s not the all time best formula but it’s good and an absolute workhorse - totally idiotproof and easy to throw on for work or any sort of daily basis sort of thing. So it’s not my favorite and not the interesting new thing I play with when I’m doing a fun look, but it’s a staple.
Same here. I just recently purchased this as well and it's wonderful especially after seeing an old QVC video explaining how the pallette is supposed to be used and such a game changer for me or a real well duh moment lol. Also abh soft glam is another favorite of mine. I purchased 2 just in case they discontinued it.
Not to mention that the shades are not limited to only be used as eyeshadows but it can also be used as contour, bronzer, highlighter even blush on the face!
I have like a dozen palettes but when I go abroad I always pack it because it's travel friendly, the mirror is big and you can create so many looks with it. I love the formula, it's super easy to work with.
I don’t know if this would necessarily be a huge factor in sales of older products, but I think it’s worth pointing out that there are new consumers since a lot of those palettes came out. For example, when a lot of those palettes came out I was a teenager who had no money, but now I am 20 years old and can buy things that came out back then that I had wanted.
Also those older popular palettes have so many tutorials on them which also make it easier to know how to use the palettes. Whereas the newer palettes don’t have many tutorials since tuts aren’t popular anymore for some reason.
Yeah, same! I have dived into makeup like 3 years ago and bought abh soft glam, like, 1,5 year ago when i got better financially, because, well, everyone says it's classic, 😂 so yeah, thats kind of "i cant believe ppl born in 2000 are in college rn" thing haha /no neg
@@murrrrr12yes people will do videos of 3 looks 1 palette but it doesn't really go into technique. Also saw one for the new Natasha Denona palette and each look was pretty much the same 😂
Estée Lauder Double Wear is a holy grail foundation that is loved from the beauty community to mature ladies. Their shade range is one of the best on the market too. I keep a bottle in my stash.
In the UK Double Wear is THE No1 best selling makeup product in department stores! The second highest selling unit is Benefit precisely my brow pencil. When a brand is the first to come out with a wide range of tones in a staple product, with a reliable formula, they really reap the rewards! When testing makeup costs you money rather than makes you money, you're much more likely to repurchase your favourites!
Also for oily skin! I am 30 years old now and I tried the foundation when I was 22, right before graduation. Since then I always buy it, stocking two shades to cater my summer and winter shades as well as always stocking whenever there are sales because I will always use it anyway 😂. I will try some foundations here and there, but nothing (literally nothing) gives me a better finish + it lasts all day.
Most definitely❤ I do try others but nope this is my hg I like the matte finish it always makes my skin look flawless especially once I got color matched the " will this look good on me" days were over.
I love watching the beauty community but beauty community is more creative. Their “job” is to create great looks that are colorful and more intricate. It’s how we get entertained we like watching them but I don’t think most of try to recreate a look. I’m not surprised at any of these top sellers because most of us have a job where we can’t wear glittery and bright eyeshadow. The reason the beauty community has great comparisons of eyeshadow is because they probably got the shadows in PR. If beauty gurus had to pay for everything they got they would probably buy one of these basic palettes as well because they would want to get their moneys worth.
i think it’s important to keep in mind how many older women buy makeup but aren’t heavily online. older being a relative term and in no way insulting. anyway, there are less beauty influencers that are older and their communities that i’ve seen are smaller + mostly people not constantly online but who check in on occasion. to me it looks like some of these bestseller lists can be explained by 1. people not online all the time so they pick makeup based on friends recommendations and aren’t aware of “scandals” or “drama”. allll the moms (of middle school and older kids) i know use shape tape! 2. older make-up habits like powder foundation. that bare minerals foundation is awesome and so forgiving and it sounds like generations and generations of people have loved it so im not surprised it sells so well. this one maybe has less of an impact but people just get stuck in the makeup habits they learn as teens/young adults so i wouldn’t be surprised if old trends are still popular offline bc of that
The Too Faced Natural Eyes palette has been a repurchase for years. It’s my favorite palette of all time. Has every color I need. It’s perfect for me. As well as the tarte in bloom palette. Those are the only two I’ll ever need personally. Lol
Temptalia is a great point of reference for previous prices! She puts the price in her reviews, and doesn't change it later (as far as I know). Her review for the UD Naked 2 Basics from 2014 says it retailed for $29!
I totally get the powder foundations being so popular. When you’re a busy woman always on the go there is nothing easier to make yourself look more put together than a quick powder foundation, mascara and a lip balm
I think it's worth considering the possible impact of the Ulta 21 days of Beauty. Some of those palettes seem to be ones that go 50% off, so maybe that plays a part?
Bestsellers are based on total sales, not what is selling the most in a month. Some sites also have “what’s hot” for the week or “trending” sections but the reason why the ones we see on Ulta and Sephora seem surprising is that they’re products that launched years ago. When they came out, beauty RUclips was much more intense and it was extremely profitable back in 2016-2019. The hype for products really helped with getting viewers to buy products and newer launches have slowed, even though we have more options today than back then. The reason those products are still bestsellers is because a lot people restock them because they wear them all the time and they’re easier to gift, which is why so many people will pick them up during the holidays and for birthdays. The beauty community on RUclips still focuses on new launches, hauls and decluttering - people who don’t create content in the beauty space have no reason to buy new products to test, review and compare for value and performance. When they like something they continue to use it until they don’t like it anymore and then get something else that’s similar.
Hi Kelly! I'm a pro makeup artist from Argentina and I use Tartelette in Bloom constantly, in all my socials! It is such a good, basic palette with the perfect colors to do basic looks and start building from there. It's one of the only few palettes I would repurchase, along with the Viseart mattes palette. Great video as always!
The naked palettes were my most used palettes back when I had to wake up at 6:30am for work. My blending skills were jabbing my eyelids with the brush and I had a hard time picking complimentary shades so the Naked palettes were absolutely perfect for those early mornings. I feel similarly about the Tarte palettes
I have Naked 3 and I LOVE it! I overlooked it for a decade. I wanted a rosey palette and was choosing between Natasha Denona Retro, Huda rose quartz and naked 3. Rose quartz was too pink and Retro too red and warm (for me.) I think it sells well because there are so few cool leaning neutral palettes. It looks rosy just like my skin tone. If you get the chance to see it in person you can tell it has quite a bit of depth. That picture does not do it justice. It’s beautiful and very dimensional. I took a picture of it in the car and you can see all the multi color sparkle and it’s very wet looking on and I love that. It wears longer on me than Natasha Denona. I know it has Teflon in the formula. It was my first Urban Decay palette. I bought it just last year. It was over $50. I think it was $54 but I used a $15 off $50 coupon at Ulta. I would jump at the chance to buy a Naked, Naked 2 and Naked Smoky.
Natural eyes from too faced is my repurchased palette aside from the chocolate bar which is discontinue. Can’t find the natural eyes matte anywhere. I hit pan on almost every shade.
I had to giggle at some of the products you were surprised by because I love them so much! I wear Estee double wear. I’ve tried other things but it’s just so consistent. I’ve also repurchased Tartlette in Bloom 3 times. 😂 It meets my needs because it is compact enough for travel, has several shimmers, cool and warm browns, and the dark shades I use as eyeliner. And most importantly, it has a LARGE mirror. I’d love to know your recs for palettes with a similar color story but better formulation, same price point. But the mirror thing is still a big deal. 😂
And personally I LOVE the formula in that. It’s one of the very few neutral palettes I’ve ever tried where the colors look the same on my eyes as they do in the pan.
As far as repurchasing palettes goes, you'd be surprised! My mom's favorite palette is The Nubian from Juvia's Place and I know she's purchased it at least 4 times. She has an everyday eyeshadow look so she's constantly hitting pan on the same shades. So I could definitely see the best selling palettes being repurchases for some people. I'm on the other side of the planet though as I've only hit pan on eyeshadow twice 😂
Naked Basics used to be $27 & the Naked palettes used to be $49. I used up my Naked Basics palette completely, except the black, so I'm not surprised it's a top seller
Tartlet was my first high end palette. I think it's so popular cuz it's layout is simple for newbies to understand. That's why I was drawn to it, anyway.
I never hear anything about Mirabella cosmetics/foundations. They are mostly in salons and spas. I had my makeup professionally done at a spa for a wedding. I was the mother of the groom. :) They used all Mirabella products. I have never seen such a beautiful finish on me. The foundation was amazing. It lasted through the entire wedding day and I received so many compliments. Better than any foundation I have ever tried. I have tried so many of the most popular ones mentioned in the RUclips beauty community. I still can't get over how perfect and stunning my makeup was.
Speaking for Too Faced Natural Eyes, I love that palette personally. The packaging, the colors on my skin, it works for me personally. I don't know if it was reformulated, but I am good with it. ABH Soft Glam and UD Naked 3 work for me as well. I can see why they are still bestsellers. It may be what people wear to work or other places that are easy to reach for.
Kelly, when you say there are other palettes with similar shades, but better formula, I would LOVE to see a video on the *best* palettes you recommend. I am in the process of trying to find a high quality palette for my everyday looks, some of these older "basic" palettes are intriguing, but I wouldn't want something with a poor formula. The neutral Colourpop palettes at Target look nice, but I heard the formulas vary. I feel like when I see new palettes I'm like "oh, I have theses colors"... yeah, spread throughout 17 palettes that I won't take the time to open up for one look😆
Part of me wonders if these are bestsellers *to date*… which would explain why the older stuff is up there. Either way it would be interesting to know their ‘eligibility’ criteria for best sellers… I’m guessing it might be a combination of all time/in the last month or so
I love the Naked Basics 2 palette! It's the only palette I've purchased twice. And yes, it used to be $29. Makeup has gone up sooo much. I also purchased a Natasha Denona mini pallete recently. I remember those used to be $25, and now they are $27.
I think people still love this because Naked 3 is the first cooler toned neutral pink palette. It's my favorite of all the naked palettes ❤. Urban decay is the first company that started the palette frenzy and Tarte was one of the first companies that used less junk in their ingredients so they were the cleaner brand back in the day before clean makeup was even the thing!
In Bloom was one of my first palettes ever and used it to learn how to blend eyeshadow. I remember being so speachless when I started getting good and how beautiful the palette is in how the colours blend and compliment each other. happy to see it's still a contender.
I still have the too faced naturals palette and the natural mattes! I just took them out the other day. I would always get compliments when I’d wear them. The mattes palette had the perfect neutral tones of browns.
I have tried sooooooo much makeup and will 💯 repurchase naked basics and Naked 3, the colors are perfection and I still get crazy compliments when I do my eyes with these, I really dislike the tartelette palates
I’m a basic girl but I find it kind of funny the beauty community went nuts over palettes like ND Circo Loco (which was literally clown themed) but slams Tarte. Which one do you think more people own and actually use?
Right? I've seen the ND Glam palette get slammed as "boring" but then I got presented with these "amazing" limited edition neon palettes that have to be ordered online as opposed to just going to Ulta or Sephora and swatching the actual product. Not to dis anyone's style or look, but it's not exactly a mystery what sells better.
Everything I saw about circo loco was critical. Most of the beauty influencers didn't like it and rarely have it when ranking Natasha denona palettes. I know for sure cuz I sought out every review I could before buying it cuz it was so expensive even on sale. It's still my fave palette. But I genuinely understand how it's not super usable for everyone.
I still use and love the Tarte in Bloom palette. I find cool-ish toned neutral palettes are still rare at Sephora, they all seem to lean heavy on the warm side.
My bet for the pretty rich palette is that its a good second palette to use with your everyday neutral palette. Lots of fun shimmers that can be used as an accent.
I still love MAC, especially their blushes and lip liners They have an extensive range of formulas and shade range in all their products. The MAC Connect in Color palettes are a pretty new release for MAC. It's on their new releases page and I want to say the collection came out within the past couple of months. Tati has recently been raving about one of the palettes in this collection, I haven't purchased one yet, but I've been thinking about it, because I like a couple of the color stories. Mostly the 6 pan palettes though.
I bought 3 of these new palettes. The colours in the 6 pan ones are well selected, that they are so fun to use them. The formula in the new 12 pan ones became a lot better.
I'm actually not surprised about the Tartlette in Bloom lol. I have some friends that aren't as into makeup as me who loves that palette because it's not intimidating and it's softer color. But then again I do much bolder looks so tarte is Not for me. Lol
Haha I watch beauty content everyday and have for years….but my personal tastes are much more “not the beauty community.” The first 3 palettes you mentioned are on my short list to buy this year. They are so easy and don’t contain crazy glitter shadows- give me an old school shimmer any day 😅
Your eyeshadow is spectacular! I’m hard of hearing, so I watch mouths when people speak. I kept wandering up to your shiny eyes and having to rewind lol.
I repurchased in bloom and it’s solid. As in you can get a solid look with it and not worry too much about color combination. The large mirror is nice too
It could also be that a lot of people buy based on Best Sellers and reviews, which increases the chance of people buying it if they are not as aware of the trends.
This makeup, these pallets are easy and convenient. They simply make you look pretty quickly. Done! And I take time on myself but I’m not gonna fuss. The naked pallets are my favorite. I own the tarte one too and they are both easy. Estée Lauder double wear is my holy grail for oily skin and I want it to last. Don’t care too much about formulas because I don’t have enough to compare or to. If it lays down color-great!
I love my Naked 3 palette. It is more pigmented than you think on the darker end. It is also one of the only palettes I own that doesn't trigger my eye allergies. The Naked 3 used to be $54 and the Naked 2 Basic used to be $27. I was shocked to see the new prices on them. Edit: The MAC Studio Fix powder foundation is my favorite foundation after EL Doublewear. 😂 Love, love those two.
I’m on my second ABH Soft Glam palette. Hit pan on my first in nearly every shade, and have huge dips in this one. I have more of the recent “trendy” palettes as well, but SG is my tried and true, ride or die.
Tartlette in bloom is solid - it is the only truly neutral palette I own because I'm a colour lover, but if I want a basic neutral eye look, it's just so easy. Has a row of cooler tones, yellow tones and warmer tones. Goes light to dark. The subdued shimmers don't give fallout and never give wrinkly eyelid texture. My palette is old and still performs like new and smells of amazing vanilla (makes me happier than I thought it would). I wear 'in bloom' every time I visit my grandma because she's more into that than my acid greens and multichromes 😹
i love the tarte formula and have repurchased both in bloom and the original. the naked basics is also great, and was $28-29n when I purchased it. I have also repurchased the modern renaissance 3 times lol.
I loved my Tarte In Bloom! I used it until I ran out of my favorites from it (plus it was older). I just haven’t repurchased because I’m trying to get through all my other palettes!
I was watching this video and thinking wow your eye make up looks even better today for some reason and then you said you have gone for an all shimmer look. It looks great on you, it's really flattering!
I found my perfect foundation in Estee Lauder Double Wear. I have tried other things but don't even bother anymore. I knew it was the best selling foundation. Some influencers make a big deal about it being difficult to apply, but I just use my fingers and use aparingly and it couldn't be easier.
Tarte in bloom is my HG every day palette! I have purchased 3 and panned 2 of them. It has the basics I need when I use more exciting palettes or singles. It has perfect versatile mid tones and highlights. UD basic has also been a HG for me. I remember it being $28. I have repurchased and gifted it to family. The key to a best seller: user friendly and versatile.
Estee Lauder Double Wear is a great foundation!! I have tons of foundation bottles in my collection (Armani, Nars, MAC, Charlotte Tilbury,...) and I always repurchase Double Wear when it runs out. It is extremely long-lasting, has a great shade range, and even though it is medium-to-full, if you mix it with a moisturizer or a face oil, it can be pretty light and feel like a skin tint that lasts FOREVER. I recommend it to everyone who's not crazy into makeup, but wants to find a good foundation.
I bought the ABH soft glam palette when it launched and it still to this day is my most reached for palette, it’s so versatile! It was actually my first full size palette. I’ve accumulated a bunch of palettes over the years since then, and for the average consumer such as myself, you might just stop buying once you have enough. So as much as I’ve been tempted by newer popular products, I don’t need them and don’t usually buy them. And ABH soft glam seems perfect as a “starter” palette. So I’m kinda not surprised it’s still a best seller
I love these types of videos! Video idea suggestion - I would love a brand deep dive on hourglass. I find their website so weird when it comes to showing swatches (even at ulta and Sephora it’s so weird and hard to find what products actually look like) for the price points it’s a little sus to me (and I love the brand some of my die hard products are from them it’s just odd when you really dig into it)
Love Tartelette in Bloom. I bought it in a time when I was going through a big (positive)change in my life so it has nostalgia for me. It’s also supremely practical and cruelty free.
@@eddyaaaaaaa I feel like there just aren't that many and that's why it's still so popular. Viseart Paris Entendue maybe but I feel like it's more pink.
Real consumers, not beauty enthusiasts, are loyal. They find something they like and they stick with it until they literally don't have a choice. Lol I worked at both Ulta and Sephora.
I have both too face natural eyes and naked 3 palettes. They are absolute no-brainers when you have 10 mins to get ready. Its how approachable and simple they are that people gravitate towards them.
What my friends & I want is stuff that makes us look better without drawing attention and fast and easy. Work appropriate. Once we find what works we don’t stray because we just aren’t interested in buying something different and learning it. I enjoy trying new stuff but these older products remain in my stash, repurchasing regularly while the “better” stuff gets decluttered (yup Natasha D x 2-gone) because I don’t really use the heavier eye looks. Lol when I hear my beauty RUclipsrs rave about the rich saturated colour payoff in a new eye palette -I make a note to avoid that! 😂
Naked 3 is literally my perfect everyday palette for my skintone. I use it every single day. If I want to look my best, it's always Naked 3. And I have lots of other palettes. It just really suits my fair, cool toned skin and green eyes
My favourite and most used palettes are the soft glam and tarte heat palette. I always travel with them and they have never failed me. Tried and true. I’ve bought both those palettes as gifts for friends and family and they love them
Tartelette in Bloom is hands down my favorite palette. I have so many eyeshadows and I still find myself reaching this all the time. It's the perfect day to night palette and when I travel, this is the safest one to buy. The beauty community is usually pushing us what's new, but a lot of people choose to stick to simple and effective ones and if they work for you, why would you give that up.
The Too Faced Natural Eye palette has been around for like 20+ years, it was my first eyeshadow palette back when it was in cardboard packaging. And the Tarte face palette I got in a subscription box and I use it when I travel and need to watch my luggage weight, it's convenient.
Interesting you recommend the Natasha denona over the tarte or UD. I don't think ND is a formula a non makeup community person would like or want. It's very saturated. Ppl not super into make up, ime, aren't into formulas like that. They like a more build able, goof proof formula, which is why I think these palettes are so popular. I also think they have 1-2 palettes, use it up then repurchase bc it's familiar to them. Most of my friends have like 1 eye palette, 1-2 blushes, a lip product or two. And they buy the same stuff over and over.
I personally don’t like ND’s formula because I find it hard to work with. It doesn’t like to blend enough for me, probably due to the heavy pigmentation/saturation you mentioned… and I would rather build up my color than try to sheer something out.
The Beauty Community can’t keep pedaling out videos of the same awesome staples. It’s like watching an episode over and over. But we don’t mind buying that awesome staple over and over lol
Back in 2019 I was just getting into colorful eyeshadow and had limited experience with eyeshadow formula, at the time I owned only Makeup Revolution and Essence and a friend gave me her Naked 3 to try. The color story was perfect for what I liked at the time but I remember being so underwhelmed by the application and performance even compared to my drugstore brands. But it's easy to be satisfied with it when you don't have anything else to compare it with, especially if you buy it at Sephora for not cheap ( in my country it costs more than in the US and our incomes are smaller) and feel like you are pampering yourself with a premium product ( based on price).
The beauty community is out of touch with the reality of everyone else aka people who don't consume beauty content and arent into makeup. I'm 29 and none of my friends spend nearly as much money on makeup or cosmetics as I do. For them its simply not a priority and they just arent interested in spending time, energy or coin on it. The last time they were "exploring" makeup was back in the days when these oldies were popular. They aren't aware of hot new brands or trending products because they aren't watching these videos or perusing the Sephora app like I do. I know people who are still faithfully using MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural because that product was on trend 6 years ago when they got into makeup but they've been checked out ever since.
The Tartelette In Bloom is The GOAT! I’ve repurchased this palette over and over. I have plenty of other formulas (including Natasha Denona) and none compare. The colors are what they are - no surprises when applied. To be clear, I have tried other Tarte palettes that are not as good but this one is amazing.
I can see why these would be so popular. Good enough bang for the bug, usable everyday colours as well as some with more impact, good amount of product. I am sure many of these consumers are busy women who don't have time to put too much thought into their makeup, who just want to feel good and presentable. I personally love me a good quad, that's why I like the ones from Charlotte Tilbury and Dior.
MAC Studio Fix is amazing. I am 54 and have been buying it since my 20’s. The way I use it has changed. It comes with a sponge, toss it, it’s useless. Fluffy brush is what you want. It’s brilliantly matte without being flat or drying, works as both a foundation on its own over sunscreen OR you can use it as a setting powder. Plus, it’s portable and costs less than most liquid foundations.
I love Too faced Natural Eyes palette and Hoola lite. I'm really pale with yellow undertone and with these I can do my makeup fast and not be afraid it turns out too dark.
I bought the In Bloom palette recently just because I really love the fawny/pinky transition shades and they're weirdly hard to find without being orangey or something, I love the sort of burgundy-brown deep shade, and because the packaging is really enticing. But sadly yeah, the formula is not good at all. The mattes were super patchy and the "shimmers" were worse than drugstore before drugstore got good. -- I have the Tartlette Jewel mini palette and it performs leaps and bounds better than In Bloom. In fact the shimmers are THE best formula I've tried of any brand so far. But Tarte is acting like they're going to discontinue Jewel!!! I truly hope not; it would be ridiculous if In Bloom continued on but a genuinely good palette like Jewel bit the dust. I bought a backup just in case.
I have a hefty collection but the tartelette palette is the one I get the most use out of by a landslide and one of only 3 palettes I keep in my everyday makeup drawer. I think the matte formula is great but definitely could have better lasting power
That TF Natural Eyes is my favorite, if I can only take one palette with me, it's always this one. I was hanging on to one I bought before the NikkieTutorials/TF issue and haven't wanted to repurchase because of that. I recently found out those people responsible sold off the brand and are no longer involved, so I bought the new formulation and I love it. I think it's definitely better than the original formulation.
I've found that people that aren't as into makeup are very loyal to products. When they find something that works, they buy it vs trying anything new. And the beauty community loves trying what's new. Naked palettes used to be $54.
They were actually $49 until like Naked Heat and Smoky came along at $54.
The original Naked palette was $48 USD when it initially launched, and the Naked Basics was $26 USD.
They also like brands/ products that have been around forever because that means they will be able to repurchase it if they really enjoy it
Maybe the " beauty community" is not super in touch with the total community
Truth lol
Absolutely right! What most of my friends want is stuff that makes them look better without drawing attention and it needs to be fast and easy. Once they find what works they don’t stray because they just aren’t interested in buying something different and learning it.
I couldn’t agree with you more!!! So true!
Super out of touch!
Estée Lauder Double Wear, Tarte Shape Tape, It CC Cream, and powder foundations are all popular with nurses and people who work 8-12-24 hour days. They need the staying power that dewy skin products don’t deliver
That is too thick to be wearing everyday. I wear a light layer of concealer
@@shychick96too thick for you maybe. Not other people.
Can attest. I’ve been wearing it cosmetic cc cream and a light powder on top for years in my nursing job. I’ve tried others. They just don’t last
Naked 3 is the PERFECT starter palette for young people just getting into makeup. Parents and grandparents would feel fine buying it for gifts. I think that’s why it’s still so popular.
This. The first makeup items I got from my mom were barely there soft pinks when I was 12 or 13.
100% it was the first palette I ever loved. Have graduated to more adventurous palettes now but this will always have a place in my heart
True, very foolproof. So foolproof, it doesn’t really matter what shades you’re using. One of the reasons I got rid off it.
That’s so interesting. I am of a medium dark skin tone and was gifted many years ago. Hated it and gave it away. I was bummed!
MAC is still popular, I just saw a MAC store in an airport and it was swamped. I love their lip products personally
Their paint pots are the best for my oily hooded lids. Will never buy any other cream shadow
@@wplants9793 I love their lip products. The only lipsticks that I have found to rival them are the new ones from ABH.
Mac still makes my absolute favorite blushes! Such a variety of colors 🤩
I agree, I purchased it not too long ago on sale and I think it's great for every day.
I would totally repurchase it too. It's just practical and easy.
Nope, it's dry as a middle of Sahara. And my skin is mixed, no dry.
@@thyong24 So on point 👌. Those are exactly my feelings about the Double Wear foundation.
I still use my original ABH soft glam palette. It’s still a good formula and color story for an array of skin tones. Loved this topic!
Hi Santa 🙂
@@MsKatze Hi There!
i think it’s important to keep in mind how many older women buy makeup but aren’t heavily online. older being a relative term and in no way insulting. anyway, there are less beauty influencers that are older and their communities that i’ve seen are smaller + mostly people not constantly online but who check in on occasion.
to me it looks like some of these bestseller lists can be explained by 1. people not online all the time so they pick makeup based on friends recommendations and aren’t aware of “scandals” or “drama”. allll the moms (of middle school and older kids) i know use shape tape! 2. older make-up habits like powder foundation. that bare minerals foundation is awesome and so forgiving and it sounds like generations and generations of people have loved it so im not surprised it sells so well. this one maybe has less of an impact but people just get stuck in the makeup habits they learn as teens/young adults so i wouldn’t be surprised if old trends are still popular offline bc of that
So right !
The Too Faced Natural Eyes palette has been a repurchase for years. It’s my favorite palette of all time. Has every color I need. It’s perfect for me. As well as the tarte in bloom palette. Those are the only two I’ll ever need personally. Lol
Same!
Same!!!
Temptalia is a great point of reference for previous prices! She puts the price in her reviews, and doesn't change it later (as far as I know). Her review for the UD Naked 2 Basics from 2014 says it retailed for $29!
I believe the Naked Basics used to be $29. I remember buying it because it was one of the only palettes under $30. I could be wrong though lol.
No, I remember it like that too. It was definitely less than $30.
I absolutely remember buying it for $28 or $29. I remember being upset because one shade was chipped in mine and "it was almost $30!"
I think itsa ridiculous UD is trying to charge $60. For that price I'll go for Natasha Denona.
Wait, which one has Teflon in it?
@@cupiedoll9759 urban decay but Teflon is only harmful if ingested.
@@d.m.3133 thank you for responding and that information. 😘
Jane iredale is my favorite powder foundation and never hyped.
for me personally the naked 3 palette is my perfect neutrals. i’m very pale and the shadows aren’t overpowering on my features
Me too
Part of me wonders if these are bestsellers *to date*… which would explain why the older stuff is up there. Either way it would be interesting to know their ‘eligibility’ criteria for best sellers… I’m guessing it might be a combination of all time/in the last month or so
I’m wondering that too!! There were a good amount of recent launches up there though which makes me think it’s “best selling currently”
I use the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette all the time!! It's my go-to palette for an every day look!
I love the tartlet pallet! It’s so user friendly and all shades are wearable! That’s why it so popular
I still have the too faced naturals palette and the natural mattes! I just took them out the other day. I would always get compliments when I’d wear them. The mattes palette had the perfect neutral tones of browns.
Same
I have tried sooooooo much makeup and will 💯 repurchase naked basics and Naked 3, the colors are perfection and I still get crazy compliments when I do my eyes with these, I really dislike the tartelette palates
Yeah, this is so true!! I mean, I love colorful makeup, but I understand most consumers don't!
@@Kitti_B Thank you. I appreciate the info, especially because I haven't seen many reviews on them.
That Tartelette In Bloom will go with me to my grave! 😂
Naked 3 is soooooo gooooood. The colors and the soft formular. It makes my eyes bigger and is perfect for really light skinned blondies
I love mine too - it’s easy to put together a quick look without endless blending. And the colours always look good:
I’m on my second ABH Soft Glam palette. Hit pan on my first in nearly every shade, and have huge dips in this one. I have more of the recent “trendy” palettes as well, but SG is my tried and true, ride or die.
I love the Original Tartelette palette. It has the best shade matches for my skin tone.
Push-up eyeshadow in the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette is my favorite eyeshadow of all time, its the reason I keep buying the palette
I recently repurchased the Naked 3. I love this palette ! It’s so beautiful for everyday
i love the tarte formula and have repurchased both in bloom and the original. the naked basics is also great, and was $28-29n when I purchased it.
Not surprised by soft glam. It’s a classic and if i ever run out i will repurchase! So good
I love these types of videos! Video idea suggestion - I would love a brand deep dive on hourglass. I find their website so weird when it comes to showing swatches (even at ulta and Sephora it’s so weird and hard to find what products actually look like) for the price points it’s a little sus to me (and I love the brand some of my die hard products are from them it’s just odd when you really dig into it)
Concetta Sciolino: just search the products you're interested in and you'll find youtube reviews.
Love Tartelette in Bloom. I bought it in a time when I was going through a big (positive)change in my life so it has nostalgia for me. It’s also supremely practical and cruelty free.
I have fully panned the Natural Eyes palette TWICE and I’m considering buying a third! 🤷🏻♀️ mostly bc I need it to be mistaken proof for work
If anyone has a similar but newer option please advise! 😌
@@eddyaaaaaaa I feel like there just aren't that many and that's why it's still so popular. Viseart Paris Entendue maybe but I feel like it's more pink.
@@PoisonPearHFX You make a good point. Thanks for the suggestion--I'll avoid it since I'm not interested in more pink!
An “all in one” palette is ideal for someone trying to simplify and minimize their beauty routine, especially if you’re on a budget.
Real consumers, not beauty enthusiasts, are loyal. They find something they like and they stick with it until they literally don't have a choice. Lol I worked at both Ulta and Sephora.
You should do a dupes for best sellers video. Would love to hear your opinion on best matches in terms of color story, performance, value for money!
Me too!
Naked 3 is literally my perfect everyday palette for my skintone. I use it every single day. If I want to look my best, it's always Naked 3. And I have lots of other palettes. It just really suits my fair, cool toned skin and green eyes
Loved this Kelly!! You know how to create excellent content girl!
I have more than 100 palettes, but Tartelette in bloom is one of my favourite basic everyday palettes.
Love! I’d like to see a video set up the same but with complexion products.
Me too
My favourite and most used palettes are the soft glam and tarte heat palette.
The beauty community is usually pushing us what's new, but a lot of people choose to stick to simple and effective ones and if they work for you, why would you give that up.
i love the beauty community but i'm not into trends. but i loooove the tarte palette. i use it as an everyday palette. so cohesive colors too.
I loved the in bloom and soft glam
The Beauty Community can’t keep pedaling out videos of the same awesome staples. It’s like watching an episode over and over.
But we don’t mind buying that awesome staple over and over lol
I also dip into my Modern Renaissance palette weekly. It never does me dirty and holds up even against the newer shadow formulations!
wow! how long have you had it?
@@Emma-se5wm My second one as well! 😆
Yesss I love the original Tartlette palette! The formula and colors are really nice. I recently convinced my mom to get one :)
The Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette is one of my most used palettes 😄
Stephanie Marie recently repurchased in bloom as she loves the tones so much. I actually love the champagne shimmer in that palette
R 0291: You sound like you're an olive undertone and definitely cool toned.
I have oily skin, so I need powders! Creams just melt away, especially in the summer. There is just something so easy about a powder foundation.
I have a hefty collection but the tartelette palette is the one I get the most use out of by a landslide and one of only 3 palettes I keep in my everyday makeup drawer. I think the matte formula is great but definitely could have better lasting power
Natural eyes is an awesome palette
That TF Natural Eyes is my favorite, if I can only take one palette with me, it's always this one. I was hanging on to one I bought before the NikkieTutorials/TF issue and haven't wanted to repurchase because of that. I recently found out those people responsible sold off the brand and are no longer involved, so I bought the new formulation and I love it. I think it's definitely better than the original formulation.
I love the OG clay play palette. I use the cool tone brown in my crease. I remember the naked palette being $45 and the mini being $24-26.
