Because the game has moved on and he didnt. UFC started by bunch of guys wanting to get drunk and watch dudes fight without rules with their friends, and having someone like Mike to hype stuff up was great. However alot of people learned technical stuff of MMA since its been here for 20+ years but Mike knew nothing, he was making bad calls, bad technical commentary, and they were basically keeping him around for his punchliners. The crowd expectations changed and he no longer fit that description, nor did he try to learn and improve. Dont get me wrong tho, I love him very much as everyone does, and I still sometimes say his stuff when im watching fights like HERE WE GO or ITS ALL OVER, im just saying I understand why they let him go.

Mike and his partner always Joe Rogan, were iconic. They brought a different kind of energy than today's commentators. Besides Anik, no one compares.
