A circular saw ($30) and a drill ($30 for lithium battery powered) is all you need toolwise to make cabinets. Both at Harbor Freight. Both could likely be borrowed from a friend also.
damn. was about to start a new van build and then I saw your vids and now I need to rethink everything I planned. I was going to build from van walls in ,,,, ie insulate, furring strips, walls, interior but the way you did it make more sense.
Trying some non conventional methods, saving $ and weight. I put up upper cabinets this week, next vlog coming soon, also before van walls. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! I love the little pieces of your frame that is properly angled. NJ. I like how you tackled the upper cabinets. I will get the low roof, so mine won't be as big but i like your mounting system and that you used the holes for part of your framing. Why not use those holes! And i like using bolts. Plus unlike you I have tiny hands so i can get them in there. :-) Two questions on your windows - i want a bit of standing room so i want a longish cross wise sun roof / skylight that i can move up and down - any recommendations? Fan will be near the rear. And for a small window on the driver's side behind the driver's seat, i'll need to cut that out. I like how you showed to remove the side support, no one has shown that. I hope it's not too hard. 2nd question is will your smaller passenger side window near the rear - should work on the side behind the driver? Probably need to remove one vertical support? Will it work ok or different window? I want it to open. Probably one small hole on that side for 110 shore power. My requirements aren't too high, but i want to finish nicely, i use a router and picket screws. i am planning on getting the van next year, am planning. tia
Hey, think you could do a video on saw blades and tools? that is the first time ive seen someone specify which blade to use in your circular saw. Very helpful for noobs like me who have the skills but not every tool in the shed yet...
Hey Big Logan! Since you're my guy now, what can you recommend for the shower area to waterproof? Is there something I can use I instead of plywood or overtop of plywood?
So for Panels I used 1/4" Lowan Plywood, Shaker Frames and Face Frames were 1"x3 and 1x2 Top Choice Pine. Galley was made from 3/4" Plywood, and Overhead cabinets were made from 15/32" plywood.
Excellent question. There is a reason no pro van builder uses glue & nails for cabinet framing (except if using tenon / dovetail like assembly techniques). Even less so on butt end joints, using 1/4" or 3/8" plywood... A van on backcountry roads is like daily mini earhquakes. Fasteners should be used. He did use pocket screws, but only on the cosmetic front frame of the drawers, not on their construction. Quite backward 🤣 Live and learn...
Hey Big Logan! I just found your channel and have been getting some good inspiration for my van build that I am in the beginning stages of. I was wondering what you are using to secure your drawers and doors with? Are you just relying on the soft close mechanism to keep them in place? Thanks for making these videos!
Hey hey! Glad you found the channel! I ended up adding gas lift struts to overhead cabinets and plastic drawer locks. For sliding drawers the soft close will be plenty strong for now, time will tell if they loosen. Brand for cabinets locks are “Cranach Push Latch” and lift struts are easy to find and pick out on amazon.
@@biglogan3690 Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply! Am definitely getting the gas struts. In my last van build I relied on the soft close only to keep them in place, and it only worked on 4/8 of them. I'll check on the those push latches. Your cabinets look amazing, keep up the good work!
Great job!!! if you put on some floaters, come visit the Netherlands!!! ;-)
haha excellent idea!
Thanks for the videos Logan, really appreciate the build.
The framing looks great
really cool video BigLogan. I crushed that thumbs up on your video. Keep on up the solid work.
great build so far. cant wait till the end.
Lol I'm loving the vibe
Wow great video! You make it look easy and simpler.. I think I might try to make my own diy custom cabinets now
You are so confident man. Keep up the great work!!😄😄👍
Nice job dude!
Super helpful! Thanks.
Thanks Chadd!
*learned a lot wish I had all the tools to make cabinets like this*
Good luck Vanessa!

Dude that sink/cooktop build is on point! It's precisely what I have been looking to do. Would you mind sharing the dimensions?
Great video. Great vibe! I love that you have family around in so many of your videos. What brand brad nailer do you use?
It was part of a craftsman pancake compressor combo with pneumatic nailer, Brad nailer, and stapler. Still holding up strong!
Great job...dankeeee
Yessir
Hi can't wait to see what next!!! great job
Thanks Raanan! Hope you subscribed! Stay Tuned...
Great video and build! What corner trim did you use and what were toe kick dimensions? Thanks!
3” x 4” toe kick and 1”x1” 90 degree wood corner trim

Check out my custom shower episode 😎
Can you tell me what model Isotherm fridge you are using?
Hey I love your build and your videos and that floor. What kind s it?Thanks!
This was a thick laminate but I now moved to luxury Vinyl Planking - ProCore is my favorite to work with
Awesome video!! What type of wood did you use and what thickness? I see you used different types. Just trying to learn. Thanks!

What were the drawer slides attached to? The face frame or the box?
Box sides
Hi, Can you tell me what model Isotherm Fridge you are using? Thank you
Your build is coming along nicely. Do you have plans to add a vent or any way for more natural lighting?
Actually both! Coming soon in future episodes ;)
Love your method of building shaker cabinets! I'm interested in following the same process. What router bit are you using?
1-1/4” x 1/2” Rabbiting bit! Good luck!
why do they call you big Logan? Great builds and narration. Keep it going!!!!
Wow. You put every cabinet and drawer together with nails. Do you think that would hold well instead of screws? Time will tell.
Absolutely, ribbed finish nails and industry grade wood glue!

I’m curious why you didn’t use pine?
I used pine for the shaker fronts and 1/4” plywood for the body of the fronts.

The link to the gas cooktop is for a Natural Gas burner. Is that what you installed?
I need some work done. How can I contact you? Love your work.
