Call it what you want...but from Barbara's follow up--- undermining Star in every way (and acting shocked the day before, which says more about her, possibly)....Star seems to have done what she needed to do. Basically what happened was that the network gave Star the opportunity to say that she was leaving voluntarily, therefore protecting her from having to say she was fired, and the network would have gone along with whatever she said. She was meant to make her announcement two days later, with everything planned, but she did was announce early that she had been fired, and she made several announcements in other places of her firing as well. This made things very difficult for the network as it put them in a very bad light, which is why Barbara had to make a seemingly harsh speech to put the record straight.
She beat them to the punch.The next day Barbara said: You will see Star in segment taped before her exit .ABC was SO mad,they NEVER aired ANYTHING that featured Star.They must have spent $$$$$ to retape segments that showed her. She CAME crawling back to them.
I may self felt Star Jones exited the show with high dignity of giving praise to the show, co-host and staff but I find Barbara’s commentators of Star’s exit shady, insensitive and beneath.... well, no, not beneath her because she’s always been known to play dirty pool just this time Star best her at her own game!🤨

This is classic. Jones' contract for the following year wasn't renewed by Walters then in revenge Jones surprised the viewing audience and said she was voluntarily stepping down after much soul searching. So disingenuous of her and a good acting job.

She reached out to hold the hands of a visibly shaken Ms. Behar and Ms. Walters, who shifted uncomfortably.
“I’m not sure what the future holds, but I’m absolutely sure who holds the future,” Ms. Jones said.
The next day, Ms. Walters, Ms. Behar and Ms. Hasselbeck walked onstage alone. “And then there were three,” Ms. Walters said.

Star most certainly DID NOT leave with dignity.....She was officially sacked the following day after pulling this stupid stunt. She was offered the opportunity to leave with dignity but became bitter n vindictive.....which is why she was blacklisted.....
Basically what happened was that the network gave Star the opportunity to say that she was leaving voluntarily, therefore protecting her from having to say she was fired, and the network would have gone along with whatever she said. She was meant to make her announcement two days later, with everything planned, but she did was announce early that she had been fired, and she made several announcements in other places of her firing as well. This made things very difficult for the network as it put them in a very bad light, which is why Barbara had to make a seemingly harsh speech to put the record straight.
She beat them to the punch.The next day Barbara said: You will see Star in segment taped before her exit .ABC was SO mad,they NEVER aired ANYTHING that featured Star.They must have spent $$$$$ to retape segments that showed her. She CAME crawling back to them.

I may self felt Star Jones exited the show with high dignity of giving praise to the show, co-host and staff but I find Barbara’s commentators of Star’s exit shady, insensitive and beneath.... well, no, not beneath her because she’s always been known to play dirty pool just this time Star best her at her own game!🤨

I am surprized Star Jones didn't give the standard, "I want to spend more time with my family."
She doesn’t have kids. She was “pushed out”. She was going to leave later but she left earlier.
Regardless of how Barbara handled being caught off-guard, it *IS* her show and she can do with it what she likes. Star's a brilliant woman who should have known you just don't burn professional bridges-- particularly if you're in the public eye.
Her momentary satisfaction at being able to make the announcement at the time of her choice backfired into a spectacular career suicide move of monumental proportions. A tragic waste, really... she let her ego get in the way of good judgement.
You must not bite your boss. Loyalty is very important. Star Jones darely attacked the boss. It could be seen as betrayal. Star Jones should have hidden her emtion. It was not worth it. Once she lost the podium, no way of fighting back. End of her career.

Much has been said against BW for her response to Star's 'on-air resignation'. Some viewed B's comments as unecessary, even vindictive. I disagree. In the 24 hour period between the two statements, much transpired behind the scenes AND publicly which illustrated not only Star's lack of professionalism, but her judgement.. even her stability.
Regardless of culpability, to blindly "burn bridges" with media powerhouses (ie; ABC, BW) was professional SUICIDE-- & Star had to be aware of that.

I did not care if she plugged any of the people or companies helping her with her gay wedding. What pissed me off was that when she was Fat she kept saying I am big and Beautiful, I'm a Diva Honey. The when she lost the weight she did an interview mayybe LKing? and she said i was not big and beautiful I was Obese. Mo'Nique kind of tried to do the same thing!!
Even though it was a surprise, I think they should have just let Star go with the speech that she gave to the audience.

Jones is so full of crap. I feel so bad for Barbara. Jones put her all of that media crap and all Barbara wanted to do was to have Jones feel with her dignity in place. I will and always will be a Barbara Walters fan and I think Jones is just a mean person over all.
That is so wrong on Barbera's part, or ABC for that matter. People leave shows all the time, but you dont talk about them next day, whether its a sitcom, or a talk show. Thats incredulous! They should have found a replacement, or go about their regular day without her.
