    Hey everyone! Wanted to mention, the 16-inch version actually has 16x9 ratio, unlike this 13-inch version's 16x10 ratio. So Kamvas Pro 16 (2.5K) has the resolution 2560x1440, not 2560x1600, and that makes it a wider, more standard display. Which is kinda funny how the smaller 13-inch model technically shows you more pixels than the 16-inch :D

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  11 месяцев назад +9

      Also, I think I forgot to mention it doesn't have touch input. Only pen input.

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  11 месяцев назад +8

      And I mentioned you can easily switch the pen input screen and draw on the main laptop's screen, while having something else shown on the Kamvas. What I forgot about is the screen-off mode. So you can draw on it like it's a simple pen tablet without a screen while looking at the main laptop's display. Useful if you're on the go and using the laptop's battery!

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  11 месяцев назад +1

      Someone asked if the display turns off and on normally with the computer - it does. It shows the Power Saving mode message and the only thing glowing after that is a dim red led next to the power button. When I wake up the laptop, the screen wakes up like a normal monitor

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  11 месяцев назад +1

      @kae2678 mentioned the response time on Kamvas Pro 16 is 14ms, but it's a standard 25ms on the Kamvas Pro 13. So allegedly you get a snappier latency when drawing on the bigger version

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  11 месяцев назад +1

      @ragecandy said they had a poor initial activation with new Huion pens (it's when the pen starts drawing at the lightest possible contact with the screen). They mentioned the older Huion pens with that long and soft nib travel had better initial activation. I tested this pen's activation before and haven't noticed any issues, and tested it again now - it is technically possible to touch the screen without drawing, but it's such a light touch a regular pencil wouldn't leave a mark on paper this way. So maybe there is a generation difference in pens from what @ragecandy tested, or maybe there's a higher bar for this stuff in certain art styles, since I don't do a lot of precise line art

    I had the pro 12 back in 2018 - 2019, swapped to iPad Pro because of your videos and have never looked back. The Huion was great, recommended one to my best friend, the 22 inch and he still uses it. Only issue I had was the lamination would be moveable by pressing when cold like winter weather making my house cool.

      Interesting, thanks. I did notice in the video the screen wasn't as responsive as my laptop's high refresh rate display. Maybe that's why. I don't feel like the latency is bad, but it's there, especially comparing to Apple Pencil

      Update: I upgraded this tablet even more by applying the new Paperlike 2.1 screen protector for 12.9 inch ipad (it covered 95% of my screen). Now the drawing experience is sublime, since the original screen seemed a bit slippery to me. It also cancelled out the annoying rainbow effect of the tablet screen

  • @harteconn

    Really nice and comprehensive video! I've been using a Huion Kamvas 12 for a long while, and I've never had any issues with it. This video does make me want to upgrade, but I'm not sure if it's necessarily worth it just for that extra inch. I think I'd want to go for the 22 Pro, as those "Pro" features are definitely worth it, but I'd want it more for the screen space.
    Something else I would recommend checking out from Huion is the Key Dial Mini - it's essentially a small keyboard with a dial on it for changing things like brush size or volume, so you could have all of the shortcuts you use from your keyboard on it in a smaller form factor, that would go well next to the tablet, without needing to go under the stand part.

    Hi Boro- Thanks for another great video.
    I have a huion camvas pro 13 full hd. I've used it for around 3 years daily. I like the drawing experience - the pen feels pretty good on the display. I use mine almost exclusively for reference photos (and as an input drawing device) like you. I lay mine on a vesa mount swivel laptop shelf (

  • @DaneMurdock
    @DaneMurdock 10 месяцев назад +2

    I had one of these and while I think it is great for the price, it has some flaws that I found really irritating. Mostly the pen calibration basically did nothing, or actively made the pen less accurate, and the accuracy near the edges or when I drew at slightly different angles was really bad. Mine also wound up having terrible purple discoloration near the edges after a few months and I wound up returning it. The replacement had dust trapped under the screen, and I ultimately got a refund. I also had a terrible time finding a longer cable that was compatible. The included cable is far too short.
    To be fair to Huion, the customer service was great. They replaced it, and then ultimately refunded my purchase. And the price/performance is really excellent. But I feel like people should be aware that Huion's quality is still nowhere near even my much older Wacom 13HD cintiq from a decade ago, even though the screen resoltion is much better.

    • @big-smoke-rc
      @big-smoke-rc 8 месяцев назад +1

      You can put photoshop palettes on any screen you want, but you won't be able to interact with them while using the tablet, because the pen is mapped to the tablets screen. With a traditional tablet, you could just map it to both screens and simply move the cursor between both.
      You could *maybe* hit a button to map the tablet to another screen temporarily, make photoshop adjustments with the pen, then hit the button again to remap it to the main window. But that's a lot of extra taps if you're doing it all day.

    I have a question: I checked out the 16 inch version of this display, and its got a brightness of only like 220 lumen, isn't that pretty bad? especially if you want your painting to be very vibrant and bright.
    i really would love to get this product because of how great the connectivity is - only one cable, super simple. i don't want to use wacom products anymore because with the exception of like one small tablet everything they have requires a massive mess of cables on your desk.
    would love to hear your opinion on that! i watched most of the video but i dont remember if you specifically mention the brightness

    • @BoroCG
      @BoroCG  11 месяцев назад

      I was also hesitant about that 220 nits, but in practice it's really bright. My laptop's max brightness is higher, but I never use my laptop's screen at more than 50% brightness. Using this Kamvas at 0% most of the time :) In a nutshell: it's quite bright

    Does this device properly wake up from the computer displays going into power saving mode? My old Huion Kamvas 16 Pro (2018, I think) would always go to a colorful fuzzy display (even after sending it in for an RMA) every time the computer displays woke back up, unless I turned off some settings in my GPU drivers, which took me 3 years to find a solution to online on a dead forum. I always had to power cycle the drawing display to get it to work, it was rather annoying.
    I loved that Huion, amongst others, were producing fairly competent products for a much, much cheaper price than Wacom, and it'd be nice to know if they've drastically improved in the past half decade. Because we all know they're price gouging a niche market relatively speaking, and some high quality competition would be really nice.
    Also, thanks for an actual super in-depth review, this should be the standard.

    I think their pens got way worse since they got rid of the slightly springy tip, they had similar initial activation to wacom and now it takes way more force to do a mark so doing really light shading or sketching is way harder...

      Are you sure the pen in the video is the same gen you tried? I get a perfect init activation. When actively trying, I can technically touch the screen before the line appears, but that's ridiculously light. Like, a real pencil wouldn't leave a mark at that pressure. If I compare it to Apple Pencil, the Pencil activates earlier, but it literally activates before I touch the screen, so that's not better :D
