    Loading my own drum samples makes the SD1250 an automatic winner for me. It's a feature that is almost always overlooked. One thing I've learned in comparing all of these different e sets is that if you choose one set you're sacrificing a feature that another set has. I haven't found a set around the $1000 mark that has everything I want.

    Mr. Powell, I first want to say your review videos are invaluable and hilarious! They've been unbelievably helpful for me. One thing I haven't heard many talk about though is the hihat pedal... So, I just bought the Titan 50 (before watching any review videos) and found the pedal to be like... weird? It's like the resistance on it is kind of strong. I like to play with the hihat slightly open and I've found that it's difficult to find and keep that exact sweetspot (this is my first e-drumset though!). Also, the cymbals seem completely oblivious to how hard I hit. I found if I hit this one specific section I can get a reliable "crash" sound which is making want to return these! I went to GC yesterday and played the Roland TD-07kv and the hihat pedal was AMAZING. So sensitive to the pressure on my foot, it felt completely real. And the cymbals were so sensitive and dynamic. How is the Titan 70's hihat pedal? And is the cymbal wonkyness a sensitivity adjustment I need to make similar to your 1250 video on maxing out the sensitivity? Thank you so much for your time!

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  8 месяцев назад +1

      You need to check the sensitivity setting..: also. There’s springs on the pedal… I think you can loosen them. 🤔

    • @Piperspeaks
      @Piperspeaks 8 месяцев назад

      oooo the springs! Interesting ok I'll check it out. The fact that you speak so highly of it combined with you're drumming experience/knowledge is reassuring that I just need to learn the kit better or develop some muscle in my hihat leg haha. Thank you Keith for posting these videos. I picked up the Titan 70 for Christmas. Loving it so far! Are the pads for the SD1250 interchangeable with the Titan 70? Specifically can I use the 12" snare pad from the SD1250 on the Titan 70 for the snare? If so I could then use the 10" snare (Titan 70) as a floor tom.

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  6 месяцев назад

      The problem is the snares connection on the 1250 is different so you can’t use it. You can always use the 10in as a floor tom just remember it won’t be dual zone if you’re splitting a tom to do it.

    I saw some other videos on the Titan 70, you're spot on with your review. I heard the sound difference had to do with higher bit rate sampling on the 70 ?, allowing more reverb type effects. Like you said, that can be EQ'd easily. I prefer the larger snare and color monitor on the SD1250. But that's just me. Still they hit a HR with the Titan70. Thanks for doing this video Keith.

    • @KeithronPowell

      The sampling does make it sound better but……🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @paulbfields8284
      @paulbfields8284 10 месяцев назад

      It’s not just the sampling. The triggers on the 1250 are mounted different on all the drums vs the 50 or 70. The 12” 1250 snare has a center mounted trigger and a rim area mounted trigger. The 70 has “rimshot detection” which the 1250 does not.. yes you can program the rim trigger but not to do rim/mesh simultaneous activation..All the Tom’s are the same. I noticed that there’s a sweet spot dead center on the 1250 mesh heads that the 50 and 70 don’t share. Also the fX samplings for the 50 and 70 are more of a room sound then a kit sound. That in of itself makes the 70 and 1250 two different fruits but both are sweet. If you are a beginner the 1250 would be the right choice I think. You can’t get the same sounds out of the 1250 that are rendered by 70 by “EQ ing it in”.. I might have spent more cash chasing EZ Drummer or Superior Drummer in search of the 70 kit sounds for my 1250 but it would’ve been expensive and very time consuming.it was easier to just send the 1250 back and exchange for a 70 a Tama 600 kick and a $35.00 snare stand… now this kit plays and performs like a solid kit because I’m using the snare stand and the rack snare arm support together. Adding this snare stand to the rack mount is huge all by itself. The Iron Cobra kick petal is bad ass too

  • @eyesolatedrock
    @eyesolatedrock 10 месяцев назад +2

    Nice review. Love your videos.
    Question, if you already have a Gibraltar rack with all the necessary clamps to mount everything. And you were planning to expand so you got a 13” dual zone snare instead of buying an extra tom. Then, what was the snare on the kit, got demoted to a tom, or a side snare. Which kit would you get? Considering that it’s possible to get a used 1250 for about the same price as a new 70.

But the larger snare and larger toms won me over although would rather have a larger Tom-2, so I swapped it out with Tom-4 which I don’t play all the time. I would imagine that the SD1250 should have been a clear win on the snare pad. Being on a separate stand reduces cross-talk and gives you real control over the positioning that being on a cage-mounted arm just can't do. Should you consider getting a larger conversion-style snare drum later you'd also already have the stand and now an large extra tom from the spare.

    well after watching many of your videos on the titan 70 and the SD1250 I went ahead and purchased the SD1250 for my little home studio setup. Since i was going to be triggering this kit with Superior drummer and EZ drummer, i wasn't really concerned about the module. aside from two of my cymbal clamps having retention lugs snap on my after binding while tightening, the entire kit went together quickly and easily. for some reason it took me a little bit to get it working with my computer as it wasn't registering as a midi device on my mac at first. I swapped around some USB cables and it suddenly started working. Wasn't able to get my mac to recognize it as a bluetooth device to pair with, which i thought was odd, but since i got it working via USB not really that concerned. I was bummed with the lack of android support for the app still. thought they would have had this figured out by now, but i guess not. Now i just have to figure out how to get the hi hatt controller to have a more dynamic range on the pedal. right now it kinda goes from tight closed to open with no in between. I also feel like the snare really you really have to slam it to get full velocity, so i am sure there are settings i can mess with the get it hitting harder without having to beat the hell out of the drum.
    All in all so far i am diggin it, and what it will bring to my setup.
    Now i just gotta learn how to pllay drums worth a damn :)

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  27 дней назад

      They’re never going to make the app work on Android. They’re moving to the Titan series so all updates are focused there when it comes to the app. In fact… it’s a completely different app.
      Make sure to go in and map the drum to Simmons. If your don’t do that, it’ll work but not as good as you’d like.

    I just bought my 1250 for $806.99.. now that means I actually paid $899.00 but I got a $90 gift certificate to Guitar Centers where I’ll be using that to pay for my new Tama Iron Cobra 600 kick.. $149 - $90.00.. = $59.00.. out of pocket. So technically I’ll will have paid $866.98… including kick…and that’s the dollars and sense. I just sold my 50 to get this one. I got $21.00 more for it than I paid for it 11 months ago. My first impression of the 1250 was Love The Size…Love the Rack rigidity, Love the Tom mounting hardware. Don’t love the crash locations. Will be purchasing two rack horizontal mounts soon to fix that. The glaring problem for me is that this module 1250 is really set up to emulate acoustic kits. That’s pretty much it’s main function (with a few semimeaningless synth fX). It feels more like acoustic and that matters to me. I do miss the one touch kit sounds like Modern Pop from my 50 which sounded pretty good on the headphones while playing along covers from my music. The 50 was better that way because it just sounded better playing along with music. I’m going to have to work hard to tweak a few kits to my liking to even have a chance of emulating that Bonham kit or Jerry Shirley kit or that David Grohl kit. When I played along Kravitz on “Are you gonna go my way” on my 50 I WAS the drummer in Pop mode. The 1250 can probably get there eventually but I’m going to have to work hard at it. As for pure drum experience 1250 hands down better than playing on 10” snare and 8” Tom’s. I’m torn a little and have come to the conclusion I either need to figure out how to get a few kits to sound like my 50 or… just buy a 70 and have it in the room for play along. I did buy a cheap Amazon Bluetooth plugged into Aux In which is pretty much the same now as Bluetooth Audio.. but … it’s not exactly perfect without that 50 Pop groove. I’m doing something with this 1250 I didn’t do with the 50… I’m truly knuckling down and practicing rudimentary LRK stuff and as I practice this way more and more it’s making a much better drummer out if me. Another reviewer told me to hook up a Titan 50 module to this 1250 kit and it’ll be the same as before … but bigger. I’m not sure how that would be so I’m avoiding that idea for now.. I wonder if the 70 module would be even better hooked up to this 1250 kit??? Keithron… try it for us!! You have em all sitting right there so hook up and review!! Please! If I were looking into buying a beginner or slightly better kit I’d buy the 70 at this point. Not the 1250 .. if you really want the acoustic feel and have the urge to do a lot of tweaking of sounds and FX… 1250 all the way. Question!! Can you import sounds from the 50 or 70 into the 1250 module???? Great question ain’t it? And… will it work and sound cool??? Let us know!

      @@leesbassment6393 yea.. I agree. But I couldn’t wait. The two models have two totally different approaches. Be nice to have the 70 module hooked up on a A/B switch with the 1250.. the 70 module is essentially the same as the 50.. going from 50 to 70 just didn’t make enough sense to me. But I have to admit too that after all the research I did I really did not totally understand the differences. They are huge to a drummer. I just assumed that the 1250 was a 1200 with a Titan 50 approach hence 12…50!! That is a dangerous assumption and it kind of disappointed me. But let’s face it… that’s probably what’s next.. again I see a way to import on this 1250 so I’m going to keep hoping someone (Keithron?) shows me how to get there..

      If it could be done you’d have to try and use the 1250 cables as well. The 1250 has a different plug for the snare

    After all the nonsense I talked with Simmons Tech Support. Here’s the skinny.. snare is designed to be one trigger or the other just like all the Tom’s.. for me that’s not acceptable. So I’m returning the kit to Guitar Centers full refund and purchasing the Titan 70. The 1250 is a great kit but it’s not for what I want to do with it.. the 50 was phenomenally fun to play.. 1250 not so much… I played the 70 once and it was reminiscent of the 50 so there it is.. to answer this content question… The 70 is better… for me.

      @@SquakesMahoney I talked to the employee and got the alesis crimson 2. He told me that the mesh quality and overall durability of the set makes it worth the extra $50 (the crimson was 850 and the other two were 800). The only set they had out was the Titan 70 and although it sounded alright, it seemed a bit congested. I also had a hard time getting the ride bell to work properly, and the cymbals wouldn't probably choke unless you held them really tight and in exactly the right place. The crimson has one less tom (which I don't really care about all too much) but it has a separate snare stand and the kit looks like you have more room.
      I'll post updates on here about how well it plays and my general thoughts on it

    I’ve been playing my new 1250 for two weeks. I’ve noticed that the snare does not trigger the rim and skin head If struck simultaneously.. on a real snare AND the Titan 50 and 70 when you hit this type of rim shot you get the sound emulated like a real snare would give.. a bullet note …and I miss that. As is now I only get either the skin head or the rim… not both…I don’t like this and the guy on Drums 65 says the triggers can’t be changed from this module nor will they ever work that way through EZ Drummer, Superior Drummer or the like. That to me sucks big time. Also, with the 1250 you only get the drum sounds that are emulated from bare kits whereas the 50 and 70 have programmed kits that emulate the entire mixed sound on the prerecorded music I play to.. does anybody understand what I’m getting at here? I love the size and feel of this 1250 but I’m real close to calling MF and telling them take em back and give me the Titan 70..

      @@KeithronPowellI’ve had the 70 up and running for two days.. there are pluses and minuses in comparison for both. For me the 70 is it. The coolest thing I came across is that I’m using a snare stand and the snare arm rack bracket together in unison. You need to check this out. If you notice they use the Tom from the 1250 as the snare on the 70. With that type of steel bracket mount on the snare put it into the arm and put a snare stand under it and watch how stiff it makes the whole rack.!! If you have a Place for me to send you a pic I’ll send it to you.. I know you’ll think it’s really really cool.. it transforms the rigidity of the entire unit as a whole.
