    Love your energy! I've gotten a silly idea that I want to learn to play around with some drums and researching electronic drum sets is maddening! Being 57 years old, I doubt I will ever need a super high end set, but I don't want something super cheap either. I appreciate all the vids and I'll keep at it. Still on the fence with so many brands and models!

      I’d suggest SIMMONS Titan 50. It’s on sale right now and has great sounds. It’s easy to put together and makes it easy to learn and also play along to your favorite music.

    I enjoy your videos, man. My dad gave me his SD600 when I started looking into E-kits and I've found it to be very versatile, I have to put in some effort to get the sound and feel I want, but I'd do that with an acoustic kit. Your videos have helped a lot in me getting to know my kit and you keep things real and push past the BS of (in pompous tone with a pinky in the air) "weeeelll my Roland..." . Keep at it man and thanks for making these videos!

    KeithRon…very honest review. I have the Roland KV-07. Also, a newbie in the eDrum world. I’ve been an acoustic kit player for over 50 years Ludwig, Rogers and Gretsch. Thought I would the eDrums a try! Overall I like the portability and weight when moving/lifting kit for traveling. Tweaking the drum sounds can be very intimidating with the module. Which means I am researching almost every day on RUclips! Thank you for being there to help! Cheers!

    Keith, you're absolutely right about comparing apples to apples. I was gigging in the 80s when the first Simmons kits were hot and, to quote Charles Barkley, they were TURRIBLE. But they were the best we had back then. I had a Gretsch electronic kit and later a Yamaha one and even the SD600 blows them away. Still, I see people on forums complaining about them. What the hell are they complaining about??? I currently have a SD600 kit at home and I love it. It's perfect for practice and recording. My only question is how durable the cables would be for gigging. The current Simmons lineup is the best value in electronic drumming IMHO and I started with Slingerland acoustic drums in the 70s!

      Agreed bro!! I just left Guitar Center speaking with a sales rep and researching for my next video and I was shocked to find out he didn't know that GC owned Simmons. He agreed that he just assumed it was a cheap drum based on price. The sad thing is HE OWNS A SD600 but favors the Alesis. I don't even understand that. I agree the current Simmons line up is the best value in the e-drum field and everyone is sleeping on them. The big boys better pray that Simmons doesn't get into the fight at a higher level!

    Hi my friend. I have the Roland TD07-DMK, which is the same as the KV only with CY5 cymbals and the attachable kick pad.
    I can tell you that the tom pads are small indeed, but they're 6" of playing surface, the shells are actually 8". The snare is 8" of playing surface, and the shell size is 10". Still small.
    The hi-hat pad is a CY5, which is 10" across, and it's a dual zone pad: edge and bow. The CY5 and CY8 cymbals are dual zone with choke. Personal opinion: I love the sounds on the TD07 module. It surprisingly gives you a lot of control over the sounds. So don't get fooled by the amount of sounds. It's a perfectly great beginner kit. Oh, the bluetooth is an absolute beauty. I don't use the midi mode but I do use it to play to songs. I've never used a cable to play along.
    I just wanted to clear that a bit. Nice vid!

    Starting with the SD2000, the original designer of the Simmons drum came back to the company and the product took a huge step up. It's still a bit restrained by Guitar Center (they're having serious finical troubles), but these are no longer the junk kits they once were.

    • @KeithronPowell
      @KeithronPowell  Год назад +1

      I’m not sure their financial situation is the big issue. I’m pretty sure when you compare like drums you see that the simmons product is better than what’s in its class… you (not you per se’) don’t or shouldn’t compare a Titan 50 to a Strike Pro. The issue is, IMO, 1) features for the price 2) coming up with great and doable ideas for the price point. Those two things are likely the main restraints on the product.

    When you chose for an electronic drumkit the most important is the feel and sensitivity; velocity on MIDI terms. How accurate is on that?? Comaparing it with series like Roland TD-11K?? Because the sounds you can get them from a nice DAW. Nice video by the way!

    Nice to see a paper comparison of kits around the $800-$1000 range (even though two years have passed) Would be nice to see an updated comparison.
    Would be nice to see other comparisons, say $600-$800, and $400-$600 ranges, maybe $1000-$1200 as well. Maybe even the $200-$400 range... with examples, if possible, of "You get what you pay for" and also the "law of diminishing returns."

I just uploaded a new video showing that you can also fix the issue in your DAW for recording purposes. If you're using it to trigger sounds from the DAW or EZ Drummer like programs it's a simple fix. At the same time... If you were considering a $2699 drum there was no way the $1099 was even in the running. The Strike Pro is a different ballpark which is why I didn't include it in my chart in this video. On the Roland the drums are smaller but they feel better and I never have cared about having only a triangle bit on the cymbals because that’s the only part you ever play. And the high-hat on the Roland is double zoned. And the ride is triple zoned for the Roland. And the sound composition wasn’t fair because you forgot to mention sound quality, which roland is the best. The colour of the screen doesn’t really matter and the Simmons has all colour, but it’s a very clunky transition between things. What's all this talk of a third kit out there the Sd1250 is that why my Simmons SD1200 was on clearance well I got your cool Names let's just call The Simmons the San Diego 1200 1250 we can call the Alesus the Detroit Killer Crimson Red Kit We can call Roland the Overpriced Numerous number and the Yamaha The Who 2022 stick to guitars especially basses endorsing Billy Big from Mr Big that have a price tag of 2500 for a four string Yamaha bass with his specs !! II would say no I'll take Geeze Butlers Lakeland base made in America set to his 50 years of experience as Black Sabbath Big low end sold for 1500.00 standard price for American made immortal Excalibur Lakeland Basses, Fender guitars , Les Paul or Gibson, BC Rich our American made Latino designer !! 1400.00 for a white beautiful BC Rich with Fish man pickups active ones !!

    Sorry dude but more sounds does not equal better. I would rather have 5 good kits to select from than over a thousand generic garbage sounds to hate.
