I personally believe that Masked Satan is an opponent because Arle apparently got to Satan too soon, so he had to act fast, so Satan wore a mask and decided to go with it, and then faced Arle with the mask on.
you can also select the opponent on some previous versions, you just have to wait for the yellow thing to hover on the opponent you want and press a (worked on md and snes)

I hate the voice acting in this one Arle sounds too way adult and it definitely doesn't fit, even the Puyo Puyo CD voice acting was better and the seiyuu they used for Arle was pretty fitting for her
