    Well, that saddle. Easy to shave +200 gr off the bike spending not more than about $60.

      @tommilano5431  5 месяцев назад +3

      True, probably more. Brooks saddles are the most comfortable for riding in regular clothes, so I’ll take the weight penalty on this one.

      @@tommilano5431 If thats a B17 Short, it should weigh 460 gr. A regular non-carbon race bike saddle in 150+ mm width would be around 250 gr. But they are hell without padded shorts, that’s true ;-)

    I have the SL7. Not related to weight, but for any bike I would recommend a Garmin Varia rear radar light that communicates with your headset and will pick any cars approaching starting at 150 meters.
    Won't get on a bike without it, day and night.

      Nice! I wish I went with the SL7, di2 is easier to live with than mechanical ultegra.
      Good advice on the varia. I cycle in NYC a lot, so it wouldn’t be as useful there, but I’m all for spending money on safety gear. Maybe I’ll splurge on the varia if it has usbc. I’d rather pay $300 for it than get hit by a distracted driver from behind.

      @@tommilano5431 The di2 is great. The Varia does get busy in traffic, but it's two-way communication to you and those approaching from behind. The light flash increases as drivers get closer and will also quicken on your headset if they are picking up speed. It may be annoying but I figure the sooner drivers notice you the better. I also use a tear drop rearview mirror plug-attached to the end of the handlebar and a front headlight. All combined with the old quick glance over the shoulder have just become a seamless routine as I move on down the road.

    Nice black on black Domane. Almost like mine except seat and wheels. I even have the same fenders.

      Thank you. I love the blacked out look. The fenders are nice! Although the front one hits my foot, I’ll probably put a smaller one on.

    Been running tubeless but I thinking of switching back to tubes as I am growing tired of having to remember to add sealant. How do you like the Tubilito's? I have a some as emergency need, but have not needed to this point, so wondering how they hold up.

    • @tommilano5431
      @tommilano5431  5 месяцев назад

      I like them so far. I have one wheel set that’s tubeless, but I may try to put them in that one for the same reason as you. I need to use them with proper race tires to see if they puncture easily. If so, tubeless will be better in that respect.

      @tommilano5431 cool. My thinking is that the tubeless tires are a little more stout, so should be slightly more puncture resistant and I want to say the these type of tubes are a little more forgiving as well as they stretch a bit. Been a while since I had flat, so that is the only real thing holding me up

    How tall are you and what size bike did you get? Still undecided since I’m in between sizes

      @tommilano5431  4 месяца назад +1

      I am 6 feet tall. I went with a size 56. I have another bike from a different brand in size 58. I’m in between these two sizes as well. Id prefer the 56, but you can make either work.

    what's considered a light rim nowadays? is 460 grams any good?

    • @tommilano5431
      @tommilano5431  4 месяца назад

      I’m not sure. Any wheel set below 1500 grams is light enough for me.

    • @markifi
      @markifi 4 месяца назад

      how much do the rims weigh in a 1500 grams wheelset?@@tommilano5431 i don't really mind the hubs' weight

    • @markifi
      @markifi 4 месяца назад

      turns out a light wheelset is about 800 grams rim and 600 grams everything else@@tommilano5431 so no, 460 is slightly heavier than the ideal

    Enve wheels are for suckers, as are all hookless rims.
