Are your issues with the dessert boot applicable to most chukkas?
What did you spray on your towel? Rubbing alcohol or is it a special cleaner?
The best boot for the money and especially when they're 20% off are Trumans. Bought my first pair before XMas, then my second pair 1 month later. Absolutely love them!
Mid late weigher, word up
Let's start by decluttering the video title. Your wardrobe is your clothes. You're an idiot if you don't know that you're means "you are." Hope this helps you remember third grade spelling lessons.
Perfect
Is that seiko 5 gmt?
Are both of these chromexcel version or different leathers?
Insert, problem solved
Is there a video for more jackets that can be dressed up. If my work attire is shirt and tie, which jacket can be used that will complement the level of attire while also keeping the cold out?
Thanks for the review! May I ask why you no longer wear your Higgins Mill? I’m stuck between the Landon’s and the HMs, how would you compare the two? Thanks!
How do these compare to the Allen Edmonds Hamilton Oxfords??? I saw they discontinued these. Any thoughts or recommendations? Please and thank you.
What is your go to site for selling unwanted clothes?
I sell shoes and expensive jackets on eBay. If it’s just old shirts, I just donate them to a drop box for old clothes.
It looks good just put it away for awhile 🙂
About six years ago, I bought a pair of AE Higgins Mill in Chromexcel and a pair of black ThB Captain in black. Back then, the AE was exactly twice as expensive as the ThB. The AE has already been resoled twice, and its Dainite sole is simply outstanding in terms of durability, grip, flexibility, and cushioning. On the Captain, however, the welt broke in several places on both shoes within just three years. While the sole is durable, it’s also much harder. The AE has a better fit, not just around the Achilles tendon, and the leather is in a completely different league, although it does require more effort to maintain. The ThB falls significantly short, even compared to my Red Wing Beckman, which I’ve been wearing regularly for over ten years now. All of these boots were taken care properly, only the ThB’s leather cracked. It’s really simple: anyone who values quality, craftsmanship, and class (and has the budget) is better off buying the AE. For the price of the ThB plus a bit more, you can find far better options than the ThB.
I disagree with you on the button down collar. It is a staple in my wardrobe, about 50% of my shirts are button down. It is more casual than the spread collar, but I like it. Just don't wear a tie with it. This is a person taste scenario, so there you go.
True. I dislike them with ties, but they are nice under sweaters and sport coats sans tie. The oxfords in this shirt have very floppy collars as well, which isn’t as great as if it had a bit more structure.
Don’t donate, sell on Poshmark to make some money back
I’ve heard good things.
These videos are very helpful, thanks for doing them.
You’re welcome!
Thanks for the video. I was a bit bummed that they do not make the comfy cush version any longer. This helped me out!
Glad I could help! You're welcome!
It is difficult when having a busy schedule. What camera and mic are you using on this video ?
It definitely is. The simpler "vlog style" videos are much easier, since you can make them on the go. They don't perform as well, but it will get your skills up (camera confidence, editing, and stuff). Camera and Mic: DJI Pocket 3 with the DJI Mic 2 (it's clipped under my flannel shirt).
I have the same exact bike i love it the bontraga 51 feels amazing on this bike but I to wanted to swap it out for the new madone this video make sense I'm still undecided this video helped a little bit
Carbon wheels and race tires really wake this bike up! It's up to you if you want to get a dedicated road bike. I would rather have one bike that can do both road and gravel, but lots of people like to have 2 separate bikes that specialize in each discipline.
Great channel Tom i just purchased my first two boots from allen edmonds. I am not impressed on the boxing looks like someone just threw it in there but the boots look great. they were on sale so probably needed to get rid of them so not a big deal. grant stone boxing is like a work of art from the box to everything clean and crisp. i am still very excited i got this boot in lug sole which not sure about it but they were on sale for 244.00. and i got parkcity park lace up in burgundy for 181 total. thanks for the vid i hope to get the same use and great experience as you
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying them. I have noticed that AE is cutting corners and increasing their priced. They used to include flannel bags for their shoes, now they don't anymore unless you ask for it. They also have a habit of discontinuing their better boots. Like the Dalton, and it looks like they are low on stock of the Landon cap toe.
Cole Hahn - serious - total junk. Clark’s are junk too I guess
Agreed. Indigo blue is much more nostalgic and authentic. A way better and far more gentlemanly alternative to bright jeans are khakis.
I agree %100! Khakis are often overlooked, and they are WAY better than light wash jeans.
Some are some aren’t.
True words.
I have the Clark’s desert boot I must say what a load of crap these truly are expensive cheap crap they are now in a recycling bin at my local supermarket never will put a boot made so shite on my feet again
Clarks Desert Boots were one of my first fashion boots. They were good for a while, and for under $100 the quality was fine. However, I found with all desert or chukka boots, it's hard to get a good fit. The CDB also had no support, and ended up hurting my feet in the long run.
I’ve owned approx 6 to 7 pairs of this boot, I wear them daily for work. They are unbelievably comfortable. But they will eventually fail at the toe stitching, where the boot bends. Nothing that a good cobbler can’t restitch and keep going.
I've actually noticed the stitching is starting to come loose on mine. They are very comfortable though.
Almost 70. Found father's 1943 USN pea coat from when he was almost 17. Bit long & tight, but looks great.
Sounds awesome!
this is true.. got mine same shoes and cway so nice on feetm good for everyday use walking
Yep, thank you!
Cool video I can tell you why I love my carbon fiber, I put mine in the backseat of my car. It’s so light I can maneuver it in there easy only 7 lbs or so. I just popped the front wheel off slide it in there. No problem.
7lbs? That’s crazy light. That’s the advantage of carbon, they are light stiff and can be very aerodynamic.
I’m wrong I don’t know where I got that number it felt so light I believed whatever I read but check factory details. It’s 19 pounds but it is easy to maneuver. Sorry for the misinformation.
Peacoats are one of the most masculine, stylish jackets around. I was given an authentic navy issued one years ago. Although sturdy, it was clunky and not meant to be worn with normal casual civilian clothes. Today's jackets are far more wearable, both functional and fashionable. Definitely try a size down!
Agree, peacoats are pretty awesome!
I've been cutting back on coffee for two weeks and I'm feeling less anxious and hopefully I'll be able to cut coffee altogether .
It’ definitely helps!
I dont the AE boots but it sounds strange that a waterproof product breaths more than a regular similar boot
I was surprised as well. I think they used a thinner leather for them.
May get better price for Giant TCR compared to the Thunder.
Yes, much better price.
Question: How many gravel bikes do you have? Any mountain bikes? Just checking! 😅
Currently 4, but very soon to be 3. All road bikes, but I like “all road” bikes that can do gravel as well.
So, when buying a peacoat do I need to go up a size or do they take layers into consideration?
If you're planning on wearing the coat with layers, make sure you size it for that. This particular peacoat, the Schott 740, is a generous fit. I actually needed to size down, and I can still wear a suit jacket and thin sweater underneath it with comfort.
after watching this video i just wanna ride my fun fixie but i live in canada :(
Damn, it must be super cold up there! I've ridden in 20 Degrees Fareinheight before, but any exposed skin starts to hurt, and I get concerned about riding over Ice and going down! Anything above 32 degrees F or 0 degrees C should be okay, since that's above freezing.
Good coat, strange fit for my body type. Schott is a world class company.
Agree, it's a very roomy fit.
Have you reached out to wabi or a local bike shop about the brake shutter? It could be half a dozen different things and one of them might be able to help. Business is pretty slow right now for bikes, so it might be worth a shot. I have some ideas of what it could be too.
I'm thinking of doing this, as it might be something I'm overlooking. I only sanded the front wheel once, I'm always so focused on adjusting the actual brakes and not the surface of the wheel.
@tommilano5431 when you sanded the rims did you you also sand or replace the pads at the same time? Because I've made that mistake before.
Unless you use the wider tire clearance, I'm not sure what the Thunder would give you that the Trek or Wabi Classic couldn't
My thoughts exactly. Thank you!
I'd sell the Thunder too. The classic does everything you want in a single speed. The only reason to keep the Thunder is if you needed the wider tires. To go to 30's on the Thunder when you have the classic and love it, makes little sense. The classic and Domane are great compliments to each other with little redundancy. If you ever want to explore gravel, you'd be better off getting a gravel bike with wider clearance and disc brakes anyway. Happy New Year.
Agree with you. On anything other than light gravel, and disc brake, geared wide tire bike like the Domane makes so much more sense. For light gravel, I've taken my classic with 28mm road tires on and got through it fine. It was slow but it was fun! Happy new year.
Magnanni infinitely better.
You made the right choice. Sure a TCR or Madone may be a little faster over a short distance, but if that comes at the expense of comfort, added fatigue, ability to focus and push, it will probably be slower on anything but the shortest outings. That combined with all the other reasons you listed make the choice pretty clear.
Agree, thank you! It all comes down to comfort and fit.
You should test the speed of 32 mm. The might be faster and only feel slower because they ride smoother
You're onto something. I find 32s not much slower on concrete, but it might be a good deal better for light gravel.
I can’t believe after a year you still dont find them more comfortable than any other shoe, mine are my favorite thing i own, but im a bigger guy and work in a facory so im on flat concrete 9 hours a day
I wish they worked out for me, but my feet didn't like them.
The low versions ecco track 25 soles come off.
Ive heard they do. Mine are still going strong.
No decent toe box, too low. They suck, not built right.😂
True. Compressionless cables with dual+ piston mechanical brakes can be a great option
I think this might be the way.
True. I love to see the Wabi Thunder with the ability to add a multi-gear cassette and derailleur to the back. I'd love to see more rim brake options from other manufacturers. Rim brakes so so light, cheap and simple and good ones can still stop great
Agree, although the rim brakes on this thunder always give me fork shudder. They are super simple and easy to maintain when compared to hydraulic discs.
Hey man I love your videos, really helpful for beginners like me
Thank you, glad this video helps!
