I was diagnosed with cancer and told I had 6 to 8 weeks to live. I gave it over to our Lord. He wasn't ready to have me in Heaven yet. 8 months later, I have gone from being in bed, flat on my back, 24/7. To now being able to drive my car myself. I am also back doing my crafts. Little by little I feel myself getting stronger. I will add you to my prayers. BELIEVE!

I just came across this particular video but you are actually what drew me to junk journaling. It was the way you presented it as being something I could do on my extremely tight budget yet have loads of readily available materials. You are also so encouraging. That’s why I wanted to take a moment to encourage you. Due to multiple chronic hereditary illnesses I had to quit working at 48. I have struggled with depression and anxiety most of my life but even more pronounced these past five years. Watching your videos uplifts me for so many reasons. First of all, that British accent….I absolutely LOVE it! Love how you encourage others to explore their own creativity and show us how it can be done on a budget yet make beautiful junk journals with surprises on every page. You also show such a variety of techniques using more of a mixed media approach. Using our hands and creating helps us to heal. I hope you are creating for yourself now. I hope that you are healing. I wish for you fewer and fewer struggles. I know there are so many who believe the same things I do, they just don’t stop and write it. Sending you healing energy and good vibes across the ocean. Blessed Be.

Joie, it is SO good to see you post again, even for just a short video! You are very much adored by so many of us, and your quiet inspiration has been missed. Please know that you are definitely not alone on this craft therapy journey. I have struggled with anxiety & depression myself, and I know that many others in this community have/do as well. Crafting for most of us is therapy - a place to relax and do something we love that makes us happy. Take your time and give yourself grace and space to recover and be better. Don't try to be "same old you" - illnesses have a way of changing us. But you CAN get back the things you love and be better on the other side. Rest and know that we are all rooting for you and waiting to help you craft through this journey in whatever way you will let us! Much love, hugs, and prayers to you!! ❤❤🤗🤗

Hello Joie, I am sorry that you have been ill and that it has prevented you from doing what you are so good at! I have always found your videos to be extremely good in terms of the teaching you do, and the crib sheets and your positive and encouraging attitude. Please get well soon, but don't try to do too much too soon, take it at your own pace and know that many of us who have watched your videos have been in awe of your talents. We just want you to be able to enjoy making videos and crafting. I, for one, am happy to see short and clear teaching from you as it takes me a long while to grasp how and what to do - I enjoy crafting but my skills are low. Know how much you are appreciated and admired!

I've had problems nearly my entire life with "depression". Several different drugs were tried. Some were more helpful than others. About 4 years ago, I started on some new meds, and they work great for me.
I don't know what your issues are but I hope that if you are taking medication, the perfect combination will be found for you. I'm happy that you are doing your crafts. Sometimes I can become so involved crafting, that I forget my problems. Take care of your self. I hope you feel better soon.

Joie, I discovered your videos and junk journals in the midst of a flare-up of mental illness. Your voice, your calm, clear instructions, and the satisfaction of things I can do without too much concentration keep my hands and my mind busy and productive. I don't have much money, so your suggestions about substituting supplies and using what I already have on hand have been perfect. I always feel good when I can reuse or recycle an item instead of throwing it in the trash. I am so grateful to you.

Hi, Joie! It is Sandra from Louisiana, now, not Sandra from Arkansas!
We started moving 6-5-24 and my mother(86 yo) and I drove down yesterday. It has been crazy! And there are still some knots to work out but I am finally here! This is my first home that is all mine. (My husband passed away 2-22-22). It is a long one room apartment. I am going to close off one end as a bedroom for myself and I am having a bedroom built on for my mother that will have a small kitchenette and full size bath. I am also adding a laundry room. My daughter, her husband, and my 3 grandchildren will live in the house up front. I am one happy camper right now!🙂 ❤

The anxiety is REAL and sometimes feels relentless but you WILL get to the other side of it! Every day, every step gets you closer to it. It took me 9 months to post about it on my Facebook. No one knew but my immediate family. That's not like me. At first the change in me was scary, but as I walked through it, I became a more compassionate person and better for it. I never would have believed that. Sending tons of love and prayers ❤

Hi, Joie! It's Sandra from Louisiana. Hope you are doing well today! I am currently waiting on Hurricane Francine to make landfall in Louisiana. This is my first hurricane to go through.🙃 It is currently 8:04AM and is still very dark outside AND very rainy. This should be a very interesting day. Luckily, I hapoen to LOVE rain, wind, and storms, so I am as happy as a duck in a puddle!🙃 I am going to spend my day working on my journaling and watching the hurricane. I hope you get a chance to enjoy some journaling today. Bye, for now.☺️

Dear Joie - I have had a syrinx in spinal canal for many years. Four years ago, I had to start using a wheelchair, couldn’t drive and generally hit rock bottom mentally. But I can still craft and at 72 have started to learn how to make journals and alter books for journals. During my RUclips research I found lessons and ideas. I will continue to pray for your recovery, but also that you would give yourself grace during this time. My mom went through a double organ transplant earlier this year and God has been so good to us; she has come a long way. But I see her sometimes get discouraged when she can't do the things that she thinks she should be able to do. Sometimes when things are rough, we lose perspective on how far we have already come. Joie! I’m just seeing this. Our home burned down (unsalvageable) on May 2nd taking out 3 fur babies with it. We got the call that our home was burning while an hour and 15 minutes from home at the pediatric ICU with our 16 year old son on life support. He had collapsed, unresponsive on the high school bathroom floor after accepting a vape pen from a fellow student that was laced with drugs. It had only been 24 hours since that happened to him when our home burned. I say all this to say, it will get better. Our son survived but I haven’t crafted anything in 4 months. I’m sad a lot of the time and get anxious at odd moments. We are rebuilding and it’s a slow process. I was once told to not despise the process. So, you, too… embrace this season as best you can. Listen to the whispers of your heart. Rest and rejuvenate. You’ll come through this new and improved. I’ve loved your videos for years. I’m praying for your peace, calm resolve. ❤

Dear Joie, Three years ago when we were locked down, you were one of a small number of paper and mixed media artists whose very generous videos gave me inspiration to try junk journalling. It really helped to get me through those weeks and months of isolation. As charity shops started to reopen, your enthusiasm for using old book pages so imaginatively had me scouring shops for old atlases and other out-of-date books that might otherwise have gone to paper pulp. I have enjoyed your carefully prepared, precise, calm and perfectly-paced instructions, your love of bird images and also your have-a-go attitude to adding new skills whether it’s painting or sewing. In fact, your experiments with paint - you painted and doodled on some old book pages - inspired me to take up painting more seriously. That has now become my own quiet therapy. You have been an inspirational teacher and will continue to be so. It is very good to see you back and I wish you well on your road to recovery. x

You were the person that opened the world of junk journaling to me and helped me deal with my empty nest by giving me something new to love. Even when I added other interests to my hobbies, your channel has always been on my “must” watch list. I am so sorry you have been sick and I understand where you must be mentally right now. I have been enduring diabetic issues since before Covid and then I fell in the tub which resulted in neck and shoulder pain that is ongoing. It is a journey - but that is exactly the thing that keeps me going - knowing this too will pass and hopefully make me stronger. I will be praying for you and your recovery. You have brought so much joy to so many. I will gladly be here for you now.❤❤

Dear Joie, I am incredibly proud of you ❤️ That you choose the way to craft, what your lust and your life is. To give yourself the chance to recover.. Know sweetheart that there are so many people who sympathize with you, because they can "somehow empathize" with that "place" where you are now. I come from a dark, dark place and every day I watch RUclips, to people who Craft and make "Junk Journals". And it helps me a lot "just" to look. I will watch and support you a lot. You deserve it to get better and hopefully you will start to feel a little better ever day. In my own "dark" place, I promise you, I will do my best to Craft with you. This way we can all get a little better, moment by moment, 1 craft projects at a time and especially at your pace.. day by day. I crossed my fingers 🍀 That you can say again soon... I'm myself again and I'm happy again and that you can close this period of being sick. Looking forward to all your next clips.. Take your own time dear Joie, because we're not going anywhere... yes.. here to you on RUclips 🤗 Think 🍀🌹

I'm just now getting the courage to respond to you. Crafting has been my friend since I was a child, and I'm 68. An illness is an illness and we ache, worry, and just not the self we wished we were. They take time and I think you have the best friend right now: crafting! It will give you energy, fun times, allow you to be your creative self and make you smile. I can't think of a better medicine. Joie, I need you too. People say take each day at a time, and it's true. That's all we can do. We can't wish for tomorrow to be here or don't want it to come. It will and it's a new day to press on. Know that we're all here for you and look forward to your makings. Hugs!

Dear Joie, I feel your pain. You were one of a few crafters, a few years ago, who helped me out of the deepest black hole after my Mum passed away. I've always suffered depression but this loss sent me to depths I've never been before. As I listened to my psychiatrist, psychologist and the very few friends who understood (no family did) I turned to begin junk journaling. Thanks to you I surrounded myself with card, paper, books, maps etc and became immersed in your videos and what you taught me. I do know, you will recover form this particular journey, perhaps not fully as is my case and many others, but enough to enjoy life, regain confidence in yourself and to love yourself again. It is hard to share these experiences as you well know, so let me say you are brave and your subscribers will help you along the way.

🥰Much love and prayers for you dear lady💚🙏‼️ Joie, I went thru many of these comments and all do wish you well and have missed you and we all want you back. So know this….You don’t have to create something, or perform your magic, or design something new for Etsy, which all takes so much energy. I know dear, 😉 I’m 78 years old and most things I do, takes lots of thinking these days and asking the dear Lord for energy is nothing to be ashamed of, most days I need help!!! 🙏 Call on Him and He will direct your path. (I’m praying for my mojo to tap me on the shoulder soon👌. 🤔) …and yes, I believe the Lord directed me to your channel when you were painting with green watercolors in your journals (I love greens) and you had those sweet little lights on around the desk and the magical sound of music…my first memories of you doing your magic in those simple one signature journals with your easy gentle voice describing how to and why… ! It was just magic how you scored those papers into pockets and placed them on the perfect page! It’s still so simple when I watch your videos and that’s why so many who commented on this video are still watching and re-watching your lovely videos!!! You make magic videos😊👌‼️Really… you could sit at your desk right now and show one or two of your journals and we would all be just overwhelmed at your craftiness in how you present your work, even if we’ve seen those journals before. It wouldn’t matter, it would be you telling us the story, where you got the idea for doing the cover, and showing us how you turn up a long page to keep the subject in tact, or why you put something on a page to bring interest and its likeness together on a facing page…so many reasons why we watch your channel, and why we want to take a page and have it turn into magic, just like Joie, well almost, cause it’s your style and your manner we love. Stay the course, God said He will direct our path if we acknowledge Him. Thank Him every morning and expect a miracle! He said He can do exceeding abundantly above all that we think or ask! God bless you dear Joie… you are loved! 🙏Rest! no stress‼️💚💚💚Terri
