I took your advise and bought the whale 500 and love it. About to order another. Sicce has a great warranty and they pick up their phones fast. Great content keep up the good work and thank u for showing the cleaning on the whale 500.

@@HaYNFishKeeper there is no need to prime once u hook the filter back up?
I do the same thing with my filters. Rinse with tap water. I can't remember what the exact time it takes to kill the beneficial bacteria we utilize in our tanks but it's over an hour and a half for the level of chlorine in tap water to kill them. Rinsing for a minute won't hurt a thing. I do this every two weeks on all my filters. 3-4 filters per tank on 12 tanks and never had a problem.

I can't get over how clean still the filter was after 5 months. Shows how good the filter is, the even flow right through the whole filter.. have to admit tho I had a few palpations watching you clean it with the tap water. 4am here in Wee N.I and im on watching. I have the Pen Plax Cascade 1500 running my 75g tank, I was planning on monthly cleanouts. seeing how relatively clean your still was after 5 months and the great glow you still had, i may push out to 3-5 months. Great vids!

Diggin ur Oscars, I have 2 albino’s myself, both of em are about 12” each and they love each other along with both G,terrors in the same tank. I know this is an older video, but I got an idea as to treating ur GT for internal parasites, I use Frits Paracleanse on new fish and once a year on established tanks and it helps tremendously, that way I’m not worrying if said parasites are infecting one fish or two, I highly recommend it, and it’s worth it’s weight in gold.

Hey! I just got this one yesterday I had much trouble with it aswell..the end of the output pump has a twisty thing on the top like how the other has the pump to prime it.. try turning it to max and seeing if it works.. maybe try raising the water level if it doesn't seem high aswell

Hi, what kind of uv do you use? I would like one that can go into my 125 tank. What do you think about the sicce EKO for 126? I have so many hob that it’s driving crazy. Filtration: Seachem tidal 110, marineland 450, and fx6.. I have 30 African juvie Cichilds in my 125. 1 will get 16 inches. And a frontosa that will get 9.
So in between getting one of these or a fluval 407?
I’m a Sicce guy nothing against fluval they just work for me but to each his own..🤙🏽💯♥️

You're going to trigger some people with your sponge rinsing, lol. Now that I use a python, I rinse my sponges under the python while draining my tanks for water changes. Mostly cause it's a little less water waste that way. Sponges would have to be soaked for a good amount of time in tap water to actually kill off bacteria. The guy at Prime Time aquatics is a microbiologist and he's mentioned this often....tap water rising is fine. KGTropicals is where I first heard of him.

I must I nearly had a stroke when you rinsed the media with tap water 😱, but what are the grey balls in the media?
It’s okay to do it trust me I have a friend who’s a Bio Chemist and teaches here at the local college only if you soak it all in tap water for 24hrs will kill your bacteria the balls are Super Bio Gravel

It all depends on how "hot" your tap water is and whether you're on a free chlorine or chloraminated source. Any estimate on how much flow your'e getting from the combined canisters loaded with media? Cheers.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much media can each tray hold? If using matrix or biogravel, would each one hold at least a kilo?
I think it can there’s a lot of room and I filled mine up… I did notice if you over fill it it may leak so be careful just a heads up 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

It can be a bunch of different things what do you have stocked in it, sounds like it may be a bacteria bloom… it can be over feeding normally a Yvonne sterilizer will take care of that 🤙🏽🤙🏽
