What is LSD: Dream Emulator?
LSD: Dream Emulator is an exploration game developed and published by Asmik Ace Entertainment for the PlayStation. In LSD, the player explores surreal environments without any objective. The player can only move and touch objects that will warp them to another setting. The game was conceived by Japanese artist Osamu Sato, who rejected the idea of games, and wanted to use the PlayStation as a medium for creating contemporary art. The game's settings are based on a dream diary kept by Asmik Ace employee Hiroko Nishikawa for over a decade.
The game received a limited release in Japan on October 22, 1998, alongside a soundtrack and a book composed of excerpts from the dream diary. LSD quickly fell into obscurity, but in years since has experienced a resurgence in popularity on the internet due to its eccentricity being an engaging point of discussion for humor blogs and Let's Play commentators. In retrospect, critics have praised its whimsical qualities, calling it one of the most "unnerving", "experimental", and "unpredictable" video games of all time. I know I was able to gain some traffic here and there on Reddit. But the RUclips algorithm is king.
I can imagine a mystery novel where a game like this would be the key to finding the culprit.
Useless fact: O is an action button, you can press it for some new events(you can ride a train in that one weird vibrant world)

Best way I played this was in PS3. I converted my location to Japan. Purchased a PS3 card online for yenn. Then bought it using a guide video to translate through the interface. Once it was downloaded. You could convert back. Cost only 5-10 bucks for me if I remember

Seems to be the theme of this channel. I guess I like to at least think of us as a growing hidden gem of RUclips until we start to pull in more consistent viewers and audience. But until then we are continuing to try and put out content so that people have other videos to enjoy once they stumbled into this channel.

@@jamto1235 if you get the original iso it would just be the same game as the "real version"
@@csyrup Yeah, that's effectively what my copy is. Someone just mirrored the disc's files (.iso) and put it on a blank CD and prettied it all up for me. I tend to avoid emulation for the most part too, but I don't say no to reproductions or other options like flash media. The main thing is that I just want to be able to experience it on the console itself.
In the future I was to make a game like this is VR. Simulating dreams and/or lucid dreams
it's "not about acid" like the background of that image is "not lsd blotter paper"
I realize the designer may have directly said so, but Japan has very differnt norms about drugs and I doubt if he would have ever said "yes of course" to a question like that because it might implicate him in a crime.
