HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 июн 2021
- This morning I went to see the Northwestern leave Seattle for Salmon Tendering Season. First I went down to the shipyard to see them head out and then I ran down to the Seattle Boat Locks to see them go through the Locks. You will see the Northwestern moving around the Fremont Cut and the Seattle Boat Locks. Today is a day I will not forget, it was awesome. I hope you all enjoy this video of the Northwestern. Don't Forget to Dream Big.

The design of the Northwestern is so unique. It's simple but also elegant. Such a beautiful design.
Unique among crabbing, but there were 1000s of marco hull fishing vessels worldwide. Its an extremely seaworthy design.
She looks amazing, all 125 feet. Great to see her all pretty again. Safe travels to salmon tendering Team Northwestern.
AWESOME , LOVE THE NORTHWESTERN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST SHOW ON TV!!!!
Great job, always liked the captain and crew of the Northwestern, been following Deadliest Catch for
many years, great video, glad your day came to see it up close
She is absolutely Majestic!!
Fantastic
Awesome, thank you!
I am glad you enjoyed the video of the Northwestern going through the Boat Locks.
Very cool
Perfection
She is a lovely boat.
I was on a U.S. NAVY Guided Missile Destroyer for 2ys 72-74, and, going out to Sea was both exciting, and, relaxing, sometimes terrifying, haven't felt those feelings since..Doc Mike USN Vet
Thanks for sharing this video
Glad you enjoyed this video. It was a day I will never forget. It took me 17 years to finally see her go through the Boat Locks.
thanks for making the video
That is truly a beautiful boat.
Great video Thank You !!!!
Thank you. I am Glad you enjoyed my video of Northwestern heading out through the Seattle Boat Locks for Salmon Tendering Season.
It is a beautiful ship. Love to watch her on the discoverychannel. I live in sweden, born in denmark.
Nice!
marco shipyard did build some beautiful ships in their lifetime. before it was marco, it was morris shain's boatyard which built luxury yachts. today, the property is covered by a strip mall with office and retail spaces....
In my opinion its the best looking boat on the show
Thank you for sharing this..It must have been so awesome for you to watch it..
Yes it was so cool to see her go through he locks and leave the Shipyard.
It's the most beautiful boat in the Bering Fishing fleet. I fell in love with her, the very first time I saw her. Such a sleek looking vessel...
She sure made a fisherman out of Jake Anderson didn't she.
The Northwestern and the Hansen Family have been my favorite Boat and Crew since Day 1 of Deadliest Catch.
Thanks for the sharing. Just happens to be my favorite ship in the series.
Same. I have loved the Northwestern and the crew since Day 1 of Deadliest Catch.
My favorite was caption Phil
Good Bye, and God be with You every step of your way.... catch what ever it is this Season..... 👋🇿🇦🌟👋🇿🇦🌟👋🇿🇦🌟👋
These are the Hiram Chittenden Locks, a real engineering marvel. I used to moor my boat just inside, and could spy on the Wizard, which moored right across the canal. I enjoy watching vessels lock through, definitely more fun than doing it myself 😉
Stalker!! Some weird shit right there!!💯🤪
The legend looks Amazing!! She must have got a new paint job.
God Speed to the Crew of the Northwestern. Come home safe Men, and lady.
Yep the Northwestern got a new paint job earlier this year. I have a couple videos of the Northwestern in Drydock getting her new Paint Job and other repairs done to her.
@@fiercelionvlogs7428 that answers my question of why she has no gear on her I figured she would be loaded down with crab pots
@@6181green they dont get get the crab pots until theyre in dutch harbor days before the season the boat works year around for tendering and such
@@floydmaster-kg3fe thank you I greatly appreciate the reply👍
@@6181green The Northwestern was heading up to Cordova Alaska for Salmon Tendering Season. She will be back in late July or early August. Then at the end of September she will head up to Dutch Harbor for King Crab and stay up there until March or April of 2022.
fantastic, best series on Tv R.I.P Nick
So Cool John I Love It!!! 😍
Awesome stuff man.
Its my favorite looking boat of the show. The only thing is Sig has to always look back to see the deck and pots etc.
The Northwestern and the Hansen Family have been my favorite since Day 1 of Deadliest Catch.
He's got cameras so he can see everything without turning around
WOW ! she looks like a white swan compared to the others . that's a big tick in the shipspotters book ! Wales UK.
I tried to go see the Cornelia Marie go through the Boat Locks 2 Saturdays ago but I was working so I could not see her head out as well. I will get my time to see her go through the locks and share it with all of you.
Always my favorite! Thanks for sharing it with us.
The Northwestern and the Hansen Family have been my Favorite Boat and Crew since Day 1 of Deadliest Catch.
Excellent video!!!!
Awesome....
The Northwestern is a beautiful boat. Definitely a favorite as well as the Wizard love those two boats.
Looks bigger than it does on TV!
I have total respect for the men and women who crab and fish off of the North Western. After seeing how high she sits out of the water when not loaded.....would not want a wave crashing over me during a Bering Sea storm.
Used to go thru that lock on the Umatilla reef lightship in 1964-65. If you notice the center structure holding up train tracks, we hit that after loosing our reverse coupling! I even took kayak thru there. Great memories! Thanks
@Caspar GEIST Oh man, the last pictures I saw of it broken my heart. Looked like a rusty derelict. I spent a year on the old gal. Fond memories.
cool!
So thrilling..............................
So cool!!
Awesome , Thanks F.L.V.
Great video. thanks for taking the time to record and post it.
I had a blast going to see the Northwestern go through the Boat Locks for the first time this week. I hope to see more Deadliest Catch Boats go through he Boat Locks in the near future. So stay tuned for those videos in the future.
Thank you verry mutch for this video, greetz:Peer.
Now that's one cool looking fishing trawler.
Yes she is. The Northwestern and the Hansen Family have been my favorite since day 1 of Deadliest Catch.
That was cool
Love it! I wish I was there!
That was pretty cool.👍👍👍
Thank for sharing. Love the new paint job on the Northwestern.
Nice catch 🤠
What a sight. Must be getting ready for the salmon season..
Yep the Northwestern is heading up to Alaska for Salmon Tendering Season right now.
@@fiercelionvlogs7428 ahhhh the actual answer of why she has no crab pots on her makes total sense now👍
Interesting video - The maneuverability of the boat was intriguing. My family and I met Edgar Hansen at the NY State Fair (Syr. NY) several years ago for the Discovery Channel was promoting them (Jake Anderson was to attend but couldn't). It was a pretty big crowd. Seemed like a nice guy - gave us an autograph to give to our son who couldn't be there. Anyway, I made a comment to him pointing to the crowds and said, "Did you ever think that this documentary you are part of would've been this big?" He looked out and I could've sworn he had a look of revelation and wonderment of the whole thing. Thanks for sharing this!
Now he's in trouble
That was really cool to see, thanks
I got to Help unload the northwestern in Coos bay Oregon , before there was a show in late 90’s . They were drag line fishing for bottom fish at the time and was more or less testing the waters !
To see her up close as you did would of been a highlight of my life and something id never forget
That was my first time I had been that close to the Northwestern. I saw her under way in 2010 when we were just leaving Seattle on a Cruise to Alaska. As we passed them on the cruise they honked their horn at us. It was also my first time to see her go through the Boat Locks as well. It was so cool. I will not soon forget that day.
Jesus, you need to get out more.
You need to get out more .
Bob im a man and i get out alot way more then you
@@kevinschnepper8426 How the fuck would you know?
This was lovely to watch.
Who else jumped at the horn? I had it at full volume to try and hear what they were saying and didn't expect that
You can see it made me jump as well when my camera shook at around 11 minutes and 30 seconds. Tomorrow I am planning on going to see the Southern Wind that is in Drydock right now at a local Shipyard. Next week the Northwestern will be heading out for Salmon Tendering Season. I am going to try and catch her heading out like I did last year. So, stay tuned for those videos.
I caught the Cornelia Marie in Ballard back in 2018 by the Fred Myer, it was like seeing a star
Great video, man. I love it down there so much I bought a boat and slip at Stimson Marina (2 slips away from the Northwestern). I did some fishing for a few seasons and absolutely loved and miss it. Can't wait to get back out there. Best of luck and hope to see ya around the yard. Keep the vids coming!
Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed this video of the Northwestern Heading out for Salmon Tendering Season a couple of years ago.
Brill, would love to have seen them!!
Excellent video
It's my favorite boat on the show
Same. I have been a fan of the Northwestern and the Crew since Day 1 of Deadliest Catch.
@@fiercelionvlogs7428 ME TOO! THANKS FOR SHARING THIS FOR ALL US FOLKS DOWN SOUTH!
So funny people
Geek out over seeing a boat. I totally understand it here.
Thank you for a great video
Was very surprised that most of the expensive ships on Deadliest Catch can only do about 15 knots. Scary yet a lot of them only have a single prop. Brave men performing dangerous work.
Most of them don't even go that fast.
Great the way it was blowing some smoke during the turn backing out of the slip on the hard throttle-ups.
I really like how she sounds too
@@6181green The Northwestern is a lot quieter than the Cornelia Marie. The Northwestern's engines sound good as well.
Gotta admit, for a crab boat, the Northwestern has some pretty lines. Lots of working space astern and a nice wide pilothouse.
Got to have a place to stack the pots. She was designed by Sig's father. There is a nice documentary about the Hansen family, I am sure you can find it, and it talks extensively about the boat.
Great shots of the Northwestern, thanks for sharing Bro 👍👍👍
Great Catch👍
I would like to see this vessel in Seattle and the Cornelia Marie while she is in Hawaiʻi. Ships/boats always have interesting spirits and the ability to be objects that are actually alive.
I almost got to see the Corneila Marie go through the Boat Lock about 3 weeks ago. I would have gone down to see her head through them but I was working so I could not go and catch that.
super to see this,i folow them on Discovery channel Europe in the Netherlands. yes,i am Dutch from Den Helder navy harbor.
Good job.
Great video first time I've seen NW heading out other than TV. Good Job and thank you.
Thank You. That was my first time seeing her go through the Boat Locks. It was so cool to experience the Northwestern going through the Locks.
Nice vid 👍
Considering where the engines are that must be an awfully long prop shaft !!
It’s Bluetooth
@@chevybigblock3311 LOL that is really funny.

Cool video!! Thanks for posting! I have cruised in my boat from Lake Washington to Lake Union where she was tied up in Ballard in 2008. Time Bandit was in drydock there too, oh and the Wizard
I have seen the Northwestern, The Wizard and the Southern Wind at the Shipyard in Ballard over the last 3 years.
She rides a little higher without stacks of crab pots
🤔 I wonder why?
👍🌞
Ya gotta love the Pacific North Wet.
Fantastic video, I live in Scotland and just love the show, was Sig at the wheel, or helm?.
Thank you so much for uploading this video.
Kind regards from Scotland 🏴
Johnny
Wow, that was a nice catch on a video, the Northwest. How did you know it was there? I’ve been watching the Northwest on several Deadliest Catch. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Looks strange to see wave runners on deck. Love this boat and family
When dearest catch first came out the northwestern was my favorite boat. Still is . a group of everyday fisherman have grown to reach ceberty heights without the ego . they came from humble beginnings look at them now
geweldig mooi filmpje. groetjes uit holland
looks like northwestern is transporting a pair of waverunners on her aft deck, didsn't think people used those in alaska due to the always-freezing cold water..
Wow, it's SO much smaller than it looks on the show! I'm shocked! I had been under the impression that it were profoundly longer, wider, and taller, than it truly seems to be. I wonder why there appears to be such a significant size variation, between your footage, and the footage used for the show. I guess it's possible that, for some reason, the show, intentionally, tries to utilize angles that make it appear larger; however, I can't quite determine why they would even want, or bother, to do such a thing!🧐🤯
It’s just our own perspective have a look 6:28 compared to the beginning it isn’t a small vessel 🚢
@@alexanderstevens145
There's about owned by Trident Seafoods called the Bountiful. It's about 180 feet long, but when you go by it, it doesn't look 180.
Sig Hansen is the man on that fleet ✌🤟
So is this a completely different crew than the Discovery crew? I imagine they have different crews for different seasons.
Edgar was at the Helm of the Northwestern, Norman was on the deck and walked toward the Wheelhouse of the Northwestern and I don't know the other 2 crew members for Salmon Tendering Season.
on with it
Northwestern is my favorite ship from the show, and it is great that Sig is from the same country as me.
What country is that?
@@sabre-ub3op Norway
Thank you for your video
Is Sig at the helm?
It was Edgar Hansen at the Helm of the Northwestern on Monday.
Awesome, love Edgar
It was called rooters.
So PNW raining.......

Sig, where are you?!?! Nice video, thanks!
You had 666 subcribers... thought I'd get you across that number.. . Even though I'm not superstitious.....
Thank you for Subscribing. I hope you enjoy my content.
did you see capt Hanson on board or was it edgar at the helm
How did you know she was docking at that place and was sig the captain
I would think the nonstop humming of the Diesel engine in your ear, week after week, would be enough to drive you bonkers
It is, but you get used to it. I work on a 70 ft salmon troller....and in the evening when all work is done and the engine shuts down...its heavenly
From what I understand from friends who work in the maritime industry, it's actually jarring to NOT hear the engines humming away.
That really loud humming was another fishing boat ahead of the Northwestern called the Flicka.
@@fiercelionvlogs7428 Wait wait wait wait wait... Flicka as is "Formerly homeported in Cape May, NJ" Flicka?
When does this happen on average? I would love to see this
They were heading up at the beginning of June to do Salmon Tendering Season. Right now the Northwestern is docked in Dutch harbor for Opillio Season. She should be back in town in late March or early April and then head up for Salmon Tendering Season in June. She usually gets back in Late July or early August before she heads back Up to Dutch Harbor for King Crab and Opillio Crab Season in Late September. I hope this helps with your plans on coming to see the Northwestern.
@@fiercelionvlogs7428 so pretty much go to the docks between that time and hope it's that day? Lol. you just happened to be there while this was filmed?
@@alexm8267 I heard a rumor that the Northwestern was going to be leaving town that day. I kind of knew they would be leaving in the late morning early afternoon from past posts on the Northwestern Fan Group on Facebook. I also just timed it perfectly because about 20 minutes after I got to the Shipyard the Northwestern pulled out of the slip to head through the Boat Locks.
Sig was going to pick up the crew for another crab season!
They are heading up to Alaska for Salmon Tendering Season right now.
