Was about to say the same. Very rough sea while having this very dangerous situation and the miracles of the weather gods made it look like it was filmed in a swimming pool when they do their shenanigans
They splice the footage together to make is shirt for youtube. On the show they got together near the port to light it up.

In international waters if someone is stealing your gear cant you basically arm up and take em out? I mean I thought it was still legal to unalive pirates.
International law states that the waters that are declared as international waters are subject to fewer laws and as such self defense and protection of ones property cannot be violated and can be enforced by the captain of the vessel which includes deadly force

I guess you're referring to the Bugaled Breizh. That's the only instance I've ever heard of and even that was never confirmed (no damage to the Bugaled Breizh's trawling equipment).

One of the many questions that leads me to believe this entire thing was staged. Many different bits of footage, clipped, cut, edited and spliced together to manufacturer a more compelling crisis scenario. There’s something about those radar return images and radio dialogues that feel…artificial.

There might be an attempt to recover the gear. Those nets are pretty costly to replace. If not, there is still the chance that they might see the episode.

you obviously never been on a ship... as a former Navy Vet let me inform you... in the ocean as long as you are more than 3 miles off coast you can dump trash.... do you think those vessels keep trash onboard the entire trip lol.. actually burning the nets is better than just dumping it for fish to get caught in...

@andyhandyman2118 there's an exclusive economic zone that goes about 200 miles off shore. It might be okay to transit but you can't fish it or do anything else without permission as far as I know.

Seas weren’t that rough. Time Bandit was full throttle. Even calm seas will froth over a ship that big running that fast. As soon as Sig got hung up and had to stop, you could see the ocean was relatively calm.
She totally missed with that flair

I love soap operas, this is the greatest one ever! Could work on the acting and continuity though.
As usual, a load of dramatic music and constant scene cuts to add to the intensity of the situation when actually sod all happens.

International law dicates that anything beyond 12 miles or 10km from registered coastline is international waters.
Not for the us it isnt the us has a 100mile economic zone that it enforces because its the us .

As a 23yr retired Army vet, i went to other countries to do my job....where's the Mud Puddle Navy (Coast Guard) at.....after all it's in their dam name description......COAST guard.
Alaska and the Islands cover an enormous amount of territory. The Coast Guard can't be everywhere at the same time.
