I actually used the block & evasion technique very effectively in a recent spar. Now to be able to step in as you suggested grabbing your opponent's bicep as method of control on the way to doing a clinch or something on the inside is a concept that I've heard before (variation of) but not explained so simple and effective as you have here. And it's something I've often been timid when attempting but your teaching inspires confidence to go for it after drilling - practice. Just really grateful you're sharing your knowledge with martial artist enthusiasts so freely. Thanks for what you do!
Man I love your vids, entertaining, well-explained and high value:time ratio. I also love your wedge block, I learnt from your vid on defence progression drill (imo should be taught to all beginners before sparring) and it upped my sparring game so much. Curious where “the wedge” came from cos Joe was the first I saw, but also later Sylvie von Douglas Ittu learnt it from an oldskool Muay Thai dude, and others. Gabriel Varga also pointed out it was used by Ramon Dekkers in his “ultra high guard”. Anyway imo it’s goated 🦾🦾
Joe is an amazing fighter, announcer and instructor! Multi-talented dude!
