@@nesq4104 I know everything about the history of Hawaii. Been living here for 20 years and love the hawaiian culture. Millionaires will come and go. Different generations and minset. Puerto Rico is older than Hawaii in terms of colonization. They already has their ways. In fact even when the US took over, they wanted to change a lot of things and the puerto ricans didnt allow it. The people in PR, the majority are puerto ricans. Hawaii has been taken by Filipinos, chinese, samoans, tongans, miicronesians and puerto ricans. Is a diferent mindset, especially when the country is divided and some want statehood and some want independence.

By the way the USA and its Allies fought bravely against the Nazis. PR blames everyone else for their problems cept cant look at them selves. In comparison Jews are doing way better then PR after actually being persucuted by real Nazis. PRs are taught victimization from a young age its a shame.

Cuba today , is an independent nation...Puerto Rico a vassal state of the US....despite attempts by its people to fight for independence ...When Mao Tse Tung was asked if the French Revolution was worth it, he said it was too early to say....With respect to Cuba and its revolution all it took was less than 60 years and two hurricanes to validate it! Both islands were battered last year by two different hurricanes...Irma and Maria...two weeks apart...Cuba today , one year on from the hurricaneIrma ,an independent nation ,is up and running...despite a crippling embargo on it ...whereas Puerto Rico, a US state is .....after Hurricane Maria ....is nearly beyond redemption.

That so-called law called a "Gag Law" for Puerto Ricans was really "Jim Crow" laws pushed in the Caribbean. They won't admit this but what this man is talking about is actually true! My grandfather on my mom's side suffered because of this treatment and saw that to survive they were forced to move to the United States and were part of the Diaspora. I served in the US military and retired after 20 years, I was born in the state of Connecticut, but now I live in Puerto Rico and basically, after many years all I see is that we are dwindling. If you subject any people to cruel living then don't complain if they find a way to swindle government money and make it work for the family. This is why there is a lot of corruption. It will probably take Jesus Christ to settle the question about Puerto Rico. But the corruption learned in Puerto Rico was taught by the Democrat Party of the United State. The Republic Party never raises its hand to help Puerto Rico. Why? Because they don't invest in Puerto Rico. Why? Because the Democrats are the ones that run the government of Puerto Rico. The two major parties of Puerto Rico are run by the Democrat Party of the US. There is a Republican Party in Puerto Rico but the Independence Party of Puerto Rico is greater than the Republican Party of Puerto Rico. To correct what is happening in Puerto Rico, Congress has to incorporate the territory. Even though we have a Congress, House of Representatives, and a Senate, the United States Congress can vote to sell Puerto Rico because of its unincorporated status. On our island, we all understand this position and we don't appreciate it. Incorporate Puerto Rico and we will ask the Congress to be added to the United States. If the government of the United States continues this treatment, we could possibly ask to have the same status that some islands in the Pacific Ocean have. They are a free nation with US protection. Why can't we have this option? We are incarcerated! Let us be free! I am of a pro-statehood opinion, but this treatment makes me want the US to let us go. This can only be solved by the US Congress! The ball is on your court for many years now and many promises have been made and not kept! That is about over 100 years now. When will the United States treat us like full-fledged citizens!

The real power of the Ricans is the Jones Act itself. It gives them the hidden option of 4 citizenships. Nationals, US citizens, PR citizenship and European citizenship. The Treaty of Paris (1899 after the invasion of 1898) was never signed by any puertorrican. That is why we preserve our own citizenship if we apply for it. Apply for a Puerto Rico citizenship certificate at PR Dept of State ($36) and by moving to Spain for a year you are European. It is sad that, we all fail many a times to offer a fair analysis on many RUclips videos because of pure laziness or indifference. In the case of Puerto Rico, a colony of the US for 122 years, comments are made by people who have never lived on the island… out of ignorance, and from the regurgitated comments of others.
I read Dr. Denis’ book and was pleasantly surprised by the notes, which includes related photos, epilogue, extensive bibliography, and recommendations. Those who criticize this man and/or the people of Puerto Rico do so unfairly. I posit the following questions: Can they offer an objective assessment of the book? I mean, a cohesive, logical reason why the book is not factual? Can the critics offer a coherent explanation as to why the USA maintains the territory of Puerto Rico as a possession IF the island is a financial burden?
Yes, it is true as Dr. Denis mentions, the island has been governed by corrupt leaders. Yes, it is true we have a “debt” of $70+ Billion dollars with the US. for quite a some time. Therefore, it is necessary to inform the misinformed so they can understand that such a debt has been paid several times over.
The numbers presented here were based n the research done by Dr. Rosario Rivera, Professor at the University of Cayey, Puerto Rico, PhD in Economic Development. The information presented here is a simple interpretation of the data based on the fiscal year 2008-2009. The amounts do vary due to the economy of each year, however, the percentages are pretty much consistent, according to the sources. It does shows the monies the USA sends to Puerto Rico vs. the monies Puerto Rico sends to the USA:
    From USA to Puerto Rico:
    - Federal Aids (infrastructure) …………… $2.7 Billions per year
    - Unilateral Social Programs ……………….$1.9 Billions per year (this only helps 37% of the population
    Avg. of $125 per family).
TOTAL: $4.6 Billions per year. Amount of aid US sends to Puerto Rico unilaterally.
    From Puerto Rico to USA:
    - Transferred Aid (contributions, unemployment, retirement) ………………….. $8.9 Billions per year.
This is money out of the pockets of working Puerto Ricans such as Social Security, pensions, disability, etc
    - Registered Merchandise ……………………………………………………………………. $22.6 Billions per year
(85% of food and goods consumption purchased from the USA alone). The US mercantile ships is the
most expensive fleet in the world!
    - Loss of Capital (due to USA companies, stores, pharmaceuticals gains)….. $34 Billions per year
    - Cabotage Law imposed by USA (Jones Act 1917) …………………………………..$1.5 Billions per year or
    $2,000 per family/year.
TOTAL: $71.6 Billions per year. This amount US collected from P.R. during the fiscal year 2008-2009.
Summary: While the USA sent aid to Puerto Rico totaling $4.6 Billions during that specific fiscal year, the USA collected $71.6 Billions during the indicated fiscal year. The amounts varies from year to year, but the percentages don’t change considerably, according to sources, Puerto Rico has duly paid the $70+ Billions debt over, several times. Also, since 1917, contribution exemptions were granted to US corporations for 5 years to promote businesses growth to encourage the local economy. Many businesses have never started paying their contributions; companies which have been established in P.R. for decades.
Note: I love the American people, identify with the American people, and consider myself an American, Love this country and am proud to live on one of the greatest countries in the world. That being said, my island has painstakingly paid the price of being one of the oldest colonies in the world. Also, we are paying far much more money to the mainland than what we are receiving, so, we have never received any financial favors from anyone.

I've had his book for over 3 years and kept putting it down because my heart aches at the atrocities highlighted to our people. The more one knows the angrier one gets and it's important we teach our kids at a very young age so they can understand why we're here currently. He's very informative and unfortunately neither party cares to do enough for us to move forward. So many ppl are still voting against their best interest and somehow thinks statehood will solve all their problems. Just like he said .. these politicians are more worried about lining their pockets. I'm hopeful real progressives can change the outcome especially for our kids. Solely saying what we want to hear for optics is not enough along with empty promises.

In the United States, we have basically two political parties, Democrats and Republicans. These two parties have abused their power against our island. Today, the two major parties in Puerto Rico, are Popular and PNP. The difference between these two parties is, that there is none, both of these parties are part of the National Democratic Party of the United States. There is one Republican Party, but they are not considered part of the process. The Republican Party of Puerto Rico are the weakest party, even by United States standard. Even Bernnie Sander's political party is by measure, greater than the Republican Party of Puerto Rico. I had thought that the PNP in Puerto Rico was the Republican Party of Puerto Rico. When I found out that they weren't, I realized that Puerto Rico was in greater danger! Because the Democrats have basically kept the Republican party out of Puerto Rico, with their politics against the U.S. Republicans and their war with our island to keep it as a Democrat stronghold this allowed their position on the island's politics. That is why the Democrats want Puerto Rico to be the 51st or possibly the 52nd state of the union. This is why the Republicans don't want Puerto Rico. Why? Because there is no strong representation for the Republican Party. They're here just by name Only! This can only change if the PNP becomes the Republican representation of the U.S. Republican Party here on the Island. Why does the Democrat Party have two Democrat Parties in Puerto Rico? Maybe in the past, they wanted to be part of the U.S. Republican Party, but they already had representation that was weak, yet today, they are very weak. Too much injustice has been done to Puerto Rico. This is why its politics are weak, so they applied with the Democrat Party, who did not turn them away and all this is just too much injustice. When will the people of the United States give us justice? If not, why keep us as citizens with no vote! We are 2nd class citizens. We are sent to many wars and we are not given the right to elect the President of the United States. We need the U.S. Congress to change our territory status. Make us full-fledged citizens or give us LIBERTY. We were invaded and taken over. Where is our Justice?

The Banco Español de Puerto Rico was renamed Bank of Puerto Rico and issued bills equivalent to the United States dollar, creating the Puerto Rican dollar. In 1900, the US forced everyone to exchange their Puerto Rican currency for US dollars and devalued the Puerto Rican dollar by 40 percent. Now the reason is because the US would not be able to exploit the colony if it became a state, and us companies pay around 4% taxes there vs. 28 to 35% on the mainland. Statehood- poorest state in the union, Loss of culture, language, probably the largest gentrification ever. Independence- economy? no manufacturing, no agricultural economy. Openers itself up to socialist ideologies. If you look at the other independent nations in the Caribbean, it’s the illusion of independence. They are independent on paper but very much dependent on their former colonizers or the United States economically. Or they sell off all their utilities, farms n natural resources to private companies or other nations. It’s a really tough situation, something that benefits both sides needs to be created. At this point I don’t think most Puerto Rican’s on the island are ready to give up their American citizenship.

“Silence to discrimination; supports injustice!”--Research-Exposé (with Facts-Truth-Reason)
**Equality-Fairness for US Citizens-Veterans in US Territory of Puerto Rico (PR)!**
“Patriots cry for Justice-a Call to Arms (Civic Action)-for Fairness-Equality!”
SUM: Since, 1898 (for over 120 years)--fellow, but, 2d Class US Citizens-American Veterans (part of “We the People”), in the US Territory of PR (with more US Citizens than 22 States) -- have made many valuable contributions to our USA! But, until TODAY, Puerto Ricans face FEDERAL unfair Treatment/institutional discrimination-NO Federal “consent of the governed” or full Rights; NO blood earned Benefits; NO Parity in Federal Laws-Funds; NO permanent statutory US Citizenship (even in a State)--that other US Citizens-American Veterans have, per our US Constitution; noble US Flag- that represents all “WE THE PEOPLE”!
o Puerto Ricans face a complex CRISIS which major ROOT components are--
    *Economic-Jobs; Fiscal-Debt; Infrastructure; Social-Humanitarian; Status-Equality*
*Where each PART affects the other; the Federal undemocratic Territorial (Colonial) Status affects everything. NO Federal Parity in Law (discrimination) ties Puerto Rican hands to compete on a level Playing Field!
    • The Federal Government (US President; US Congress; US Federal-Supreme Court)- has done some good things, but, incongruently doesn’t FAIRLY treat fellow US Citizens-American Veterans, in the US Territory of PR, the same as those in the States, even while Puerto Ricans are part of “WE THE PEOPLE”; nor has the Federal Government done anything for 120+ years to fix-remedy an unjust Federal undemocratic situation--per the trite Territorial Clause-1787, and US Supreme Court Insular Cases-1901-1925+ when institutional Racism was in vogue…, but, is the covert Federal Governing Law today!
    • There is a big Exodus to the States that hurts PR’s Economy… as it taxes State-Local resources…
    • Loyal US Puerto Ricans sacrifice; make great contributions to our noble US, since 1513, when their Ancestors (1st Governor of PR) came to the now US--107 years before the Pilgrims; fought in the War of Independence (1776)… as today brave US Veterans-shed sweat, blood, and tears for our US Flag!
Patriots of True Grit call for Civic ACTION to get the Federal Government to do Right-- concurrently solve the root causes of the colossal Crisis; not make excuses, cover-up, generalize, speculate, distort, stereotype or misinform-as that SUPPORTS discrimination or closet racism, since 1898!
SOLVE- The Federal Government should do its DUTY-provide FAIR TREATMENT-EQUAL RIGHTS for ALL “WE THE PEOPLE” (not some)! Take concurrent ACTION-Fix, with PR Government--
    “Economic-Jobs; Fiscal; Infrastructure; Humanitarian; Status-Equality-Crisis”
    • Federal-US SUPREME Court: Overturn/revoke discriminatory and racist Insular Cases (1901-1925+)
    • PASS HR 4901; Incorporate; grant STATEHOOD; admit fellow loyal US Citizens-US Veterans-- to our “UNION of STATES” with own-- STATE- PR Identity; Constitution; Flag; and Sovereignty; UNITED- under our US Constitution-noble US Flag-that represents ALL the PEOPLE-States and Territories.
**Alternative--do Referendum on NON-Territorial Constitutional defined Options, which only are:
STATEHOOD vs INDEPENDENCE or INDEPENDENCE w/ PACT of “Free Association
**Those with a non-permanent statutory US Citizenship, even if residing in the States, should participate in any Status Plebiscite, because the outcome could affect them (can lose US Citizenship).
    Best Option: EQUALITY+PROGRESS=STATEHOOD with DIGNITY!
May the “Force” of the “UNION” be with you!
Let the Truth liberate ignorance! INFORM-SHARE!
*ASK POLITICIANS-Will you allow Federal discrimination (since 1898) against 2d Class US Citizens-American Veterans (part of “We The People”) in the US Territory of Puerto Rico (with more US Citizens than 22 States) OR support FAIRNESS-EQUALITY through STATEHOOD or only ALTERNATIVE: Non-Territorial Referendum: STATEHOOD vs INDEPENDENCE (without or with PACT of Free Association)?
*You are either for FAIRNESS-Equal Rights or you excuse-support 120+ years of Federal discrimination!
CONTACT: MEDIA; US President and US Congress (DO: Resolutions; Emails; Letters; Forums; Town Halls…) Speak-up for Right! *Don’t only put Band-Aids on the grave Puerto Rican Crisis (since 1898), but, RESOLVE it!

If you are going to invite me to be part of your family and you are going to treat me badly and with hypocrisy ... I don't want to be part of your family. You know what, we Puerto Rican’s keep talking and talking, we need to have fathers in the home and men that are serious about morals and values. How about doing that first instead of taking the tax payers money? Look at Cuba and the Dominican Republic, you think they weren’t threatened too? But they stood up and did not take the easy way out.
