    The jet had 3 engines left, so why would it crash? Maybe pilots weren't trained for such an incident and panicked or some controls were lost when engine tore off. Low altitude didn't give any time to do much?? Hope some survived. Thanks Maximus

    • @Brewbug

      Looked like an out of control fire that could have impacted the integrity of the wing. The smoke plume did not leave much hope for any survivors.

    • @jamiecheslo
      @jamiecheslo 2 месяца назад +9

      I am thinking that when the engine departed the wing, it may have ripped several hydraulic lines, thus causing the aircraft to lose control. With the obvious lack of altitude, there may have been little the pilots could do at that point. I also agree that the fire on the wing looked pretty catastrophic. Very similar to the Chicago O'Hare crash in 1979.

    • @albertsammut433
      @albertsammut433 2 месяца назад +4

      A jet engine that size weighs a number of tonnes..If it departs from its mounting pylon the plane becomes unbalanced in its roll axis as the opposite heavier wing swings down..The pilots would have needed full aileron to compensate to keep the wings level..Now with little chance of banking the airplane and flying basically straight..this too will add to its final affliction..

    What's horrifying, is tha it reminds of a crash that happened in Chicago, Illinois on May 25,1979. A McDonnell Douglas DC-10, taking off from O'hare airport, lost an engine and crashed in a field not too far from the runway. In total, 273 people died. I was 14 when it happened and 45 years later, the picture of the plane rolling over on it's side before crashing in a ball of flame, is still haunting.😱😕The investigation revealed, that the airline was using substandard maintenance procedures that damaged the pylon holding the engine onto the wing.

    • @kw8757
      @kw8757 2 месяца назад +7

      When you say “sub standard maintenance procedures “, is that the crash caused because they were using a forklift truck or something to line up the engine with the pilon?

    • @grumpy3543
      @grumpy3543 2 месяца назад +4

      @@kw8757yes. They used a forklift. But the forklift isn’t why it came off. They took the engine off for maintenance using the wrong sets of bolts. They were damaged and worn from not using the correct procedure. They finally cracked and the engine shot forward and up and over then behind the wing. It tore out the hydraulics and the flaps and slats retracted causing a roll

    Looks like losing an engine was the least of the pilot's problems. He still had three other engines to land safely with, but still crashed, mostly likely because the plane had been badly serviced. Typical for Russia.

    Was the plane manufactured by Boeing?

      Made by the Russian Ilyushin, it's one of the domestic companies that build military/commercial jets
      Seems like a catastrophic engine failure but the Ilyushin has 4 engines so it can fly normally with only 3 engines, the pilot is trained for such emergencies. I hope nobody got hurt

    On February 4, 2023, the engine of a Russian charter plane operated by Azur Air caught fire before takeoff from Phuket International Airport, forcing the pilot to abort the flight. The plane was a 26-year-old Boeing 767-306ER carrying 309 passengers and 12 crew members. The pilot reportedly blew the right engine, causing smoke to be spotted by air traffic contro

      Totally not the same plane here. Google that model, and you’ll see it’s not even visually the same design at all.
