I love that you are a everyday Joe and show how mistakes can be made. It really sucks to watch diy videos that edit themselves with a perfect project then when I do it I find all the pitfalls and struggles. Nice job Matt, love the channel and keep up the great job.
Matt, great video. You show the success and the challenges of the job, didn't edit out any mistakes to make yourself look perfect. You do that in all your videos, real, like it is, to include positive and negative inspection of the product. Excellent job. Love the look of the side skirts. The shape is nice, has a curvaceous look that goes well with the car. Thanks
I use a few different sizes of angled needle nose pliers to squeeze those clips together. The trim sticks (plastic or metal) are for when you can’t get to them from the back. A little masking tape will help protect the paint too, not perfect, but it helps.
A thin line of clear caulking along the top of the sidemoulding prevents any dirt from getting between the moulding and the paint. You never see it after it dries. Simple to remove, no harm.
I know this is somewhat of an older post, but I thought I'd share this. Working in a bodyshop, when dealing with any type of clip or bracket that holds plastic parts on, we use a product called RubberPro. It's made by Crest. It is supposed to be used for the revitalization of rubber trim, but it has a slick property to it that allows plastic clips and trim, think grill tabs here, to separate easier. Not entirely sure if ArmourAll would work in it's place but I think any rubber treatment that is kinda slippery should do the trick.
I love the way skirts work but I’m hesitant to do the install. I already have a little struggle getting in and out of the car now. Last thing I want to do rub and kick these eachtime entering and exiting.
Thanks for the video. I damaged my right side rocker panel going over some road debris. I ordered the replacement rocker from thatgmpartsguy and got it painted at a local body shop. I followed your installation instructions and problem solved. Those white bottom clips also gave me some grief.
I ordered me a set of OEM factory ZL1 rockers.... Hope my originals come off easy... I'll be watching this over and over before they new ones arrive so I'll know more what is the easiest way to remove the old rockers... And what can go wrong 😁
I just noticed today that ACS Composite now offers a set of splash guards that fit snug with the rocker panels. They look really good on the website. I'm going to try them out.
Dude! When you picked that one up & swung it around, I thought you were going to accidentally hit the car. It looks like it was millimeters close. I know you’re very good, but that made my heart skip a beat. Maybe you were doing it to add suspense to the video. Lol Thanks for ALL you do, Matt. 👊
I hesitated and still hesitate to put a ground efx kit on mine because I don't want to have to do what u did if something comes out that I like better. IMO I would have done white side skirts on your car with black accents simply because almost everyone is going to go black side skirts. Thanks for the video's.
Nice video! I just traded my 2017 1LT V6 practice car for a new 2018 2SS. The really fun part was moving some of the mods from the old to the new, it's easier the second time!
Noticed that jack stands your using Matt looks like the ones recalled by harbor freight. Reason was it is easy to hit that lever and release it. I was cringing when u were under the car and your arm was hitting the lever.
Thanks for doing this video Matt I have been back and forth on that Kit, I think it is worth it! Looks amazing, I will get it for my Camaro now should look good with the digital gray my spoiler and front and all the trimming are black so its perfect! Keep up the videos. I'm at a stand still on my car until I finish with my other builds.
Great video Matt. Thank you for all you do for us Camaro Fans. Sorry, but i liked the other ones better but everyone has different tastes. You guys did a clean install.
Ok new OEM ZL1 rockers are here and painted... Do you have to remove the white bottom clips from the rockers and install them first? All clips were pre installed on my rockers.
Nice. Thanks for the install video. Been waiting a while for these. I wanna put it on my SS Fifty Edition. I was thinking of painting it the same color as the car to match the front splitter? 🤔 What do you think Matt?
That would be a good how to video. Hint hint. Lol I have never done that before. Can you tell me a little bit about how you did that? I watched a RUclips video, but I don't know how I feel about spraying a black substance on my new white car. Lol
Hey Matt I had a question for you. Do you have a very small gap between your car and side skirts at one end? I do. It's less than 1/8 of an inch. Most people wouldn't even notice it but I am a perfectionist. I put pressure on the skirt when I drilled my holes. So just wondering if this common or if I messed it up. Thanks. Great videos. They have been very helpful to me.
Matt, love your videos. Aesthetically what are your thoughts on the ACS vs C7 Carbon ones you installed? I can definitely tell a difference on the rear design of these. Lastly, what is your rear jackstand under?
ACS Composite has a great product and so does C7 Carbon. Hard to really grade them both. My rear stands are on the main support beam (black) over the rear axels
I went with C7 Carbon. I was a little shocked by the rear end of the ACS version. It tapers down and doesn't actually cover the rocker panel fully at the back. It looks like a design flaw... even if wasn't. Any buyers should also note that the actual ZL1 side skirts (which was integrated into the rocker panel itself) pop out just under the door while both ACS and C7 Carbon leave an inch or two of space below the door. This causes there be be addition lines along panels. The Anderson Composites are larger and unlike other aftermarket side skirts they hug the bottom of the doorframe... but I dislike how bulky their front and rears are... popping out and completely ignoring the natural lines of the wheel wells. C7 carbon ended up being a good balance for me.
Slick Rick Da Rula I get alot of my cosmetic mods from second hand online stores. Not worth paying hundreds more when it's going to look the exact same.
Hey Matt I went for a drive on mine 18 1LE and noticed my rocker panel was separating from the quarter panel, u can actually push it in and is loose, u think the yellow clip behind is broken, I don't get it my car only has 12k miles. The loose panel is by rear tire
How tight against the body did yours end up? Both my splitter and side skirts have a small gap. No matter what I did, I could not get them lined up without one even before I started riveting.
Looked like orange peel in the paint. At least buffing seemed to help, but you shouldn't of had to do that straight from the factory... They look good on the car though!
This guy talks entirely too much s***.... Don't talk about it ..be about it.... Go ahead and install the product.... What is this a talk show ? ????? OR A instruction video????

They look sharp, my only issue was rubbing my leg on them in and out the car

Thanks for ALL you do, Matt. 👊
When I was editing the video I had no idea I got that close...
LethalGarage You’re just THAT good.
Would love to see an install on the skip shift eliminator.
So much respect for you matt. Camaro is always looking fresh. Wish I could do all my work on my Camaro. Thank you for all the great videos.

They are not the same model
Been waiting a month already for the painted ones to be back in stock with ACS! Definitely want these for my SS
They make a plastic version of the clip removal tool you have that helps prevent scratching the paint.
I have those and they were bending and breaking.
Very nice car I like to get one one of these days right now I'm enjoying my 2010ss
Looking good Mat

Off topic question tire and rim sizes ?? Btw side skirts look 👀 great 👍
285/35/20 and 315/30/20
In a manner of time, I will be able to take my Camaro apart from just watching you do it. LoL. Great workmanship!!!
would be so nice if i could be out in the garage with the door open. its 1deg out side here glad i have a heated garage
Whoo 30k congrats Matt
Lethal camaro the best , always making great videos , 👌🏽

Wait... what?

Yup. I used plasti dip to hide it
Matt, love your videos.
SK GT I was wondering the same thing. C7’s being about $300 cheaper seems like a really good deal then.
I went with C7 Carbon. I was a little shocked by the rear end of the ACS version. It tapers down and doesn't actually cover the rocker panel fully at the back. I notice the end of these skirts dont really cover the back smh I been looking at these for weeks lol back to square 1
Hey Matt out of all the 6th gen zl1 styled side skirts you’ve installed which brand would you recommend?
Hey Matt will you be selling your side skirts? If so I am interested
I feel like every month you come out with a new rocker or splitter vid
Been installing them on other cars
very cool looking
what size rivets did you use Matt? Thanks for the great video again.
The ones it came with? I am honestly not sure Anymore :(
3/16 diameter & half inch depth is what they come with
Looks awesome!!!
Would you sell your old gm ones?
What are your thoughts on the C7 carbon side skirts gloss black? Those ones are a little more in my price range LOL
They are nice
Slick Rick Da Rula Get those, literally the same thing. Just not a big name brand like acs.
Slick Rick Da Rula I get alot of my cosmetic mods from second hand online stores. Not worth paying hundreds more when it's going to look the exact same.
The Fitness Life Hey what splitter do you have on your car (assuming the yellow SS is yours). Looks cool how it wraps over the lip
is that basically the same color as the car, was it color matched?
Looking good
I messed up on my side skirts and wanna to replace the body panels but I’m not sure how much will it cost and if dealer has it.
I have a 2018 Camaro 2lt rs
Hey Matt I went for a drive on mine 18 1LE and noticed my rocker panel was separating from the quarter panel, u can actually push it in and is loose, u think the yellow clip behind is broken, I don't get it my car only has 12k miles. The loose panel is by rear tire
I would assume so
very nice I love it, good video.
is there a benefit of using rivets over screws? Do you think the screws could fall out? I just used screws on my RPI Side Skirts
Screws can vibrate out is the main concern. They also will not hold as tightly as a rivet.
ill replace them with rivets then. thanks
Rivets also generally allow for a little (more) air/water to get by for drainage.
😎🇺🇸👍 Hey Buddy! Looks great nice job. Keep up the great install videos Peace ✌🏻
Looks good. Are you selling the OEM skirts?
Not currently
Rap the roof black next
Can the rivets be drilled and installed just a little lower so as to make it easier to get the rivet gun flush with the side?
I like to think they placed them for the best figment.
Ohhh I didn't realize the holes in the side rocker were pre-drilled. Good to know. Thanks!
Side pipes!!!
I love it very good my bro
Do you need to use double sided tape?
No
How do they compare to the C7 carbon zl1 side skirts?? I'm interested in either set
Both are pretty good quality
So does it blow fire? And what was that?
It can! What was what?
Where did you find the used rockers? I'm looking for a used nightfall grey driver side rocker with no luck.
IG
Will those new side skirts work with a non 1LE rocker? I’ve got a 2ss and have been thinking about these.
They have the same rockers. Only the ZL1 is different
What size rivets are you using?
Matt if a clip were to break off "inside" the car. Is there a way to retrieve the pieces or it all sealed? Wondering if it may rattle.
The grey ones yes, white ones no. I have 5 broken ones in my car now
How do you gain access to where the grey ones would break? Those black rubber grommets under them?
From the underside of the car. You have to take the side skirt off
How tight against the body did yours end up? Both my splitter and side skirts have a small gap. No matter what I did, I could not get them lined up without one even before I started riveting.
Gap on the ends or against the car?
@@Lethalgarage against the body of the car, the splitter is fine except at the nose.
Looked like orange peel in the paint. At least buffing seemed to help, but you shouldn't of had to do that straight from the factory... They look good on the car though!
Shit happens ;)
Wats the cost
Oh.. But this video is very usefull. Thanks a lot.
Do you have the part number of gm side skirt like you have before the acs?
They haven’t made them since 2018
Do you know where I can buy new clips ???
Your dealers parts department
@@Lethalgarage thank you !!! Do you by any chance know how much those cost 😁
Eh! Canada
First
Your trying to recreate from your ss camaro to a zl1 congratulations
Buy a real ZL1 and be done with it!!
Why would I want a slower car
This guy talks entirely too much s***....
Don't talk about it ..be about it.... Go ahead and install the product.... What is this a talk show ? ????? OR A instruction video????
