Thanks for the video. Perfect step by step guide. IRT the CAI, on my 2017 SS, the canister is having a difficult time staying in the grommets. I recommend reassembling from the right to left (meaning put the filter on first). Oh and be careful removing the sound tube fastener. Easy to snap off. Very easy install.
I just installed this kit on my '20 LT1 and it definitely made a noticeable difference with better throttle response and enhanced engine tone. It did need the performance tune done at the dealership as my Camaro ran less responsive after the installation. My advice is get the tune done for the most power gain.
I installed the Cold Air Inductions model - GM Performance one not available anymore - on 5/25/23. Found out that 2020 and newer 2SS models to not have the sound tube anymore. The kit does not come with the AC tube wrap anymore and only one of the “green” sound washers, not two anymore. They also say not to unplug the Sensor, to remove whole and install back in whole, unplugged will throw a check engine light.
I know you posted this awhile ago, but I wanted to say thank you for the guide. My brother and I installed this last night and your video came in clutch. Also mine came with a 50 state emissions friendly sticker so I'm good here in SoCal. Thanks again!
akidim13 Hey man, Naw, I didn't take it to a dealer. After reading up seeing that it didn't make a difference really, I decided not to. I notice more of a pull at 2k rpm and others have told me it sounds slightly more aggressive. Although, it's been a little while since I've driven it, so this is all based off of memory. I don't have any dyno results or anything like that so share, sorry. Best of luck with whatever you choose to go with.
I drive a camaro that I bought used and it had your logo and the “lethal camaro” logo in white lettering on the rear smaller windows. It’s a camaro lt fith generation 😊 just thought it was cool that I’m installing this same intake on my camaro and it happened to show your video in the google results now I watch your channel all the time 🤙🏼
Placed my order from the Gm parts guy after seeing your install video. I received it midweek and installed it today. It was pretty easy with the help of your install video. Thanks Matt !!!!!
Got the part from GM. Put it in and when I went to go to the dealer to get a flash, they said they couldn't do the flash because of the serial number of the part being wrong, even though the part was supplied to the dealer.
LethalGarage Yeah but then your left with an extra filter and your costs just for a CAI intake is going up to like $600. I live in one of the banned states much like you. Have you had to get an emissions test yet on your car? That would be an interesting video. Your car seems like it would be banned in CA.... LOL
LethalGarage I'd prefer to buy the CAI version and see if you can buy the lid that says GM performance. That might be tricky getting them to piece that part out though
Thanks for this video. I called the dealer and they were cool with me doing the install myself, I’ll go in for a tune in a couple days. I sort of had to walk them through the process others may find that their dealer is a little in the dark on this product. A couple points about install, first the instructions state not to unplug the maf sensor, instead they say to unscrew it from the housing and set it aside. Of course I read this after I already unplugged it. And the second point is that lining up the 2 holes is a little weird because they line up at and angle. I stuck a small drill bit in the filter box hole and used a rule to line up the hole on the maf housing. I was nervous about eyeballing it and it’s a little difficult to see if you’re on the right mark
just got mine... easy install.. I found the spring loaded screws annoying as hell... couldn't get the screws to stay closed.. finally by the grace of god after messing with them for 30 min I finally got them to stay on. LOL. do the other brands have these spring loaded screws? to be honest, these screws seem like they aint going to last very long.. BTY... great vids man. like the way you go into detail. 🖒🖒🖒
Was reading in some forums that it's better to take it to the dealer and get them to install it because if something goes wrong they might just blame it on you.
so when you have cold air intake, does engine can pull the water inside and clog the engine? long time ago i use to own ford focus and some pre owner instal cold air intake and when i was driving on rainy day and after passing the pool the water get in my engine and it killed my car.... now i own camaro v6 2018 so i was wondering if just depends of what kind of cold air intake?
Great video, Matt! Looking forward to the completion of the 2nd gen. Camaro, too. Question for you regarding this CAI: Will this work on the 2020 SS 1LE that I bought in April? Looking up for my '20 brings me to everything from '16-'19. Thanks for any information you might have for me. Great channel!
LethalGarage Thank you for your reply. I’ll check in with my Chevy Service Manage, too, before I buy this one that you installed. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Matt, any ill effects on the car since you installed it? On a previous video you mentioned that the V6 model should have the tune installed; wondering if the tune is really needed on the V8? Ready to place the order for my SS, told my wife its a birthday gift for me : >
Anyone by any chance got the part number or know how to get the Return PCV box on the stock intake. I never got the stock intake on my car as I bought it used and it had a CAI already. Can’t seem to find this little piece anywhere
Hey like your videos that you post especially this video been trying to find a cold air intake for my 2017 camaro ss but all are not California legal.. i checked out the web sight provided for the chevy performance part but it says in the website the same as all the other ones "not intended to use or sell in California" is there any cold air intakes that can be bought here and use in California??
I just asked the same thing. Since it's dry I'm assuming you just bang that bad boy out and wipe it with a damp cloth but what do I know. I see you asked a year ago so if you know let me know so I know. ✌
IS there a listing for the 37 approved states? Is the tune for emissions only and if the tune is not installed will it fail emissions test? I dont know how much I trust a GM dealer to install this tune. Worries me a bit.
Will the throttle body still make the whistle noise if you have the vmax ported throttle body? the one you had an install vid for a while ago. Or do you still need the gaskets for that as well?
Awesome video can’t wait to install one on my 2018 2SS just a note went to the merchandise store sad to see that ur T-shirts are sold out wanted to sport one while I drove my Camaro keep up the great videos
Thanks Matt for your install videos and honest views on these products. Today I received and installed my GM performance cold air inductions intake which was purchased from thatgmpartsguy.com, I used your video and not the provided instructions for the install. LOL. Love the sound and can't wait to take it back to the track to see the gains. My best stock run out of 4 runs was 12.645 @ 113.15. I'm hoping I can get in the low 12's, i guess i will see the results next weekend. Thanks again. -Sam
because it is pointless. The idea is that it ports additional intake sounds into your car to make you feel like you can hear your engine. with today's cars the padding and materials mute the sounds a lot. So this is a way to get some of the sound back.
How does the tune make the intake comply with emissions? Does it inject less fuel or time the amount of air being sucked in, or does it make the spark plugs fire earlier with the intake?
@@Lethalgarage so it's worthless to option for this intake if yoy were to build it? Yes, I did. I installed it after ur video, so no mistakes, lol. It does not.
How does the tune make the intake comply with emissions? Does it inject less fuel or time the amount of air being sucked in, or does it make the spark plugs fire earlier with the intake?
The tune really only adjusts the MAF from what I am told. This product causes the car to loose power with the tune they provide.

Backside catch can?
explain the sound tube
It ports real intake sounds into the cab of your car. Most people never notice it.
yeah wondering what is the point of the sound tube? Why remove it vs not remove it?
How does an intake effect emissions?
the car pulls in more air causing a bigger combustion, causing more exhaust.
Is that an oiled or dry filter?
+Tom Grover its oiled
