I really appreciate you taking time to walk us through it and love the can idea to support the tank. Honda's instructions for installed included removing the tank which is really unnecessary and time consuming. As I was going with my installation here are a few things I struggled with if helpful: -Apply lithium grease to the Pivot bolt (per Honda) -The quickshifter assembled need to be adjust to be within "229.3 to 230.3mm" per Honda instructions before tightening the upper and lower nuts. -The dummy connector for the SCS has a little lever that you need to pull lightly and it will come off. -Initialization: QS ON, Mode, IN YES, MODE, ENG START will appear, Gear in Neutral, Start the engine, OK F IN will appear if successful
Thanks for the feedback! I've found all of Honda's instructions for this bike to be confusing at best and I'm glad you've found the video helpful. I pinned your comment since it provides some added instructions that should be seen by more people performing this installation. I personally didn't do the lithium grease or the measurements but will go back and perform those checks. Thank you 🤙🤙
and...? Something useful about the measurements? My QS works, but doesn't work perfectly, sometimes it won't shift, sometimes (rarely) i get a kind of neutral-position and machine revs up. In my opinion the shifting time is set up little to long, if it was shorter, the torque reaction would be not that strong. I don't know where to set this up (software).
@@mathiase.7096 do you have any updates about that? I'm also facing times getting that weird "- -" sign on my gear indicator... Honda guys are saying: "everything's ok" but no, it is not.
@@triggeredbuzz I didn't have any problems anymore - maybe since i learned to go a little bit less throttle in the moment of up-shifting (only at high refs). The blipper works perfect. Maybe the mechanics had to "ride-in" a little bit. These days i really love it, especially when i'm going in "fast cruising or cruising mode".
This is 4 years after this video was posted... but it was brilliant 👏 Awesome 👌 thank you for taking the effort to show this installation process for the quickshifter! I followed your tutorial and fitted my quickshifter, rode my Cb1000r and... wow, just wow!!! Transformed the bike! Thanks Bro! 😉🙌 Stewart
I ordered a oem quick shifter for my 2017 Honda CBR 1000 RR. Thanks to you I ordered the SCS SRVCE CONNECT0R 070PZ-ZY30100. I did not know I needed it. Thanks
Just fitted a new qs to my 2018 cb1000r 75000km. Installed easily and working fine. Only difference is that when I switched on the ignition the gear position indicator on the display swept from 6th to Neutral and stayed at N. Maybe your bike happened to be in 1st gear when you switched ignition On. Great video. Thanks a lot.
Hi. Can you tell me if your quickshifter works for downshifting too?, I want to buy the original QS for my 2021 CB1000R but I hear that it only works for upshifting. Thank you
Your the shit!! Thankyou for the video, a shop wanted to charge $400+ for the install. Just ordered the part, I’ll install now. Thankyou!! Hope your doing well and having fun rippin on the CB
I have the same bike as you , and I don’t have a quick shifter on it yet but I have accidentally up and down shifted without using the clutch so I got curious and it lets me power shift above 5-6k rpm only
So... I got it installed. However, when I try to enable it. It never shows up on any menu. I put the plug on, turn the key and hold the menu button. It never gives an option to turn QS on. Any ideas.
Two things come to mind...1. Is the ignition button (red button next to throttle) in the run position? 2. Are you holding down the up or down (I used down) select button simultaneously with the menu button?
@@BrosefRides I’m actually just a dumbass. There’s a red plug and a greenish one. I pulled out a different plug to plug the service connector into. Last night I found the red plug and got it enabled. Whew.
@@BrosefRides it’s pretty sick. I’ve only used it for about 5 minutes so far. For the tank, I’m glad you pointed out that it scratched yours. Sorry it happened to you, but I learned from it and just straddled the front tire and held the bike up straight when I lifted it. Then I shoved a towel under it to get to the switch.
I've had my eye on the FTR since purchasing the CB but I'm not a huge fan in V-twin motors and the single sided swing arm on the CB is sexy. Plus Honda reliability is hard to argue against. I wasn't able to test drive a FTR though and that might have changed my mind.
I too was between the CB1000R and FTR1200 but I ultimately chose the Honda. The FTR looks great but the only way I would buy it is if the S&S Grand exhaust did not take up the space to mount the number plates and pillion pegs. Either way, I'm more than happy with my Honda purchase but I think an FTR is a great bike to have in the future maybe.
@@LaneMcCall I test rode both. For me it was the FTR hands down. Strange as we have rear (pillion seat) licence plate brackets here from factory. also, interesting exhaust choice.
@@AridersLifeYT Yeah I'm aware of the pillion seat and brackets. But that in conjunction with the S&S exhaust is incompatible. Either way, I still like the FTR and would like to have one in the future. Happy riding!
Just fitter the HM quickshifter with auto blipper - used your video from beginning to end as a guide. Made it super easy, so thanks for sharing. How fun is a QS?!!!
I saw your post on the FB group before I saw this, that HM QS is sharp looking 🤙 glad you found the video useful. IMO the QS is a game changer, I'll never go back.
Great vid! Quick question, does this factory quick shifter allow you to downshift as well without the clutch? (autoblip) . I figured quick shifters only allow you to shift up. Thanks!
You are correct, it is the one that is installed on the Plus version. I got mine from Partszilla.com, it took about two weeks to receive it. I want make my bike a full Plus version while the parts are available.
@@BrosefRides thanks. I looked up the part numbers and you are correct. I don't think the service clip is entirely necessary. Looks like you just need to jump 2 wires on the harness
No, you actually don't want to release the throttle while downshifting. What you want to do it hold it steady in the same position while downshifting. You get used to the feeling pretty quickly.
Well done! I like your fingertape, that is spongebob, isn't it ? :-) What kind of unit do you use to read out the motor-data?? Is it a laptop-adapter-cable?

Up and down! 2nd to 1st shifts are my favorite
@@BrosefRides thank you for the reply. This is the original honda's quickshifter yea? My dealer told me it was upshift only. Haha
If the bike is ride by wire the quick shifter will work up and down. If it’s cable, a quick shifter only works on the up.
@@danielblitz @zyonsdream is correct, up and down
This quick shifter entails an autoblipper for downshift as well? Sorry new to quickshifters as well.
This quickshifter is the OEM version, so the downshift rev matching or blipping is built into the software once enabled.
