    It is one thing to keep and handle bees. What JP is doing takes that to a whole new level. I am seriously amazed at how this man understands the nature of these little creatures and can anticipate how best to use their nature to gently coax them into a new environment created specifically for them. Amazing...

  • @bambamnj
    @bambamnj 5 лет назад +26

    I just love the fact that people like you have learned to understand bees and their behavior to the point that you can work with them (without any special suits) and rescue them and use them productively. In long times past people would just come in and destroy all these amazing creatures. What a waste. I'm sure it still happens, but it warms the heart to know your type of process takes place, and knowing that these bees will continue to thrive and be used in a productive way.

    That simple-yet-ingenious bee cage for the queen which fully allows the workers to care for their "society's" leader and to be preserved in a better location, which will include great pollenization of farmers' crops, what a wonderful way for the human race to care for Gd's Creation!

    Your remark about the nectar sparked some recollection from when I worked on traditional lands of Australian Aboriginal cultures in the outback, because sometimes they would bring me what are known as 'honey ants' as a treat.
    Honey ants are a specialized variation which act as living reservoirs for nectar collected by workers which hang from the roof of deep chambers within a nest and are generally about the size of a pea.
    The sweet nectar the ants contain is quite tasty but they are only dug up after infrequent rain which softens the ground because it is normally hard as cement.
    I equate the flavor of the ant nectar to the scent of the wildflowers it comes from and you can clearly taste all the distinctly different scents in the nectar which makes it a most unusual but delightful experience.

    Awesome! People in our neighborhood call us when they see a swarm. We have 3 beehives & last year we caught 6 swarms. We kept 2 and gave the others away to people who also raise bees. Funny thing is, I'm a beekeeper who's allergic to bees. 🤣

    Love watching him work, i think it's great to save the bees especially for farmers and others that need them. I wonder if there aren't farmers that would give you a spot to set a hive? Wouldn't it be beneficial to them for growing their produce, fruits, and flowers. Would that feed these bees? Would it make different flavors of honey? I don't know, but wouldn't it be great to drop them like you would police dogs in a warehouse. They do their thing then you check in on them and let them do there thing.
    Great job saving them.

    It takes a very special person to do what you are doing. I commend you, JP. You are an awesome man. Some people would probably have a controlled fire or something of that nature to get rid of them. Bees are probably the most important creature on the planet, so why kill them? I have a small beehive under my deck, and it seems there are more bees since I noticed them. I'll probably wait until the end of the summer before I call someone in to "claim" them. Keep up the wonderful work. Also, I am a big fan of The Walking Dead, is there any way you can give a quick hello to Nicole for me. That would be appreciated. I am a fan from Newfoundland, Canada. And now I am a big fan of JP. Thank you for saving the bees and our planet. All the best, Rod.

    • @JPthebeeman
      @JPthebeeman  5 лет назад

      Rod, contact a beekeeper about your bees but you’ll want to have them relocated in the spring so they can catch all the nectar flows your area has to offer.
      Removing them late summer would likely be too much for them to survive winter in your area.
      Peace to you & yours from the United States. ✌️🐝

    • @rodwhite9737
      @rodwhite9737 5 лет назад +1

      O.K.. thanks for that. So, what do I do in the meantime, let bees be bees and have them hibernate for the winter? There's nothing like you have to deal with(like thousands). There's maybe a few dozen or so. I'm just a concerned citizen, much like yourself. So, yeah, thanks for getting back to me so fast. I didn't expect it. Keep it up, and all the best, the White Family.

    JP, hey I have in the last 2 months gotten bees on the brain for some reason. They are calling to me. I watch bee videos constantly. You have responded to my daughter Ashley a couple of times and I would like to ditto what she said. Thank you for your work and your love for the girls.. I've watched several people but I love your videos the most. I call you the bee whisperer because I can feel thru a video the love that you have for the bees. The fact that you laugh when you get stung speaks volumes to me. You're not angry, you're just shaking your head and chuckling like you're dealing with a toddler throwing a tantrum. I wish more people understood that our lives depend on bees and stop the comments like "get the flame thrower!". They just don't get it. I was watching yesterday when you had some fun with Yappy and didn't tell him you had already caught the queen. 🤣 I was thinking what a blast it would be to hang out with you guys LOL! Everyday the first thing I think of when I wake up is bees. Did that happen to you years ago or how did you start your mission to save the bees? Our neighbor must have a hive in an old shed in her backyard because the bees are going nuts on the blooms that are getting ready to flower, there's soo much pollen. I want to go and get them an a hive but I have no equipment. Its ruling my life!!!!! I appreciate you so much and enjoy watching you. I hope that someday SOON I will be able to have a hive. We're in UT and its still pretty cold here so I only see them on good days. I love to sit on the porch and listen to them hum in the tree. It's like music to me. I'm not afraid of them. If it were you would you leave them alone? They are obviously doing fine as they wintered thru and are busy now on warm days. Or would you try to get them into a nuc and start caring for them? I want sooo much to work with them but I also want what's best for them. What's your opinion? I'd be so grateful if you would let me know what you think!!! Thanks JP, keep loving the girls! Susan

    • @JPthebeeman
      @JPthebeeman  5 лет назад +1

      I would leave that colony right where it is but would put out some “bait hives” in order to catch some of the swarms they may throw off.
      Do your research & secure your woodenware before you just jump right in though.
      You’ll be glad you did later, I promise you that!

    • @susangranger5382
      @susangranger5382 5 лет назад +1

      Thanks JP. I need to find some local bee keepers and see if I can get some equipment. Maybe if I can put a hive box on our side of the fence they may decide they want to move. 😊 I've watched nothing but bee videos in the last month and I've learned a lot, even spotted the queen in a picture someone posted. I know there's a TON more to learn but I'm gonna do it!

    Another good video. JP, can a beekeeper ever "over smoke" their bees causing them some harm, or, can bee's generally handle smoke pretty well with no ill effects? Please note, this question is not comment regarding this video, I'm just curious about bee's and their ability to deal with smoke.

    • @JPthebeeman
      @JPthebeeman  5 лет назад +1

      It depends on the environment they are in as in the void they’re occupying. If it’s pretty closed up without any air holes whatsoever you could over smoke them to the point they suffocate. It would have to be a significant amount of smoke though.
