- Rick Wakeman - Catherine Parr (2009) from "The Six Wives Of Henry VIII"
Rick Wakemans The Six Wives Of Henry VIII is one of the landmark albums of the seventies, a critical and commercial success that has sold in excess of 15 million copies worldwide. In May 2009, Rick Wakeman finally achieved his long held dream of performing the entire album live at Hampton Court Palace. It was the first time the whole album had ever been performed in concert & included the Henry VIII track Defender Of The Faith, that had to be cut from the original album for space reasons, plus new opening and closing pieces. The two spectacular sell out concerts were a never to be repeated event and this film shows why they will live long in the memory of all those fortunate enough to attend.

In my opinion in 100 years, he will still be remember as one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. His life work is simply amazing!
Very beautifull
This is by far one of my most favorite albums of all. I remember when I first got it at age 16 and still am in awe every time I give it a listen. I would have LOVED to have attended this concert! It sounds so majestic with the choir and orchestra!
I got that one, too. Simply amazing!
TIVE OPORTUNIDADE DE ASSISTIR SEU SHOW A MUITOS ANOS ATRÁS.
Simplesmente. MARAVILHOSO !!!
GENIOUS!!
I can't get my hands to stop drumming along to every beat of this.
Genious
Fantástico!! O rei dos teclados!!!!!
Maestro Wakeman in action! Bravo!
I love this man. I got to know him of him all too late. Even though his prime is over, he is still the best in my opinion. He is directly inspirational to watch, gives me a lot of lust to achieve great musical knowledge!
Thank you!
The best musician.
I usually don't even like the sound of this type of keyboards, and yet this is giving me shivers.
May you live so long!
A Great Moment in Popular Music! Everyone knew Rick Wakeman's music, no matter what our musical taste were. That's it.
I guess I just forget how old some people are. I just celebrated my 69th birthday today. It's wonderful to have gone through the music, events education. Had I not been that old, I'd have missed a lot of it, and I don't plan on missing a bit of it. My 40 year old son called today and was laughing because we had had a discussion of Rick Wakeman. Mom, he said, you are like having a sister. So you understand why I consider 49 years old young. And you must do so too.
siempre increible
Magnifico, come sempre!
Fantástico! É o melhor de todos.
He is the best!
awesome!!
@PGPNETO Ola. Com certeza.Tb assisti a um show dele no Brasil anos 80 no Ibirapuera mto bom.
Genius, and then some!
I miss the guitar solo from the live in Buenos Aires (DVD)... That one was incredible
I can't argue with that. I don't see music really going anywhere in the next few decades as it is. Sad but true.
Rick's health, unfortunately, is not what it used to be. After a 2-week "tour" in the US (I believe he was in New York), his doctor told him "No more touring". Period, I'm sad to say. It is a reminder to me that we're not the spring chickerns we used to be. Peace:-)
That's Ray Cooper, one of the top percussionists in the world.
If Ray Cooper hasn't guested with your band, well, you're not famous.
He's played with Rick, with Genesis, with Santana.
not sure of the guy on percusion but im sure he on pink floyd tours. magic stuff.. i have seen rick and adam many times and have met rick. a pure genius for sure..
2.00 amazing!!
All bow before Rick's robes!!! LOL... Six Wives of Henry VIII will always be my favorite Rick album -- fantastic to see him live!!! Thank you for uploading!!
for me the best rick's piece
Nice to see Tony Fernadez again, miss his drum solos...Roll on the 6 wives/Journey weekend later this year (2013).
Well, i hope so. I'm 49 years old but i hope to live another 10 or 15 years. Thank you for your kind wish :)
His doctor told him to retire in 1974. Of course he is much older now, but there may still be hope.
I am not the historician, performance is just excelllent, everything is good within this spectacle ...
Great great great greatest! God saves Wakeman forever!
@CrispyCC That bald guy is Ray Cooper, he has played with The Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Elton John and Mark Knopfler, just to name a few.
Where have all his foot-pedals gone ? There used to be a million !
@PickledYoshi The sounds from the Roland TD20 drumkit suffer from the same.
The 6 wives of henry Viii, my friend, is way better than any Yes album you can think of. And that is from someone who's a Yes fan.
@@charlylennon1984 That was my opinion 12 years ago. And still is. But I love Yes albums
Ray Cooper, a legend!
He's an incredible keyboard player. Best there is, ever was or will be in progressive rock history. Emerson is fantastic as well but Rick's melodies are sweeter to the ear I think.
Minőségi zene, nagy mágus!!!
is it just me, or does the guy on the acoustic guitar look like Brian May and the guy hand playing the djemba drums look like Phil Collins. now what a band that would have been
Great key board player pity they are not doing the full journey or king arther this year still looking forward to the weekend
nice coat
When first recorded Rick might have used a Moog, but for many years now Rick has used Korg and Rolland polyphonic synths. Incidentally the other keyboard player is often Adam his son.
i was in two of his concerts in Buenos Aires, around '92. in such a moment he introduced his son who started playing one of that cheesy "guitar-keyboard" , soloing exactly as his father does.
Being this spectacle not pathetic enough, wakeman took another "guitar-key" and started a "virtuous-father-son-duet". The ticket price was pretty expensive, but for more than one hour of laughing it deserved the money.
I think this is the most difficult song on the album
@feckingtwot He's playing the album "The Six Wives Of Henry VIII", that's why he's dressing like that, if that's what you're complaining about... Part of the show, nothing more than that.
those robes are so sick.
@CrispyCC Looks like Ray Cooper, one of the greatest percussionists in rock. Had play with most everybody, from Elton to Rick
thank god! the Minimoog i hate the new digital synths :D
Those laundry clips are high tech.
@Replica1989
That's what Rudess does. Wakeman is probably too proud to ask Rudess for one Mighty Multidevice Patch-switching Pedal of his. :D
soundcheck of doom
Great performance, no? :-)
With Ray Cooper and the good old Tony Fernandes. :-)
They are like wine, the older, the better!
Játszik a mester
he usually RUSHES this piece live but with the orch and the CONDUCTOR giving him the tempo this is the first time Ive seen him play this at the correct tempo! Im sure he plays it fast on purpose so he can fly across the keys dfor the audience but when the orchestra is present you dont need to showboat like that hehehe
@CrispyCC
That's Ray Cooper, he's a living legend.
God.
Vakre Tårer goddess
@CrispyCC
Man, that's Ray Cooper (Elton John, Eric Clapton and more)
I was there:-D
On what kind of minimoog can you play two notes at a time? Probably custom modified model.
man that's tony fernandez on drums
Yep ... I was there in the audience that night!
@@GlimmerOfLight Amazing spetacle! Rick is a true epic of rock and prog.
Rick is getting old. He must be 62 or 63 years-old, i guess. But he is still the best keyboard player in the world.
He looks tired but sharp as usual.
@marczellm Kenton interface!
Actually that pedal costs like 30€... :D Rudess uses Boss FS-5U for patch changing...
@atlasvpmktg By God, it definitely is!
Also: Ray Cooper's birthday is one day before mine! :D
Looks like promo for Korg and Roland... but ehre's still a place for good ole Mini
The years have not been kind to Rick's face, that's for sure. Still plays well though.
@Replica1989 Sometimes you do.
He's not playing two notes, the other keyboard player (his son?) is playing the harmony line.
We have brought Anna von Kleve to life. In a 3D film and as an animated augmented reality model.ruclips.net/video/ZmCxOIgMqnw/видео.html . We could do the same for Catherine Parr.
this would do better as an audio clip. somehow the jowls and the haircut do not go together. I have fond memories of hearing RW & band in West Hartford in '85
@Bedulonko
Go take a look at @feckingtwot's Favorites, you'll understand more about his special level of expertise. I think I even found a Shakira video if I'm not wrong. Stop wasting your time with him/her (not sure if it's an old man or an old woman's nick)
prog rules again !!
rick wakeman songs are based on a few basic chords, then a lot of fast played scales are improvised over them. Quite efficient if you want to catch people attention. If you are interested in this kind of style, don't keep stacked with this "illusionist"... there's fantastic music around us. Keep also in mind the creative job; he's doing the same stuff since the middle 70's. He just changed some keyboards in order to keep "fresh".
Oh please please show us a photo of yourself. Take one now and then in ten years take another one, then you'll see.
Roland x 8. ^...^
@Replica1989 You are so jealous!!!! Any one wish to have all those keyboards!!!
lol what does that movie have to do with anything?
Those are some really bad sounding synthesiser presets. Detracts from the whole thing massively.
@feckingtwot
1) This doesn't make me "happy".
2) Did you just compare Rick Wakeman's perfomance with Stalin?!
3) "Rick Wakeman's music is genocidal to good music"... What?! How?!
4) "insipid shit that mass culture has raised to god-like status"... You could say that about punk rock, pop, rap, hip-hop, etc, etc. But Progressive Rock? I don't think so.
he's a parody of himself.... and an eternal Bach copycat. In such a way I still like him, he makes me laugh.
Die
Be this guy
Go to heaven
and play piano
2 minimoogs? That's just plain greedy.
