But then there’s the atmosphere problem. It’s incredibly thick, which also leads to the surface temperatures being blisteringly hot. So it’s a matter of solving the atmosphere problem on Venus versus solving the gravity problem on mars.

The VERY HIGH atmospheric pressure and the extreme heat makes it impossible to date to even build a robotic rover to operate on the surface of Venus. Populated cities floating high in the clouds is the best viable option. PERIOD.
Our first colony on/above another planet will be decided by Elon - NOT NASA. SpaceX is 10+ years ahead of NASA in manned space flight capability. I vote for the Moon and then Mars. Venus is #3.

Even I still don’t see the importance of Venus. As I recall, Venus is has a burning hot surface, some parts are volcanic last I checked. Most-carbon dioxide atmosphere with sulfuric clouds that rain acid. And has a high atmospheric pressure that can crush anything Earth-base. Yeah, not a hospitable place you want to be.

I’m skeptical about this part. Not only sound dangerous, other than gas-filled airships, we still have yet to build a vehicle or structures that can still in the air for a long time without having to land to refuel/recharge regularly.

The Earth is cooler with the atmos/GHGs/albedo not warmer.
To perform as advertised the GHGs require “extra” energy upwelling from the surface radiating as a black body.
The kinetic heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmos molecules render that scenario impossible.
No greenhouse effect, no GHG warming, no man/CO2 driven climate change or Gorebal warming.
