Kind of makes me feel bad about all the snipers I've killed in Half-Life 2. But then again, the Combine basically scrambled the brains of who were once the people that are now soldiers anyway. A lot of them chose their side long ago. What little humanity they have left makes them a shell of a person. Basic emotions and thought, sure, but that's it.
Freeman isn’t the good guy. Most civil protection joined for perks, and to keep their family fed. But gordon mercilessly slaughters each one. Alyx is human enough to knock them out rather than kill them, as we never hear flatlines.
