Nah this questline is very much like a souls games. Its a common trick to have questlines end in tragedy. However, given how this one had such disciplined and clear theming. I feel Georgie has actually assisted in lvling the team's writing technique. Since before it was rather obtuse and jank and often uses tragedy for its own sake than putting real meaning into it. Like look! The character in this story actually has a character arc! Its so nice that the fromsoft team are now able to fking write at a very basic level now. Its great!
To be honest I hate this questline so much, cause it went so deep and it drives me insane. I would warn anyone that playing it right now to ignore this questline altogether until New Game+ cause it will makes you hate on so many NPCs in the game.

It took me 120 hours to explore every piece of elden ring on my first play through but it's ok Bcz I got ranni's ending without looking anything up (didn't ride the horse except a few areas I needed to jump)
When I did this quest, I thought I'll end up finding her father is dead by the time I get to Castle Morne. So when I got there I was surprised to see him still alive. Then I returned to Irina and my words were "I knew this wasn't going to end on a happy note, classic fromsoft".
Spoiler ahead: It doesn't end there. Since you kill Misbegotten, and he couldn't take his revenge, then he goes crazy and tries to kill you instead. I f-ing love this game.
and the thing he drops further strengthen the link between Irina and Hyetta, which makes his questline even more sad (if you believe in the link between Irina and Hyetta...)

For those who think the surprise invasion is the end of it, a character named "Hyetta" makes sure that's not the case in the most fucked up way all the way through. Sad grapes all around.
I thought she was tricked by her sister to go into the sewers and got eaten by the pig? When you give the ribbon back to her sister, you find out that she wanted that ribbon for herself.
It could really be worse. She could have been turned into a creature and then you unknowingly kill her get her soul and then you talk and then report that you have begrudgingly slain her due to her monsterized nature. That's a whole heck lot of weight to bear upon your shoulders.
Poor Ina. When I saw her name was Irina and that she was a blind runaway, I immediately thought of the Heroic Legends of Arslan who has a similar character. Makes me wonder if there is a legend both stories are taking inspiration from?

In the Souls series, the fate of only a few touched me: Patches, two onions, the giant blacksmith, the beautiful lady, Bok, Hugh, Millicent. I think also is the merchant bandit from Sekiro
It gets worse. Later you can meet a girl named Hyetta who looks VERY familiar. Who says exactly the same line about her eyesight, her fate is truly horrible.

The ghost jellyfish scene was pretty wholesome. Sure, they're both dead to start with, but it was still cute.

It gets worse. Later you can meet a girl named Hyetta who looks VERY familiar. Who says exactly the same line about her eyesight, her fate is truly horrible.

When I saw Selen, I actually wished I had sided with Jerren. It seems Rennala is not fking around giving her a fate worse than death.
Fromsoft being sure to give players Trauma. So everyone is ready to face hard times in real life.

Literally when I first did this I was stunned into silence for a few minutes. I kinda just stood there, looking at her body, unable to even articulate my thoughts.
