Gabriel nascimento there’s a few clips of John talking from 1990 where you can hear the makings of what his voice would become, but his current voice has definitely been influenced by hanging around Flea so much and the fact that he’s gotten a bit older since the last time he was consistently interviewed.
I feel like his voice has improved quite a lot, in the times after he joined RHCP again (the first time) his speech was pretty broken up, slurred and stuttered, guessing probably the drugs he was only recently clear of. But yeah sounds exactly like Flea now, there was a recent podcast they both did about music influences when they were younger and it was almost impossible to know who was talking!

He can make music with the band and then he can just seclude in his home studio and write whatever he likes. Win win.
