I was just in the Philippines a few days ago and heard from the locals that the jeepneys might be phased out soon, which I think is bittersweet. Make sure to try the local foods in Salcedo Market if you're still in Makati this weekend. :)
Thank you, kabayan, for correctly promoting BGC. Indeed, BGC is in TAGUIG. So many irresponsible vloggers here keep calling everything manila just because they're walking on concrete. Cringe.
That Chapel in Greenbelt Park has been there since there was only one Greenbelt Mall (GB1 now) and the rest were small independent strip malls surrounding one big parking lot which is now the “courtyard” you walk on.
This is the time of the year when many Expats and local Filipinos who stay in Manila, go to cooler mountain towns like Tagaytay, about 2 hours from Manila or Baguio which, depending on the speed, takes anywhere from 4 - 6 hours. I would suggest that you stay in a hostel or an Air BNB for a few days, to really get to explore and enjoy your destination. That is, unless you don’t mind traveling much further to beaches or other islands.
Theres a museum there called Ayala museum and you'll see the Philippines archeological gold. The Filipino ancestors wore so much gold the Philippines was known before the colonial periods as the isles of gold and it has the most number of archeological gold if not in asia atleast in south east Asia
People don't go out from 10 AM to 4 PM. It's hot in PH. Try to be in those places like the one you visited and BGC from 5 PM onward to the evening. You'll see many friendly people.
metal utensils in Jollibee are not served at the counter you must take them in in their gondola or kiosk. But you may ask for disposable ones at the counter. You may also try grilled roasted chicken like Mang Inasal.
Stop using plastic. Haven't you heard enough about climate change and the insurmountable garbage problem?. Can't you do even just a bit of sacrifice to help?
Looks like you found a decent area to film at Solomon. Only thing I recommend to eat at Jollibee are the fried chicken dipped in gravy and some steamed rice. The spaghetti like you said , is just way too sweet and served with hot dogs. Honestly I've been there many times to visit in laws and never liked any of their food as compared to other countries lol..too much poverty but the people are very nice.
Wow you have some family here! chicken and gravy sounds delicious!😁 Yes, I totally agree that the people are one of the friendliest but unfortunately there is some poverty here.
My observations: 1) the PH is a “newly” a developing country. Started to improved around 7/8 yrs ago after almost 70 yrs of corruptions. The country itself is a rich in natural resources but politics destroyed. Middle income was removed. At these stage the government focused on the infrastructures all on major cities in the PH, highways and roads, social welfares, education etc, over populated that ends up a social problem. Small businesses needed to be transported from the towns, provinces to the cities etc. You knew it well. Once these are done then lots of poor people can benefit with more jobs offers. Other islands like Cebu already had a blueprint for slums to be relocated to housing projects. Remember it’s in the early stage as a developing country. 2) foods : the first taste is not as tasty as other Asian countries but it’s an acquired taste. Once you love it, it will keep with you and always long for it. No matter where you go. If you like to appreciate Filipino food first go to an authentic ones, not the instants sidewalk eatery. If possible check from a real noted good restos but bit expensive. Take note: different islands have different specialties. I’m a Filipina and I can see the difference. Mostly Luzons love sweets, so most of the foods have that some sweetness. Visayas and Mindanao are more on salty types. Thank you.
