    Whoa, that's a lot of tomatoes it produces. I planted some Aerogarden brand tomato seeds and some seeds taken from small peppers a few days ago so I'm looking forward to seeing how it does.

    Red Robin has been a staple variety for window gardens, but hearing you say that AeroGarden heirloom red tomatoes are faster to produce got my attention. I have the gold heirloom tomatoes from AeroGarden and can't wait to try those.

      Aerogarden messed up the seeds for golden heirloom last year. But I heard that they fixed it in the last few months. Hope you got the correct seeds.

    Now that seed companies are selling seedlings, would you ever start with a seedling instead of a seed? otherwise best aerogarden video ever, everything is done well, the lighting, the narration, the choice of varieties, you've checked all the boxes, can't wait for next video!

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  3 года назад +2

      Thank you for your kind words. I prefer not to go that route of buying seedlings for 2 reasons. 1) Starting with seeds and getting seedlings is lot easier. In fact, it is easier than growing the actual plants. 2) Companies grow seedlings in their own controlled environment. Those seedlings will take lot of time to stabilize in a different environment and some of them may not even survive.
      So, I prefer to make my own seedlings right in my growing area so that there will be less shock when transplanted into Aerogardens.

      Update, I'm not sure that the bloom nutrients affected the flavor much on aerogarden heirloom tomatoes. The plants seemed to love it after adjusting and making sure to maintain ph, and produced a lot of flowers. The flavor was ok, far from the sunset brands flavor bombs. Maybe another variety will taste better

    Can you do a video where you do a mixed garden to see if it could be successful? I have a bounty basic that I want to get my son into gardening. I would like to hopefully try fairytale eggplants, a micro tomato (not sure of type to try), and a sweet pepper, and possibly any other vegetables that I could squeeze in between the other plants. That way he can hopefully have a fun productive garden of his own. If no video, any suggestions on what I can mix in that may work?

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  3 года назад +2

      Peppers and tomatoes work fine together. We should stick to 1 plant every 3 holes. Eggplants will be a little tricky if we mix with other plants. I will experiment with this and let you know.

      @@aerogardenexperiments Thankyou, I also have the Idoo 20 pod garden I just received that may be a better choice, but I still need to buy an air pump since it doesn't have any pumps in the containers. I guess it is kind of a kratky/pod setup. Have you tried one of the 20 pod setups?

    • @StealthFisha
      @StealthFisha 3 года назад +2

      @@roddyrodrodrod No pump at all. It is just a stand with light and four separate containers with 5 pods each that sit on the stand. No air or water pumps, which kind of was a surprise when I got it, I should have read what it had but I kind of just assumed it would have pumps of some kind. It still seems like a nice unit and people seem to have good results when using them as is or with an additional air pump split into each container. It also has no fan on it, the 12 seems better on everything except space and light height.

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  3 года назад +2

      Yeah, 20 pod iDoo is a basic kratky put together with lights. That's the reason I didn't buy it. It's not a big deal to add an air stone. I see some air pumps on Amazon that support 4 air stones. I just don't want to go that route.

    I started AeroGarden heirloom cherry tomatoes in my AeroGarden Bounty 66 days ago. So far it is a failure: I planted 4 plants ( I guess that’s too many, 2 would be enough). They have all grow to about 1 foot tall and had flowers. However, not a single tomato so far, and many yellow leaves. One lesson learned: I should not have started them in winter. If I started them in the right season, I could have transplanted to outdoor garden. What would you suggest I should do now? 1) wait further to see how the 4 plants develop? 2). Give up and destroy them all, to free up the AeroGarden for something else? 3). Destroy only 2 of the plants, to see if the remaining 2 would do better?

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, 4 Aerogarden cherry tomato plants are too many but it shouldn't be like no tomatoes at all. You should get at least some tomatoes. I recommend #3. Remove 2 plants and see if the remaining 2 can do well. When you remove the plants, dump the water in the bowl and start with fresh water& nutrients. Then shake the plants a bit during the flowering stage. Maybe the flowers aren't getting pollinated. Most flowers will take care of themselves with pollination but shaking the plants a bit helps them in better pollination.
