BSOLZ he came to my school in Ware Massachusetts. And it was pretty crazy, bc were a small school and all. But yea it's a sad story and I appreciate you making this video and I'm sure he would as well.
It really sucks though when you dedicate as much time and effort as possible just for that person to go fuck it all for simply... having the opportunity.
Quattles26 That's extremely wrong. It matters where you go because some colleges have way better coaching then others. The coaching you get can make a great player into a star. Champions aren't born, they're made.
Chris has turned his life around and is one of the best motivational speaker on the topic of drug addiction out there and I believe his life is Success now
It's actually pretty easy if you develop self control, thought control, create goals, then use this obsessive compulsive nature for a different "drug". If you successfully do these things ... You forget about all the bullshittt you were into few years before. It's your friends and family that will remind you about the negative things and trigger old times because they're basic and petty with no real focus, self-controlled, and gifted with the power of an addict. Only the most successful people to ever walk this Earth had these same problems and learned how to focus this energy towards important goals and not substances or "liabilities". Everyone is addicted to something... It's just they're too scared to try something that is taboo or shunned by society. That very fear is the reason they will be a nobody. Find this knowledge of self and use it.
Chris Herren's story is not tragic. It's tragic if all that mattered was being a successful basketball player. Chris Herren's story is one of salvation and redemption. He has done so much good for so many people. He is hero to so many
Make one on Chris Mccullough, Very good player at syracuse but blew out his acl, fell down to 29th in the 2015 draft and busted. Pretty tragic and not even his fault. Anyways great video
He should have stayed in college another year, he rushed to get drafted even though people where recommending him to stay because he had not even been able to prove himself yet
He came to my school and told us his story, I'm very applied to basketball and this really hits me, Ive been tempted to do drugs, drink alcohol, etc. And I've never given in, and this gives me more inspiration to stay clean of that
It's never the drugs that actually messes up a person's body (that's a silly myth) but the lifestyle it creates. If you sleep, eat, and keep to your same daily practices like hygiene and work out... You just do your thing while super friggin happy and euphoric your body will not take the abuse as most "junkies".
Auston Smith well put. i was using heroin. im clean now but when i was using, i was eating well and working out. i looked healthy, and was ox cock strong. not all addicts are bone thin and sickly.
Thanks for sharing this a lot of people don't understand that addiction isn't really a choice, but that you can get help and ultimately seeking it is up to that person
Chief Lance Waiters I was an addict for 15 years I'm only 30.. started with weed, cocaine, and pills.. eventually got hooked on heroin for eight years.. it ruined my life and I lost everything and I was sleeping in the woods.. I been clean for six months and still nobody in my family talks to me except my mom.. my two best friends overdosed and died, my girlfriends sister overdosed and died.. my little cousin was shot and killed.. I've had guns pulled on me, I've slept in the woods by projects, I've been jumped and left laying unconscious in the street in the projects.. I've robbed people. been in shootouts.. been locked up.. basically my life was a big long terrible lonely nightmare because of my drug addiction and bad choices... PLZ PLZ PLZ do not use drugs.. there is no high that is worth going thru the hell that addiction causes.. plz make the right choice and succeed in your life.. I've wasted a lot of my youth and my young adult life and I'd give anything to go back and do it all over again. you only live once, do the right thing.
I live in mass and when I was in high school couple years ago he came and gave an inspirational speech/ anti drug speech to our small high school. My basketball team has pictures with him.
Hey BSOLZ, Thanks for this video. I've been in recovery for a bit over 20 years: 3/18/1995.. I related to his story. I had a good future but it came to dust as I moved from weekend drinking alcohol into coke and heroin at the age of 16. I think sometimes we have things happen that can make bad choices seem not that bad at times. I'm not doing the blame game as I knew what I was doing was WRONG. The things we do to get our "shit" is not fun, it's crazy as you said. My family suffered way more than I ever did and I can never make up for that. I'm grateful that I have good relationships with my brother and daughters. They could have rightly gave up on me for good. I can't sit in their shoes; today they know how much they mean to me. You did an awesome job summarizing his life, both achievements and personal and tragic demons. I work in the substance abuse field today. I so appreciate your VOICE to the youth doing some PREVENTION before they end up in treatment. As I write this you got 204,770 views, you are watched. Take care and thank you for "us" we are human and love and are loved. Great Video BSOLZ! Keep em coming. SBZ2N
You would think going to Fresno California would have taken away the bad element in his life. But no, his boys moved to Fresno. Now that's what you call a Squad.
Fresno is a whole bad element unto itself. Just look at Terry Pettis or Avondre Jones. The school had to make a recruitment code to forbid Tark from recruiting convicted felons and he still somehow got Dennis Nathan on the team. Even if his boys hadn’t come he still would’ve gotten hooked up.
Alot of drugs at prices much lower then other places in the California central valley no doubt Chris would have found them without the help of his enteroge from Fall river.
good job on the vid i think u just said everything from the movie in the same order but dif wording. again, good job making an hour long movie into a 7 minute breakdown :)
Get your facts straight. Even the doctors told that he have no drug usage have shown in the autopsy. It was the fucking media who twisted it and got sued by Reggie's family.
BSOLZ this guy comes to my school every year, he teaches us about drugs every year and how to avoid them. thanks for making a video on this, More people need to learn about this story, other than kids from MA like me
I'm sorry but I don't really see this as tragic.. he chose to do stupid things still got into the NBA and other basketball leagues after staying stupid after multiple rehabs. like you said he made 22.000 a month playing basketball even though he was on drugs for most of his basketball career.... he fucked up himself in my opinion
NBA Content Look up the definition of a tragedy...Being conscious of his decisions doesn't make his story any less of a tragedy. You don't get to pick and choose what certain words mean to you.
NBA Content His story probably isn't as bad as half of the people having to grow up in inner cities and make it out through basketball. He had the way paved for him and fucked it up big time
NBA Content do u know how addicting cocaine is. No matter who u are u can get hooked. A lot of kids are kids and do stupid stuff they would regret in the future.
Chris is a amazing athlete and gifted speaker. This is a disease that is very complicated. Chris now has a wellness facility and I requested information and I got a call from Fall River, MA I didn’t pick the phone up...but then I got a text and it was from Chris Herren. I am calling him tomorrow. 🙏🏻
For an abuser of the worst drugs imaginable he sure looks clean cut and ok? I guess no matter how much you abuse it won't take a tole on you physically at all ( just the fact that he was still playing pro basketball that long) but more psychologically
Best of luck to Chris as he moves on with h8s life. Thanks to him for continuing to reach out to kids about drug abuse. And....thanks for posting this v8deo!
Chris Herren came to our school and talked to us about not doing drugs and all that. But he was the BEST SPEAKER EVER. He moved so many kids to tears. He's completely turned his life around since then and all is well!
coming from an addiction lifestyle I really feel bad for Chris and wish him and his family nothing but the best its really sad what this decease can do.god bless him and his family
Yeah...its painful listening to the narration (which sounds like a student from the special class reading.) Chris Herren told his own story much better.
In this day and time who the hell doesn't know about the negative effects of drugs?! Good video...but people's level of obliviousness is mind boggling!
He tells a story about a nurse who saved his life, basically he overdosed and as he was leaving the hospital a nurse chased him down and helped get him into rehab. That nurse was my aunt Diane Read. They still talk to this day. She’s an amazing person who helped my dad thru multiple stints in rehab due to alcoholism. Unfortunately his story doesn’t have a happy ending. I love and miss him so much. At least Chris got a happy ending.
This is a little on the dark side, but man I really want him to see this, so share the vid if you can!
BSOLZ he came to my school last year. Amazing speaker. Nice video man, told his story perfect.
BSOLZ this is terribly sad. made me water up a bit. i know what its like on the addiction side. i still struggle and identify with it. thank you!
BSOLZ do hank gathers he died in the middle of a game watch the 30 of 30 espn
BSOLZ he came to my school in Ware Massachusetts. And it was pretty crazy, bc were a small school and all. But yea it's a sad story and I appreciate you making this video and I'm sure he would as well.
BSOLZ Chris Herren came to my school and talked about how drugs would ruin ur life
He is changing more lives now than he ever would have as an NBA player.
Chris Herren is a special human being.

Same here
Freshly Baked Memes He went to my school too. You from Massachusetts?
Saúl Buruca I am
Mario Clayton I mean that should be obvious cuz you got Isaiah as your profile pic lmao.
Freshly Baked Memes I actually got to shoot some hoops with him after the presentation... he fucking smoked me
Props to Van Exel and McDyess for taking Herren to their view they practically took him under their roof by being parent types when he was on Denver
They are real friends but even real friends can’t stop u from being addicted but van excel and Mcdyess are mvp caliber homies
It really sucks though when you dedicate as much time and effort as possible just for that person to go fuck it all for simply... having the opportunity.
The amount of cocaine he did...and before games, he’s so lucky his heart never gave out
His first mistake was picking Boston college over Kentucky.
804 Nino if you're good doesn't matter what college you go to
Quattles26 That's extremely wrong. It matters where you go because some colleges have way better coaching then others. The coaching you get can make a great player into a star. Champions aren't born, they're made.
OverTheTopTV Not really. Pretty sure LeBron has had ass coaches for most of his life.
If he went to a different college he wouldn't have been introduced to cocaine
im from boston but I agree
Homeboy, you've been dead for 30 seconds
ASOLZ awesome documentary
ASOLZ yes omgggg I watched it today from health
He says that every show lik
ASOLZ Yeah he came to my high school twice and gave the same lecture. Pissed everyone off
Twice.
Chris has turned his life around and is one of the best motivational speaker on the topic of drug addiction out there and I believe his life is Success now
Yea ur right but he's life could've be way better if he wouldn't never done it i rll feel bad for him tbh
Just proves when you have everything you want possible it could be taken away in a second
Angel Mercedes that didn't happen, he had a pretty rough child hood and he did drugs for most of his career, this wasn't an all of a sudden thing.
Angel Mercedes He took it away from himself
His son is coming up and a stud.
addiction is no joke it can be crazy hard to brake fr
mmayne0 behumble *break
Break
Nah, you never break it.
@Clubby McWankfist cocaine isn't fake news, never do drugs

I'm pretty sure if you get traded from the Nets you're pretty bad
Great job Bsolz. Chris Herren actually came to my school 2 years ago, to talk about his story. It is great to see this tragedy recognized.
He came to my school and told us his story, I'm very applied to basketball and this really hits me, Ive been tempted to do drugs, drink alcohol, etc. And I've never given in, and this gives me more inspiration to stay clean of that
Man Chris heroin could've been a really good player

Heroin/opiates really don’t make you age or make you ugly unless you stop taking care of yourself like meth addicts do (no sleep or eating or hygiene)
Was thinking the same thing
I've met him, it was great. Being from mass, & being in recovery, I've seen him speak a few times. Chill AF, really sweet. Solid dude.
So nice how he took his own time to spread the message instant sub-Love these videos!
This guy came to my high school and spoke and we have a whole club that he started in our school that is an anti-drug club
You did a great job with putting this together. Concise and informative!
I’m from Fall River he is still talked about today 💯
Thanks for sharing this a lot of people don't understand that addiction isn't really a choice, but that you can get help and ultimately seeking it is up to that person

I met him he came to our school and talked to us about his addiction. It was a very deep emotional story he told us. It was an honor to meet him
You would think going to Fresno California would have taken away the bad element in his life. But no, his boys moved to Fresno. Now that's what you call a Squad.

This is seriously one of the best videos of over had the honor of watching for the time I've been on RUclips. Thank you for this.
Watch the 30 for 30 on him, this seems like a bootleg story compared to espn's 30 for 30 version, highly recommend watching it

Derek zarn Reggie Lewis died from a cocaine overdose dumbass
Daniel Yankun dude Reggie Lewis died from a heart attack
Andres Simoneau Caused by a coke overdose
Daniel Yankun no
Get your facts straight. Even the doctors told that he have no drug usage have shown in the autopsy. It was the fucking media who twisted it and got sued by Reggie's family.
he came to my school today, made lots of kids cry. I really enjoyed hearing his story.
He just spoke at my school Tuesday
BSOLZ this guy comes to my school every year, he teaches us about drugs every year and how to avoid them. thanks for making a video on this, More people need to learn about this story, other than kids from MA like me
This guy spoke at my school... he was really cool
This person talked at my school. He is such a cool guy and he genuinely wishes people to not follow his path. And regrets his past decisions 100%
NBA Content Yeah, and it's tragic
Blaine Croucher not tragic in the least bit. Tragic for his family maybe but for him it was fucking stupid
NBA Content
Look up the definition of a tragedy...Being conscious of his decisions doesn't make his story any less of a tragedy. You don't get to pick and choose what certain words mean to you.
NBA Content His story probably isn't as bad as half of the people having to grow up in inner cities and make it out through basketball. He had the way paved for him and fucked it up big time

For an abuser of the worst drugs imaginable he sure looks clean cut and ok? I guess no matter how much you abuse it won't take a tole on you physically at all ( just the fact that he was still playing pro basketball that long) but more psychologically
Chris is a great man, came to my school to tell his story and has been sober for almost a decade. I got a lot of respect for him
This is sad
Best of luck to Chris as he moves on with h8s life. Thanks to him for continuing to reach out to kids about drug abuse. And....thanks for posting this v8deo!

These videos are so poorly written.
You basically did a fourth grade summary of Herren's 30 for 30.
Robert thank you. Video sucks
Yeah...its painful listening to the narration (which sounds like a student from the special class reading.) Chris Herren told his own story much better.
Man you did a good job. Fuk the haters. Where are there videos at. You put in work...they didn't!!

The fact he played great under the influence is incredible
Saw this guy at a high school. Incredible but was a very sad story. Great guy.
