Thank you - this brought back memories. This brought good memories. In the tournaments that I participated back in the 80s, thumbing was not allowed, not allowed to hit opponent coin directly and all players played with locking grips. I played with spin middle finger grip and preferred to hit middle coins at sharp angles than straight line to pocket.

I play with friends, I live India and we have a lot of rules in game. If we play like this 4th member on board won't even get a chance to strike.
For example rule like we can't strike or hit opponents coin directly, penalty if we pocket opponents coin, shot at timestamp 4:02 is banned and others such rules. But anyway nice gameplay its been a while since I played Carrom now I have sudden urge to play lol, Good luck !

Well i do remember him still today; it was the advent of new year 2007 then, inter state championship it was,held at thiruvananthapuram, he was from hyderabad and I from manipur, playing in the nationals for the first time.Luckily or not my third round opponent happened to be him,it was a knock out; well you could say he beat me pretty hard, two white slams in the two consecutive sets that he won, each. He bagged the winner title in that tournament. And again later that year in faridabad, the next inter state tournament was held.He did well in that too but couldn't hold the title again.He was defeated by the then champion lad from delhi in a very competitive match.That was the last of my experience since i quit playing after that until today when i saw his name in my recommendation videos in my feed as a world champion.I wasn't sure if it was him or not so i looked him up and it turns out to be him. No other rival opponent have ever defeated me so badly like he did and so i still remember him. He is one of the best.
