Hi Steve , brilliant demo and just the perfect project for me . Great and clear method of machining a ring mandrel , thanks a mill Cheers Colum Jevens👍
Excellent video Steve. It’s nice to see precision work on inexpensive machines. There are a lot of people out there on limited space and budgets who look to you for inspiration. Thank you for sharing.
Very useful and interesting stuff Steve. The ring mandrel is a very neat tool, and I guess you can make them up in various sizes and keep them for future use, rather than adjusting the size for each size ring you work on. Are you planning to do any videos about ring making in the future? I would be extremely interested in that - one of my future projects is to make up a set of three rings (possibly from stainless), and it's something I've never done before. Cheers, Craig
@@SteveJordan Thanks, that is going to be very interesting. I was also eyeing up some 25mm diameter x 100mm pieces of round bar titanium. Looking forward to that video. Cheers from Tasmania, Craig
Thanks Steve , I just started making coin Rings , I thing I am going to try to make one with a couple steps in it for different size rings , was just wondering if it might work out , Thanks again Steve , I really enjoy your videos, have learned alot with viewing them 👍
I've made hundreds of precision components on the Chinese Mini Lathe. I really love the Chinese equipment and tools that they make now. Especially as they are so cost effective to buy and excellent quality these days.
The Chinese put men into space, make fine electronics and some fine machine tools. Besides, Steve has upgraded his mini lathe so much that a Hardinge might just be a step downwards.
This simplifies making an expanding mandrel for many projects. Great video Steve!
-clicks on video-
-hears iconic voice-
-is happy-
Now I want to give it a GO.
Gonna make one and try my hand at making a ring. Thanks Steve.
Nice work. Great mandrill. Great work on rings. Thank you for sharing

Nice one Steve,
I wouldn't have thought to taper a caphead bolt.

Great idea for the mandrel
Hello. I'm an amateur machinist, and I live how you turned down the screw to give it a counter sink finish. How did you do that?
very awesome, can I order the item?
Any reason why you cut the slots before making the through hole and threads?

Hi Craig Yes I hope to show some ring making soon. I have just ordered some titanium offcuts off Ebay to make a couple. Regards Steve

Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the Interesting Video, well done steve.
Dam Steve you make nice stuff thanks buddy. 👍👍
What's the brand of the lathe? Where did you get it?
Can you make steps in the mandrel to accommodate different size rings ?
Yes you can do that to a certain point, maybe for two rings. I haven't done it but I would try it if I needed to.

I would not jeopardize my integrity by running a CHINESE machine.

You must respect and obey the most glorious nation in China. I am so proud to be a Chinese. We are Chinese the smartest, strongest and greatest race.
And when it comes to making crap products and machinery the Chinese are master in that department !
And the most disgusting virus causing dying race aswell
You are delusional.
