It should be illegal, on a commercial level, to throw away edible food. The waste is completely disgusting and the people who retrieve edible food from the dumpster are amazing people. Frankly anyone who retrieves saleable items from dumpsters behind stores is a good environmentalist. Thank you, brave divers.
I hope to dive one day
considering there is the good Samaritan act, it's just senseless corporatons, I do know at least there are stores that can sell damaged goods at a heavily reduced price, so thats a start
Sometimes it is just a sanitary thing, but it goes way too far.
As part of my Ethics class in college I had to write an essay on why a store should be donating their about to expire food instead of throwing it out. It was less than 10 pages but it took me forever to write it. I just kept getting PO'd about the store's reasons for not doing it and had a hard time being civil. Like the store was afraid if they saved the food for donations the employees would "steal it." I ended up making the suggestion that employees be allowed first pick or something. But I wrote and erased, "how about paying your employees enough that the can afford food and don't feel the need to have the donations" several times.
My dad used to dumpster dive at McDonald's, they just throw away all their perfectly good burgers after closing, among other things I'm sure. Sucks.
I will forever be mad that fascists latched onto and politicized detransitioning as "proof that transitioning is harmful/bad", rather than simply being part of someone's journey to better understand their gender identity.
You know that communists, actual communists, were and are way more hostile and cruel to the "lgbt" than fascists, right?
No everyone who doesn't agree with you is a fascist, rebecca. Pick up a book and go read coz you seem not to understand the words you're using
I'm considered a detransitioner despite the fact that I am not cis. I had come out as a binary trans person. I later came out as non binary. I sometimes even identify with the sex I was assigned at birth. By the definition of a detransitioner, I am one. I do not blame society for my identity not lining up at first, not do I think that it should be harder for binary trans people to transition.

20:44 “do you have a disability” “no” “well you’re about to get one” is my favorite threat now
Honestly same. As a disabled person, I sometimes wish others would have one just so they understand the struggle and stop being suck ableist dicks. But irl I don't want people to just assume disability is a punishment or just see the struggles it comes with. Disabled lives are worth living. Just wish more people could see that.
Edit: No hate to the creator, I love her videos and found it great.
the explanation of anecdotal vs question based conversations was so so good! i'm autistic. i knew about this difference but I don't think i've ever seen it explained so well! my instinct is never to ask a simple question just to cue someone to continue speaking- doing that feels fake and cold to me, or like how someone would talk to a little kid. if i ask a question it is because i want to know the answer! but if i can personally, concretely relate to the story you told, i can get excited about it with you. otherwise i will feel detached from the conversation. even though i like *getting* asked questions. anyway,
communication is super interesting!!! i love you have a good day! for your self care today; fight at least 1(one) nazi and/or drink at least 1 (one) glass of water ♡
I always knew there was a difference but didn't know what. I just always thought I was bad at story telling because everyone liked their story but the story I followed up with wasn't well recieved. But. That makes sense too.
I lost a very precious friendship due to that disconnect of communication.
I am also very bad at knowing when people are sad/ need me to comfort them. I just seem to never better myself in that area. Whenever she got angry at me, that I don't take care of her, listen to her properly, I always explained that I communicate differently and that I don't want to harm her.
The first few times she seemed to be understanding and I promised, that I'll change it, but I just can't. So we had this same fight over and over again.
I really wanted to keep her by my side, but I just can't. Neither does she really understand me. It's so frustrating and upsetting. :(
@@juliakiehl9557 oh, i'm so sorry. that sounds hard, and disheartening. i definitely struggle when i'm supposed to comfort someone, it doesn't come naturally, and i have to hope my friends understand. i think it must be so important in relationships to know that people all express affection and care worry differently. but it's hard
@@kalliope420 Thank you for understanding. It really isn't easy. I am sure that with time I'll figure out how to help the those around me more, but I am not there yet. I'll leave her by doing that, but she understands why I am doing it.
But for now it's hard to find new Friends or rekindle old friendships, because I am already so overwhelmed with what's going on in life.

I trained myself to interact with nuerotypicals because yeah they do hate when you take the spotlight away from them. I ask the questions and just listen, but more often than not, I leave the conversation with no connection and I feel like, yeah, this person does not interact with me as a person but just have me there to validate them.
EXACTLY!
3:00 I had no idea what anecdotal communication was until this video, I’m neurodivergent (with parents who refuse to properly get me tested despite many teachers and councillors saying i need professional advice) and fir so long I felt inconsiderate and rude when responding to someone’s experience with my own similar experience as my parents and friends have given me weird looks or say “I’m not finished” or “it’s not all about you. Really close friends of mine, however, find it comforting and encourage me to reverse this way of thinking. I appreciate when people put this on the internet cos then I can discover that it’s not me.... it’s just those who don’t understand me 😊😊😊 stay safe and be true to yourself xxx
Addition: my close friend was recently diagnosed with adhd, I don’t think I have adhd but I can relate him so much (we’ve also dated the same guy and the 3 of us are good friends)
Wow, coming from a country where anecdotal conversion and communication is extremely common and normal (Ireland) it would be considered really rude here to say that to someone after they tell their experience that relates to the current topic of conversation. Like idk what it's like in other countries but here we tell stories to communicate with those around us and that style of communication where one person tells an anecdote and then someone else tells one that relates to the first one and so one is like the default.
@@user-if9pb1fz9w that’s actual super interesting since I’m in England and everyone here tells me it’s rude or does that sour face where they’re not telling you that they don’t like you but it’s clearly written on their face, ya know?
@@Nixmeri2411 OMG that's a thing in England. I had a friend from England a few years ago and she did that exact thing.. Everyone thought she was really rude and kinda arrogant but it makes sense if that is part of English culture. Its mad how different Ireland and England are dispite being so geographically close u k.
@@user-if9pb1fz9w EXACTLY!!! It’s maddening on its own, people relate and converse with others anecdotally but since it’s not the norm for “English culture” it’s then considered rude 😔 I don’t have any Irish friends to chat with so I’m left trying to engage in a conversation by asking questions but I feel so invasive and like I’m nitpicking each detail as if I don’t believe them ya know? Although I do have some friends who don’t really mind if I respond with my own story even if it’s not the answer they’re looking for
3:30 Wait do... do people honestly see people relating similar experiances to what's just been said as interupting/trying to hijack conversation? That's kind of heartbreaking to hear... Its the only way I find I can express how I might relate to what people are saying. I struggle to express empathy and it's the only solid way I've found, but now I'm gonna be even more paranoid it comes across as rude.
Sadly they do, and there really needs more awareness that using anecdotes can be a good way to relate to stuff.
I don’t understand WHY? Just WHY? She explained so well, but like… shouldn’t it be a back and forth? Like why aren’t they equally as excited we have even more in common now?
yeah :l. but the good thing is, if the information can be spread to them, some people WILL put in the effort to learn how people communicate. from explanations like in that clip, i learned that allistic people aren't being cold or condescending when they gravitate toward question based communication, or to sympathy over empathy. i know that when someone is asking only questions, theyre expressing their interest in what im saying plus probably trying to be a good listener, and that's great! i don't like to be interrupted either! now they just gotta vise versa this shit and learn to interpret how i communicate. we can meet in the middle, rather than it always be autistics and adhdrs clamoring to act as much like others as possible
@@d.h.4778 i know right! i genuinely don’t understand… plus, when you’re going back and forth you’re BOTH engaging in the conversation and it’s not one-sided at all
@@castro_. right? The way she explained it NT just want to talk about themselves and don’t care about anyone else in the conversation?

CBT really worked wonders for me even as an autistic person. Maybe cuz most of it was deprogramming me from the cult-like-mindset I grew up with, dealing more with the cognitive dissonance that came with that.
The first therapist I went to, she only practiced CBT. She helped me a lot with deprogramming, like you said, but after only 7 months we both noticed there wasn't really anything left to improve on, and I was still suicidal. We started doing sessions less often and eventually she told me that in the next session she wanted my mom to come in so that we could start discussing medication. That next session was supposed to be on March 28th, 2020, which you might recognize as being right after everything in the US shutting down. I haven't seen her since.
My school put my in therapy with someone else. The first session was almost entirely paperwork type stuff and at the end he looks at me and he goes, "I think we should try something different for you. I think you've gotten as far as you can go with CBT." It has been fantastic being in therapy with him. I love myself, I love other people, I want to be alive to be alive and not just hoping that someday I can be fixed. It also helps that we share a lot of common interests
@@nyandoesthings omg literally, helped so much for a few months, then we did talk therapy which was good for a bit, but eventually there was nothing I was getting out of it by going so I stop and she made me feel guilty about it and I was like, oh ya we are definitely done. Hoping to find another therapist soon but it's so hard getting help when you're homeless
im glad it helped for you!! it truly proves how different each autistic person truly is 💞
for me, cbt never worked when it came to autism. my anxiety loved it though, and it helped essentially wipe out my depression. however, my inability to socialize and keep friends and most other things did not change w cbt. it’s actually why i sought diagnosis for asd.
cbt is certainly good though, and i do think it can help autistic people, especially bc so many autistic people are comorbid with anxiety and/or depression.
i once argued with a terf in a comment section. 10/10 would not recommend, your brain cells will evaporate :')
I was arguing with a terf that said that non-binary people were fake and didn't exist, that it's a new fad. I brought up the fact that many indigenous cultures have had three to five genders for thousands of years. He straight up said they didn't count. They didn't matter. I was at a loss for words

In her second essay (she split it in two and i probably should’ve watched the first one but i haven’t yet) she said that just because Malcom X had these misogynistic views and actions it does not mean that every single thing he said should be thrown out the window. It just means we should look at the things he said (and many other leaders we put up on a pedestal) with a critical and modern lens. i wanna talk about the tiktok at 1:36 like it just.. doesnt sit right with me. i suffer from npd, i have a lack of empathy. yet i still have enough sense to look at something and say "hey. that's not right." the absence of empathy does not mean the absense of morals and i really feel like that's what this tiktok is trying to convey. also, people with empathy are fully capable of being horrible people. like. that's just not how lack of empathy works ?? we still recognize that all people have value. also.. to say people are more likely to be white supremacist because of a DISORDER is weird tbh..
I think they were attempting to agree with you with that last statement of we have to develop a reason to value people not necessarily have it "innate" (which merely makes it easier to be unempathetic) I also don't think they meant everyone doesn't care about everyone else, but how people can be unempathetic to any other category of people. Some examples I can think of: street panhandlers, rowdy teens, the elderly
this is so valid, i personally am hyper-empathetic, but i don't think that it makes me more moral. i developed hyper-empathy due to trauma, so that tiktok rubbed me wrong as well. thank you for bringing this up ^_^
Yeah her whole thing was pretty retarded. Hierarchies appear everywhere and white whatever is not the cause of our social hierarchies
I think a lot of people mistakenly conflate empathy with compassion. You can be a compassionate person without experiencing empathy. I personally have a very hard time empathizing with people in certain circumstances but that doesn't mean I don't want to help people who are hurting. I can have trouble recognizing when people are hurting and struggle to understand what it feels like to be in their position, but that doesn't get in the way of me wanting to support people who are subjected to inequality. I'm hoping that the person in the tiktok was operating under a faulty definition rather than genuinely believing that neurodivergent people with low empathy are inherently bad people.
Did you watch it until the end? It's not anti anything other than yt supremacy, they advocate the way around those with low empathy getting dragged into certain frames of thinking about human value. The answer is to use your head and not let a system think for you to determine yours or anyone else's value.
I have never seen a video on dumpster diving, but that was most of my childhood. in order to make ends meet, we would take anything we could from dumpsters, typically behind aldi, and I remember one time we went behind staples and found a whole bunch of phone cases/pencil holders that me and my siblings used as toys for years. another time, a family friend called us and told us to go to a farther store because their car was full and dragging on the ground from the weight of the food. we literally left in the same situation. every time we got a lot we shared it with friends, and they shared it with us. we never got candy very often so dumpster diving behind pharmacies after halloween, christmas, or valentine's day was always fun. not to mention going behind delis and getting bags of not even stale bread. although pro tip you will have to learn when they take the trash out, when it's picked up, you don't want to be seen because some ppl are assholes who call the cops, and only take meat in the winter.
sorry for the wall of text lol

i love the second tiktok since it just makes me feel both happy and sad bc why would anyone waste yummy food but i’m glad the poster + their friends enjoyed
I think it was at a grocery store? I feel very nervous dumpster diving for food just because I'm unsure about how safe it is, but I do dumpster dive for building materials like wood. We built the chicken coop out of almost entirely salvaged wood.
Some stores and food places purposefully try to destroy the goods while they’re in the trash. Like pouring bleach on it so it’s inedible. So sad; so wasteful!
I have digestion issues and even perfectly fine food makes me sick sometimes, so I'm hella paranoid about when things might've gone bad.
I wouldn't be able to eat out of a dumpster, out of sheer fear of the pain I'd be in later, but it does fill me with a deep-seated rage that that food was put in an unsanitary environment/thrown out to begin with. It's sheer capitalist greed. As the saying goes, "And when the poor have nothing left to eat, they will eat the rich."
I really love the Lego analogy, I've never seen that

My personal favorite way of viewing health and wellness is holistically, meaning every aspect plays an integral role. Mental, Emotional and Physical Well-being all have a push and pull effect, and each one can alter the other two aspects.
For example, feeling stressed because of a test can cause physical symptoms, and prevent you from focusing on the other classes you have that day.

5:00 The TikTok about antidotal conversation made a lot of sense to me. Although I am officially neurotypical one of my friends looked at me and just said "no your not". I relate to conversation by thinking of my own experience and sharing an experience of mine means the exact opposite of "I'm not interested in what your saying so I'm trying to change the topic" which I've been taught interjecting a story communicates. Sometimes the way I overanalyze and hyperfocus on people's wording (despite struggling to read paragraphs when I'm not 100% invested or understanding it) can be a challenge. A lot of a challenge. But now as time goes on I feel more and more thankful for the way I evaluate language because I catch terf sentiments fairly easily.
I was real determined to learn how to catch terf dog whistles with the black girl/person's tiktoks about almost becoming one, and really relieved to find out I would've stopped conversing with those people the moment they said terf bs. And I know some people don't have to worry about being terfs, but I don't want to reiterate anything they say or hurt trans femmes and women with my ignorant comments. Impact matters so much more than intent, and I will do whatever to protect the ladies from ignorant, idiotic terfs. In fact my mom once commented about trans women using women's restrooms (of course) and I was quick to say it literally doesn't matter. They aren't creeps or men in drag/crossdressing, they are women. Whether you're religious or not, that will never change and you can't ignore science forever.
I got a little sidetracked, but this is all to say you don't need to validate yourself for being who you are. You don't need to be hyper femme to be a trans woman because there is no specific way (trans) women look. Same for trans men and nonbinary friends. Also, sometimes things that can be overwhelming may have good sides, like questioning certain wording and avoiding harmful people! You don't have to force yourself to find positives in every issue or a disability if it's unrealistic, but just know there is always going to be a positive factor in you-that factor being that you simply exist. You will never, and should never, have to do anything of any kind to prove you have inherent value as a living creature.
Have the day you deserve, lovelies. Remember terfs do not truly care about women and cause harm the same misogynists do. Maybe slightly different, but the same olive branch nonetheless 🖤

Here’s my issue with the whole idea with paleness being the one viable option of beauty,(besides the very obvious.) How do you not look at someone beautiful and admire them? Despite skin tone, or moreover, because of it. I find attractive people attractive, and I’d say the person at 8:20 is. Like, idk, it’s very odd to me that people call someone ugly just because of color? Also, the fact that people can’t draw a line between appreciating how someone looks vs fetishizing them??? Like what???
Who TF asks for the whole backstory of a traumatized adopted or fostered kid??? It's one thing to ask for triggers to avoid or how best to interact with them, but to just DEMAND to know about their trauma in detail? That's fucked.

9:18 Such as good conversation to have. Personally, I am demisexual, and the idea of saliva on me is like sensory death, no thank you. I have to REALLY like you to kiss you, lol.
11:08 related so much to the aesthetically attractive part, that is how i see everybody. the body is stunning, why wouldn't i wanna see it? but also, not in a seggsual way. like yeah, my bf's body arouses me and excites me and 🌽 does the same but it's not always that way. in fact, usually it's bc of the beauty of bodies. my bf is the only one who's understood me in this so far, most ppl think it's some dumb excuse😭
I know the 2nd one is about not wasting food but I honestly wouldn't eat dumpster food. you don't know what else may have or is in the dumpster, and even if it's still packaged, bad things can still get into it. idk but it just rubs me the wrong way.
What the hell, I'll just eat some trash.
(2:40)
after seeing this i released that the reason that some of my favorite conversations are a anecdotal ones. and they are all with my friends/ family that are on the ADHD and autistic spectrum. i’m not but i do tend to lean into those types of conversations more then the question ones. also why would adding your own thing after a person is done talking be rude?
11:55 LITERALLY. Stop asking autistics to just do do do when in burnout! It's harmful and I personally think it's another way to view people through productivity. Saying people can't possibly need to just rest and do almost nothing to get better. No, you have to DO things to get better, to BE better.
So if you need to just rest and your therapist tells you to do do do and you can't...they will probably view you as lazy and gaslight the hell out of you for trying to help yourself.
Mr dude, why do you post the tiktok rips in horizontal? It's a pita to watch on mobile ._.
aaaa!!! Idk how to fix that :(. I download off imovie in the youtube format.
@@aleftistdude If there's a TikTok or phone ratio option, you could choose that. It might say 9:16 aspect ratio or something. Of course there's a chance your program just doesn't have it, in which case you might be able to export in square/4:4 to minimize the size of the black bars.
@@Lu4455 ohhh I can try?
hi!! is someone willing to condense the tiktok at 7:18 for me? the combination of the background and audio was giving me bad sensory issues but I want to learn!! no pressure at all, thank you! ^_^
here is the transcript for the tiktok, if that helps:
Europe was never more advanced than Indigenous populations. European inhumanity came as quite the big shock. Europeans in America preferred Indigenous life and Indigenous Americans in Europe didn’t really see the hype. The Indigenous critique of European existence was bad for eurocentric colonizer evangelists. They needed some way to make Europe not look like shit, so made up Material Economic Progress. They imagined every society must be more or less advanced based on the way that they… uh.. gathered food. All societies ranked along a linear path because to Europeans it made Europe look good. So instead of other societies being contemporaries with varied ideas about dignified human life, Europeans pretended other people were hardly human at all to legitimize colonization and genocide.
(All said in sing-songy manner as the creator of the tiktok floats over a background of space with varied articles as sources coming onto screen when they become relevant)
@@piperats thank you so much !!
6:13 who did this cover of the minecraft soundtrack? it sounds so lovely
22:36 I had no idea Noah was a drunkard...yikes.
does anyone know exactly what this person is talking about at 9:10? i wanted to search it up but I have no idea what they're saying. would really help 'cause some of the stuff they're talking about relates to me almost a bit too well
So you timestamped the end of a ticktock on colourism in relation to colonization. But the next one is what I think you might be talking about and he's talking about the Asexuality spectrum. He's just having to use slightly different words because ticktock likes to take down videos with certain words in them.
@@jaskierdraven9191 ohhhhhh alright thanks so much. i don't actually have tiktok so i didn't really know that that happened.
@@makotheqt5939 adding to the other reply, the tiktok seems to have replaced the 's' sound with a 'p' for all the words, idk if that helps you understand a bit better!! if not i can try to explain more--
12:00 what does this cbt mean here, i probably am not thinking of the right one
Why is the video not vertical full screen?
Can someone pls explain to me the lesbian land?
wait…. where’s the rest of the “lesbian land” story? i need to know what happened
Hey bestie, I know I've mentioned this before but I keep hearing this static-y noise during your videos. I hear it using two different headphones on two different electronics. I just wanted to remind you so maybe you could fix it?
omg at what timestamp
@@aleftistdude I mean... at a lot of them tbh, just about every other clip or so?
