Emma Myers as Pip is the best she is an actress that is really good at projecting emotions (specially suffering), so I will for sure cry again for Pip 😭

So I watched the show on Netflix. It's a solid 8/10 for me. For just 6 episodes, it was written masterfully. So many plot twists. The acting was commendable and the chemistry between the two leads had me glued to the screen. Renew worthy.
Emma Myers is absolutely PERFECT for the role of Pip. We need to stream tf out of this series so thry can adapt the other 2 books (even if i hate the third book).

Fast forwarding to now where I'm a huge Holly Jackson fan who has all her books with the opportunity to watch my favorite book series come to life. Thank you Holly and Netfix writers/producers for making this show I can't wait for August 1st!!!!
Just finished watching the show on Netflix. A few things, apparently this series is based on a book, and I really wanna read it to know more about the details of the story/plot. If you enjoy "true crime" you will like this refreshing series. Kinda like Nancy Drew but in the modern times. The story wasn't predictable which is good but it felt very unrealistic at times. Since I am not a teenager in 2024, it's hard to relate to the environment the characters are in. The actors did a good job, especially "Sal" the few minutes he's on screen, I really felt his presence. His face and emotions were perfect for the scenes.
i've not read it either so got nothing to compare it to, but i liked the vibe of the series and i especially think the actors did a fantastic job, i wanted to see more of all of them. i'm really happy they didn't drag out the series but man, i wish i could've seen more of them all. i'm not a teen in 2024 either but i thought the environment was quirky and cute, no idea how realistic it is but it's an interesting mix of old and new that seems pretty common these days. i'll take it for what it is, i especially liked the costumes.

I bought the book last week as I saw the promo on tv and I like to read the book before watching to compare. I finished the book in two days as I could not put it down and then went and bought the two sequels which I have yet to read. The last couple of days I have binge watched the season on BBC iplayer and I thought it was close to the book. Having read the comments on here, a lot of people criticising that it was rushed and some scenes were not included, this is to be expected in adaptations. I’m just glad that this was a tv series and not a movie. Because by having it as a tv series it becomes more fleshed out and in this case, I liked the extra scenes that were added as that made it a lot more sense for me than in the book. Emma Myers putting on a British accent was just near spot on and I’m saying this as a British person. A lot of people here saying that it wasn’t convincing and that it’s cringey. It is a lot harder for an American to put on a British accent than the other way round. Her accent actually is quite similar to mine as I moved from Scotland to England at a young age and my accent now is a mixture of different places. So although at the beginning her accent is questionable, it does become better as the series goes on: The only criticism that I have which is also in the book is that the school was very Americanised. For a school that set in the UK, students are required to wear a uniform. I know that they are in 6th form and in some schools they can wear their own clothes - I know back in my old high school that we were allowed to wear our own clothes until smart clothing was implemented. But even the younger students not wearing a uniform? This never happens in the UK. And also the use of lockers and having their own textbooks. I don’t know about other schools across the UK, but when I was in school, textbooks were given out in class before we had to given them back at the end of the lesson. And as for lockers, they were rarely used as they were not compulsory

I finished reading the book in one day, and watching the series in two. Neat for a series adaptation, the casting was spot on!! Even if they made some changes from the book, those were some good calls and cleverly executed. Loved PipRavi soooo much. Sarge and Watson were so great OMG!!! REALLY WANT SEASON 2!! Haven’t read the books, I know nothing about the story, but I love Emma Meyers and murder mysteries, so I will be watching.

I feel like it was set in Connecticut or Massachusetts or some other northern state so I was surprised when BBC picked it up

Searched it up and apparently the UK version of the book has it set there while the U.S version has it set in Connecticut
depends on which version you read. in my copy it's set in the UK.
