In this video I unbox and use the Midea CUBE Smart Dehumidifier. This dehumidifier looks a bit different than the usual off-the-shelf offerings and also functions in a slightly different way. It can hold 50 pints (~6.25 gallons) of water in it's tank or you can use the passive drain OR this particular unit includes a pump to pump the water where you need it to go.

Me too!!! And we just got a new smoke detector with the 9v battery included...I was thinking that damn battery that came with it is junk! I was just about to change the battery (but wanted to read the comments first). LOL
It was hard to watch the video as I anticipated the next chirp. Lol.

This is the most amazing dehumidifier I have ever bought. Completely changed the functionality of both my central AC systems. The AC company wanted $4000 per unit to install a dehumidifier in each system. This works for both!! I turn it on downstairs and it does the whole house. Worth every penny!!!!!

What a great design, somebody was really thinking outside of the box when they came up with this. Very minimalistic and very contemporary. I have a perfectly good working dehumidifier in the basement that runs continuously but I may have to pick up one of these because of how great it looks.
Fantastic design, I never knew that I would be so excited about a dehumidifier bout I'm have my in the basement working great. I had to place it on a small dolly to move around. I used smaller bucket to transfer the water so won't damage humidifier bucket.Just set the water level to what you can handle weight wise.Air quality has improved dramatically.Thanks for the video.

I got one in August after a flood and its amazing. I can control it with my phone and i run it on continuous drain with a garden hose. I got the 20 pint model

If you want to dehumidify a 300-400 sq ft room would you recommend a thermoelectric or a compressor based one?
Just got the 35 model yesterday. Had 2 Ge's that didn't last a few months each. So no more of those. I ran it last night and a huge difference already. I run pump mode and it wasnt loud at all. Bought for 99 and they had a 30 rebate so 70 bucks was a steal.

I just bought the same, exact dehumidifier in white from Amazon, and it now comes with attachable wheels, so I guess people were complaining and Midea heard the complaints.
Thanks for the video! I just bought one of these and wanted to see how it operated prior to arrival. I haven't got it yet but I can see that the air is lukewarm coming out of it. I plan to put it in my crawl space but I've noticed that it blows out fairly warm air, it's not hot, just lukewarm --not like lukehot but not Cool Hand Luke either. I was hoping to see some footage of the pump being used but I'll figure it out soon I'm sure, I just wanted to note that the air coming out of it isn't cool like one might expect but definitely feels warm, like it wouldn't heat your house in winter or start a fire but it is noticeably warm. Again, thanks for the review, just want to note that the air coming out of the dehumidifier is warm, like lukewarm with a hint of ghost pepper.
I've looking at this one for about a month. I pulled trigger today. The AC/Dehumidifier floor unit I currently have wasn't pulling water to my liking. The setting Would only go to 66%. Looking forward to my new option
Great Review sir, how long is the drain pump tubing? Is it long enough to run maybe 15-20 feet away?
All dehumidifiers are going to produce heat. The compression and evaporation cycles both happen inside of the dehumidifier and the hot side is usually after the cold side so you're going to feel heat coming out. This is basically a micro air conditioner with both the hot side and the cold side in one unit. Dehumidifiers are great for basements because they keep them not only dry but a steady temperature as well.
Yeah my basement work room gets freezing in the summer with the air on but with this in it I'm always comfortable.
Does it have an automatic turn off when full?
what about the level at other parts of the place? Supposed to work up to 4500sq ft but all we can see is one space.
I have the 75 pint one and it does an excellent job, but the thing is noisy like a window AC. It will heat up a room if you don't have your HVAC monitoring temperatures. Sometimes mine blows cold air when the compressor turns off.
Is the fan strong and loud?
I run mine while sleeping in summer. Saves on AC power costs
Personally I would not read reviews. I bought this exact model. It shipped from US to Hong Kong. It did not work from the first day, it would burst into random engine sounds, sounded like an aircraft crashing. No Midea support team would help me. I purchased it from Amazon. They would not pay for return shipping and would not send me a new one. I could not even register it for warranty. I was then passed onto Midea Global, Midea global passed me to Midea Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Midea said they did not deal with this model in Hong Kong, seems pretty unbelievable, they then referred me to Midea China (I think you get the picture about whats going on)
I wanted to upload a review to the Amazon site and they deleted it. Then I tried to repost the video from unpacking and Amazon blocked my account from writing reviews. (Think you know where I’m going with that, they must only accept positive reviews.)
Ended up being a total waste of time effort and money. No customer support. Nothing!

Think I paid 150 or 200 at Ollies. Just got a notification to clean the filter. Came to see how to do that. Thanks. Been about a month. Definitely going to hook up the pump as im tired of emptying it every day or other day.
was hoping you would check out the pump function since you bought the model that allows for continuous draining and is $40 more expensive. did you even use the continuous draining mode with the small hose? i can't seem to figure out how to turn mine on and i think i might've gotten a dud

Did you get it yet? Mine is working very well so far. I'm currently using the pump mode feature that drains water from bucket to outside automatically.
Got mine today. At 2pm it was at 61%. 10 hours later its still at 61%. The bucket filled up to level 1, so it is pulling water.
I have it set to 50% and on high.
The thermostat reading is 10% higher than my nearby Amazon Air Quality monitor.
I got 2 cubes, tried the other one and same thing.
Not sure if the Midea is off of my Air Quality Monitor is off.
I suspect its the Midea.
What am I doing wrong that the cubes humidity didnt drop at all in 10 hours?
We bought one and it is amazing. Only problem, ours has the wifi and app function. The app doesn't reset water level after we empty it. Any idea how to get app to reflect the correct water collected ?
Do you know what the blinking icon under the current humidity level digital display means? It's the same icon (multi-pane window) that appears under the fan speed button. I can't seem to clear it and reset the humidity level. I've misplaced the quick start guide so not sure what it says on this.
That means clean the filters.

Meanwhile I have one........ but from QLIMA. It works, although there is no native app, one has to use smart life app.

There is a filter that slides out. Very easy.
bought mine 3 days ago. but it hasnt collected a single drop of water.
it says i have 31% humidity level and it only goes down to 35% . so i put it on continuous mode and even with 24 hrs of it being on. not a single drop of water was collected.
is it cus the humidity level is too low? but my previous humidifier would collect water even when it read 30% humidity before it crapped out on me.
so is it designed to just not collect water under 35% humidity? or is my unit defective?
If you don't hear the compressor kicking on then there is no water collecting happening. Try listening to hear for the compressor to kick on. I'm not certain but I would imagine that if you're under the lowest humidity setting it won't kick on.

I called customer service and they confirmed that it should collect water even at 30% relative humidity. I had it on continuous mode and i did hear the compressor kick on and off. So they asked that i do a "shower test" and place the unit in the bathroom with the hot shower running to test the sensor. ...and still no water.
@@lahel2145 I guess it could be defective. But 30% relative humidity is really low for humans to live in. That's not really healthy. If the air is too dry it will start absorbing water from your body too. Like from your eyes and from your nose. Your eyes will get itchy and your nose will be too dry to protect you from viruses and bacteria so you will get sick more often. Wooden furniture will start getting dry too and will crack if it's too dry. It is recommended to have 40-60% relative humidity.
@@FShuriken Exactly. Unless you have some very specific use case that's not a normal home environment, then 30% is really low and you shouldn't be wasting the electricity running one of these anyway.
How hot is the air coming out? I will be using it in the summer so I don't want to make the room colder
All dehumidifiers discharge hot air into the room. The mechanical working principle is that air is chilled, causing moisture in the air to condense and collect in the bucket, the heat is passed through a heat exchanger to rewarm the conditioned air and discharged. To put it simply, a dehumidifier is like an A/C that dumps heat back into the room instead of outside.

Still using it and have been using it daily just to keep the humidity down inside the house. Usually keep it at 50% setting. Works really well so far. Thinking about possibly putting it down in the crawl space under the house but it’s just so nice having it inside. Pulls a lot of water from the air.
@@GeneralExpert do you have any problems with the app? I’m on my second unit and within a week of this unit, I empty the water out… and when back on the water level reads the same as before emptying

I bought mine from Costco and the pump doesn’t work. Got another and it’s still not kicking in. Did you get yours working?
I’ve been reading other reviews and it seems like the bucket needs to fill up beyond level 4 (basically full) before the pump turns on. You can pour water in the bucket to test it.
@@SteveKuchta Oh! That's the first I've heard of this. I've been scouring comment sections everywhere to find the "hack" solution to my identical pump problem. Hoping to avoid a return.. I'm a few bars short of level 4 so I'll give that a try. And maybe won't have to return!
@@diamondbracelette I ended up buying one and another quirk is that the dehumidifier has to be turned on in order for the pump to work. I guess this makes sense, but I was assuming that the pump would work to empty the bucket even when the dehumidifier wasn’t actively dehumidifying!
So, in order to test, you want to fill up the bucket and then turn on the dehumidifier. It won’t start pumping right away either, but if you leave it on for a little while (under 30 mins), it should start pumping.
@@SteveKuchta Big thanks. And yes I've confirmed for myself that the pump will in fact turn on once the bucket is full or close to it. I still haven't seen or heard the pump working but I can see that the water level has been cut in half inside the bucket. It doesn't appear to fully empty it. Somebody else mentioned that this design prevents the pump from burning out too quickly but that pump failure is still pretty common.
@@diamondbracelette yea, I think you are right about it not emptying all the way. It can also get pretty disgusting in the tub, so it’s probably a good idea to periodically dump the tub and spray some cleaner in there. I think the manual recommends every week, but that seems like a lot!
That's a lot of area for this dehumidifier to cover, and I doubt the house was completely sealed.
I have a condo and was wondering if this is something I could set in the sink and let it drain there while we are gone for a couple of months at a time?
You could do that and even control it from whereever you are and/or on a schedule. Really, the only concern would be the sink stopping up and no one there to monitor it. If you got a water monitor (I know Ring offers one and there are others out there as well) just to make sure you don't have an accident, this could work well.

If you turned on the air conditioner then you skewed the results. ACs with remove water for the air they are cooling. Other than that good review.

Costco sell this and now it has wheels. Forget about using it inside when you are trying to cool the room using air conditioning. This thing gets HOT.
I'm pissed, on Amazon the 35 pint model like I bought is $99! I just bought two at $144 each! Never fails! You'd be crazy not to pick one of these up if you have any humidity in your house!
I agree they work great and that is a killer price, but I picked up two at that price and I can't get the pump to work on either unit :/
@@diamondbracelette I've heard pumps on all brands of these dehumidifiers are suspect and break easily. Also they only pump when the bucket is full, you know that, right? I don't use the pump on either of mine. One I use the bucket and the other is bucketless with a drain hose.
@@joeking433 I didnt know about the bucket needing to be full! I came across a similar comment saying the same thing. Glad you confirmed that. May I ask how or where you found this info?
@@diamondbracelette It was on the online manual as well as I heard it on RUclips. It just waits until the bucket is full to pump, which makes sense because you don't want it pumping all the time it would burn the pump out. I also heard that the pumps aren't that good and don't last too long before they go bad on all brands just not midea.
@@joeking433 Ok thanks, yes makes sense and appreciate the feedback. I bought two at the 99 sale price and will just keep one for a backup in case of failure. The pump is essential in my situation. The dehumidification really does work surprisingly well.
Had one of these, worked fine for just over a year and now it doesn't produce any water. Very disappointing for an expensive unit.
Amazon reviews indicate the wifi is crap, the bucketless doesn't work meaning it drains to the floor.
Mine has been on for 2 years with auto drain no issues

Time to change the batteries in your smoke detector
they are junk..I've had 2 fail one within warranty the other 2wks past. Midea service is A1 and replaced the out of warranty one but these are not reliable. They work great at first but fail when you least expect it. They ice up from coolant/compressor failure. They overtime create more and more hot air before they begin to ice up then they're junk
Yours doesn't seem to be working that well. I can easily fill up my bucket in a day. And mine hits the 50% I set it at and shuts off a lot and then back on,

The version I got at Cosco has castors. So maybe check around. There are apparently a few different versions/sizes.
