Which is why we try to be safe and stay distance, wear a mask, wash our hands - do all the things, SO WE DO NOT OVERWHELM the HOSPITALS 🏥 My niece is a physician cities away from where I live in a small town. @@YamabikoWoodArt You can fill the winning goblet with wine once without waterproof paint. But just drink with one big sip, so that the goblet does not have time to damp. )))
You can polish it with natural oil and shine it with wax, it will become translucent and water resistant. Natural shellac and wax polish will also work great.

As a nature lover it really hurts to watch a thick trunk like that to be wasted for a silly showpiece. That tree must have been at least 20 years old and I am sure this guy can make the same showpiece out of a much smaller log. The worst part is that everyone in the comments is appreciating work that makes our planet a little less beautiful.

I used the center because the outside was corroded and the inside wasn't rotten, but now that I've learned the technology, I can use it even better. Sawdust is recycled into building materials.

カップの方を先に作ってから根元の方を削ると木はやはり反りが大きいんですね！
金属とは違いこの世にひとつしかないものを作れるのは木工の特権ですね！

金属旋盤の事は全く分からないのですが、木の場合は旋盤のチャック(材料を掴む所)から離れるほど衝撃も振動も大きくなるので、基本的にはチャックから離れた所から仕上げる事が殆どのようです。
最近の機械はどんどん進化していてオリジナルを作るのも難しい時代になりそうです😅
