  • How does the FX-100 measure up in 2020? Do I keep it? Is it junk? I have it built up with the memory record unit, no tape! Its a feature packed 3ccd camcorder purchased in about 2008. Recorded under horrible lighting conditions, 7pm, heavy overcast, very flat lighting. This camera records in the HDV format, 1440 X 1080I, very easy to edit on my desktop on Sony Vegas. You be the judge, I would like your opinion. More test footage to follow!

I also own the FX-1000. In good light, the picture looks really good and acceptable for the present day. I'm looking for an MRC1 at a reasonable price, but it's getting harder and harder to find any. If any MRC1 is for sale, it costs two and three as much as fx-1000. There is an alternative, Atomos Ninja V.

I still have mine but it's just collecting dust after years of use. I think it might make a good live streaming camera and I always wanted to purchase the Sony HVR-MRC1. Thanks for posting this.

Hi,I have a Sony HVR Z1E that I use with MRC1 recording unit and it works real good,it can also be used on other camcorders with firewire, but could'nt get it to work on Canon XM1 (GL1 in USA ) but it did work with a Sony TRV110E .Your FX-100 makes some lovely video,KEEP IT

Looks awesome! I really want a Sony HVR-MRC but they go for more then the camera still. I have the camera and love it but one day the tape deck will clearly stop working and want to keep using it :)

i paid about 300 for mine used, I already had one that came with the Z7, the 2nd one goes with this camera. Its a bit bulky but for a studio camera it extended it's life. I agree that the tape drive will eventually die. Mine still works but never use it.... Thanks for viewing...
