The Texas BBQ Chef is a national treasure. Protect him at all costs
Ya Republicans overall are just more genuine and better people unlike their counterpart. Also everyone saying dont bring politics into this cry about it. The left brings politics and Trump into literally everything.
@@Justin-nq6kf don't be weird man, how about just don't inject politics in food videos?
Where should we take him next?
@@CantoMando Next video - "Texas BBQ Chef flies to Hong Kong to try REAL Chinese BBQ". Might be costly, but it'll blow up the channel with a new audience in Asia. Let's make it happen!
@@dejectedfrogcat2840 You mean how Democrats inject their politics into everything and make everything about Trump? I dont see people saying the same thing when thy do. Its nothing weird its the truth.
The Texas guy is very respectful to other culture and I was admiring him how respectful he was
BBQ masters are always willing to learn about ways to enjoy meat. It's one of those moments where the deeper into your craft you are, the more profound your respect for it becomes.
@@TactlessGuy so many ways to enjoy meat 😋😋😋😋😋
What a cool dude 👍

darien is so freaking lovely, absolutely melted my heart to see him bow 45 degrees to Torry's mother-in-law. man i'm craving some kbbq now...
Mike it is a real shame that Piggy's Island was a victim of arson after the pandemic (which most restaurants struggled to survive). Thank you for putting a spotlight on this family run gem.
At first he was being polite, and didn't know what to expect. After a few bites, he knew he liked it and loosened up and really started digging in.
pretty sure it was all dem shots loosening every body up haha
This whole video is super wholesome. Unscripted, raw authenticity at its finest, between 3 great people. This video should go viral for the simple genuine interaction of different cultures discovering each other. Great job guys!
Love the Master's saying "I'm a creature of habit, and like to stay in my comfort zone, unless someone holds my hand". He's very open minded, but he just loves what he loves.
Always tells me that everytime we meet 😂
Same, I get him
He’s so excited to bring his family that’s how you know he was being genuine.
For anyone interested, -jang means sauce. So ssamjang means "ssam-sauce", it's specifically for a ssam but Koreans use it on many foods. And gochujang is "gochugaru (korean chili) sauce", etc. Source: Korean Englishman 💖
Love this series! Keep bringing this guy back!
Lol, that's cool, jang also means sauce in Chinese
Love this. It's pronounced very similar in Cantonese and Mandarin as well
Zoeng in Cantonese and jiang in Mandarin 醬 🎉🎉
Yeah cuz the korean language came from Chinese
장 comes from 醬
Yeaaa it's very similar to Chinese! 醬 is zoeng in Cantonese and jiang in Mandarin! For sauce! So cool to see languages have similarities
I love Darien, he is such a character and good soul. Love to see him back.
Darien feels like such a kind authentic human, i don't know him personally but dude seems like a joy to be around
As a korean, you did a good job show casing Korean BBQ and Korean culture. Got me craving some BBQ both Texas and Korean 😂
Korean here too. If you come to Toronto Darien's restaurant is legit Texas bbq.
THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. I need a 100 episode Darien series right now.
Give me 100 ideas and we’ll take him there
@@CantoMando I think it would be great to show him more home cooked styles from different places or maybe take him somewhere that highlights traditional/historical banquet food. Maybe something about the historical evolution of food in certain cultures and use that as an opportunity to educate him and viewers. Its always good to understand why customs and traditions come about and food is a language that a lot of people understand.
@@CantoMando Filipino bbq, sisig and crispy pata
He gotta try filipino Lechon 👌
As a Filipino, i agree with other Filipinos, Filipino food and bbq pls!
Darien is a man of respect and a man of culture. This is a man of someone you’d want got invite to every meal. This guy def invited to the next kbbq. Love a guy who is optimistic and open to venture into new things
I saw Darien on the thumbnail and automatically clicked on it. His energy and willingness to try new things brings a smile to my face
Cantomando, im really happy for this transition with the channel being more educational. Very engaging video!
When I see Darien, I click. He's the perfect guest and so humble. You should have a spin off series with you two traveling and eating.
This whole episode was just so well done. I’ve always believed food can bring any culture together.
Much love
The fact he said he’s down for other food ops to other places learning & exploring different cultures, if not just BBQ cultures internationally. You gotta send him on an 🌎🌍🌏 BBQ or food trip in general. Never knew a series of Darien List content is what we all needed!
👌🏼💪🏼🦾😯👏🏼
Great video and I hope to see more crossovers where chefs try each others cuisines and dishes. This really works well because of how respectful everyone is being and very open minded about everything.
PIggy's has been my favourite restaurant for almost a decade and I remember hearing about the fire that happened during covid. When I heard they reopened, I instantly went back and introduced it to all of my friends to support them, so I'm really glad they're getting the recognition they deserve!
Man this video is so amazing. The texas bbq master is the real deal. Also the korean chef and this amazing lad for coming up with this idea.
I was happy to see Darien here and hope you will have him again on future videos. I have been going to Beach Hill Smokehouse (Darien's restaurant) for years, am also Korean, and know Darien. You guys lucked out having Torry show you the way, because it really helps to have a Korean teach you how to navigate Kbbq. Loved all the history included.
Great seeing Darien being so open and enjoying different country's foods.
The vibes and energy put off by every single person is amazing. Great video!
texas bbq chef is taking the country by storm! what a legend already
and gosh dang he looks amazing. 51?! never wouldve guessed
the Texas chef is one of the most humble and polite people.
Darien is the man, definitely will check out his place the next time I'm in Toronto
Man this was one of your guys' best videos yet. He has to be a permanent member of your channel!!! And props to the chef my gosh
Korean BBQ is a first experience you want to have all the time.
I love how he was fully ready to eat the meat raw if he had to lol
As someone from Texas, Darien embodies the best part of us. Very happy to see him enjoy Korean BBQ!!
I love people like him who’s willing to give anything a try atleast once in the same way I always say atleast try it once if you like it you like it if you don’t you don’t but atleast you tried it
subscribed just for darien, he’s really a bridge between cultures and foodies
Darien really gives that energy that you'll always have a good time with the dude. Glad to see him again, a good balance when the guys are getting roasted by Eric 😂
Darien makes Sheldon feel safe 😂
Makes me smile seeing someone trying and loving a new cuisine for the first time. Especially one I also love
such an enjoyable watch, loved learning not only about the food but the history and culture of Korea, adds additional layers and immersion to the tasting. thank you guys!
I love this!! I love that he was open to learning and trying new things. The respect they showed each other, that’s what it’s all about!
Respect to the chef from Texas! Most Americans are apprehensive toward foreign food but he showed the upmost respect!
Such a great video. I had a lot of fun watching, and I'm definitely craving some korean bbq now, but that last bit is just a huge punch to the gut. It's so sad to see such a welcoming and gracious spirit be met with such hate. I hope they can get back on their feet and find even greater success going forward!
These 2 should have a pop-up collaboration. Bring 2 worlds of bbq together!!
As someone who is half black and korean, watching videos like this is awesome!!!! Love all the food!
I love watching people sharing each other's culture!
Darien is absolutely the sweetest!
Haha I'm impressed mike learned korean drinking culture to this level!
Love the energy from the Texas BBQ chef. I feel when restaurants work together in same area the area lives longer.
the variety is also awesome. I hope one day I will be able to try foods like this. Especially kimchi. currently I can't due to health.
piggys deserves some love.
Pretty much how I expected it to go. Korean bbq is a gateway drug into the greatness of Korean cuisine.
Need more Darien on this channel. Im subscribing just to see you bring him to try more cuisines
to anyone trying kimchi for the first time: like pickles go well with a hamburger, kimchi cuts through heavy and fatty flavors really well. I love it with pork and even traditional BBQ
ngl that was wholesome and satisfying at the same time 19:04
Right when this comment showed up, I was like “huh what are they talking ab- OH. 😂” what a tag team
i’m really loving this mashup of cultures. Food brings everyone together.
Bro is so wholesome
You gotta bring this guy everywhere now . He's the party maker
I would love to see you take Darien to try hot pot.
Lmao id love to his reaction to Haidilao's shenanigans
with his family? 🤔
@@CantoMando sure why not?
Texas barbecue needs a RUclips channel
Darien got introduce to KBBQ. definitely wont be his last. now he gonna tell the whole fam! love seeing culture try other cultures
There needs to be a video with Darien taking his family to this restaurant
Korean bbq is my fave bbq hands down. so glad the Texas bbq chef got to try it and enjoyed it.
next time, Chinese skewer BBQ!!!
this texas chef needs a podcast
I live right by there. Sadly, the restaurant burned down a few years ago but glad to see it's back!
That dap at the end 29:43 was legendary
I took my mom to Korean BBQ with Soju for the 1st time in her life back in July 2024. She LOVED it! 🇺🇸🤝🇰🇷 P.S. Mike this was pleasing to watch because my mom had the same reactions to Korean BBQ as Texan Chef when it was her 1st time eating it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Darien's gotta get a t-shirt that says, "Remember, I'm not a sauce guy." for the next video, because there needs to be another video with him.
Love seeing you guys have a good time; that's what it's all about:)
K -BBQ X Texas BBQ is great combination!
They should have sex
Darien saying he’s 51 is crazy bro looks so young like mid 30’s
He looks around his age
I love bbq. I had korean bbq once and I knew what I had to do. I make my own marinade at home for korean bbq after watching the most authentic recipes I could, buy short ribs and marinade them, then cook them myself. I can't go throughout my life without being able to make korean bbq at home myself. It's that good. That marinade is otherworldly.
Just had Korean BBQ for the first time in Seattle this summer (2024). Definitely different cooking your own food but was truly such a fun experience and the food was great! Would love to try again ❤️
ma texas bruddar is just full of love
Gold when the owner said "alley oop"
I could watch these three drink and eat their way across the world trying different bbq restaurants
Chef needs his own RUclips channel
his such a cool guy, i love this man so much bro smile always make me so cheerful 🔥
Love how people can unite with food
thank you! now we know! from Melbourne~! lovethis!
Bro I love these videos with my mans in the cowboy hat this is so wonderful to see ❤
This is so awesome. I love the sharing and going between each other's BBQ. THIS is what I miss most about living in the DC Metro area...all of the different ethnic restaurants. The food was sooo good. Where I live now, there are very few ethnic restaurants and the food isn't that great. It's nothing like what I had overseas or in the DC area, that's for sure.
I love Korean BBQ. Been a while since I've gotten to go to one. Yum yum 😋
20:03 “Butter too expensive so I use margarine” 🤣🤣
Constructive Criticism: Don't come after me. I did go to Piggy's island when they reopened. At that time, the ventilation was pretty bad so the whole place was smokey and it didn't help with our appetites. Grant you, this was back when they first reopened, so It's very likely they have fixed it. Also, i found it weird that they didn't have tables for larger groups. I will definitely give them another chance as I love Kbbq and don't just want to go to the one that starts with D all the time. Thank you for showcasing them. I will definitely check them out again.
Tory mentioned to me that it was hard on them financially after the fire - they definitely did a big overhaul. Let them know you came from the video :)
@@CantoMando I totally get it. Which is why I’m willing to give them another chance. Lots of competition now a days. Before there was only piggy’s
You should take him to a yakinuki next time. Chef will love it!
Love these videos with Darien!!!
first time having Korean bbq was in angeles city in the philiphines --(a town called korean town) delicious food.
What an amazing video
great video man good vibes
Mike’s a good man.
I’ve never had kbbq cooked on charcoal. That’s going to be my next adventure
From a country where most people in Korea were suffering from famine from the Korean War where the GDP was equivalent of Ghana to now the 14th in the world, people now can enjoy meat today where it was never the case where the young Korean cannot have a meal without meat. The time certainly have changed for much better.
Darien is so damn amazing. He should be an ambasaddor or something.
I’ve been a big fan of Korean bbq and truly eat my fill when we go. I was first introduced on a double date in Tacoma WA about 20 years ago. I love the spicy pork belly with a little chard ❤
Darien, if you see this, much love and respect to you sir
Wow. I've eaten there. That's my neighbourhood. Very cool.
Having the owner of the restaurant sitting with you cooking for you is not something that many people can experience, Great first time, but not sure how great it will be the 2nd time if Darren is the grill master, experience will show,
Gotta bring the Korean chef to the BBQ masters domain next!!
Love your video content, keep up the awesome work.
In South Africa we have Braai(BBQ)using hot coals no flame 🔥 we normally will have , we are Africas Largest meat producer so Lamb chops and beef is a must, chicken and pork
love Darien, he is amazing
2:44 - WHERE, (!!!!!!!), can I get a bottle of Soju like that?!? I loooove the look of it!!!! (Yes, I will buy something, just for the look, sue me 😂)
