God, there wouldn't be enough space for 400 people, even if Phil, for example, was the only content creator there, but there were so many content creators, and some of them were really very popular, like Dream. It's hard to believe it was just because of “stupidity”, or Twitch didn't know what they were doing completely… Just looking at the huge number of Dream subscribers, you realize that this room is too small.

@@channin10 disabled people got trampled, messed up pronouns on panel, not enough communication for panels, cramped rooms, unsafe foam pit multiple people got injured, people got pushed over, fans STALKING ccs hotels (not twitchcon problem, but still mega weird), a good majority of disabled people who were in line for meetups didn’t get to meetup + more stuff also

Oh gosh I'm so glad Phil's got a respectful community. I saw one TikTok the other day of Quackity telling a group of his fans that he couldn't interact that day but would try his best to the day after, and those guys just appreciated his efforts and said goodbye to him. It was really wholesome and cute and man I wish all communities are like that :'(

19:43 with this part, as Phil mentions, it's up to the creators to call that out. I think it's part of the reason why Phil doesn't have this issue to the level of the others because he calls that out from his fans and sets clear, firm boundaries against it. The others, however, don't do that nearly as often or as firmly which means people who can't take a hint just continue with their toxic behavior. It's really sad.
I went to twitch con San Diego and it was horrible. I was in the panel line (I came at like 10:30 with my friends waiting) and I was pushed and shoved against a trash can for half an hour. I was about to pass out so I had to leave. Accessibility was horrible, lines were stupidly handled, and the security didn’t understand what was happening. Do better Twitch honestly.

Bro twitchcon fucked up massively not just the twitchcon event but the booths at the event like the lenovo/intel booth that ran the gladiator ring with the death trap "foam pit" that they kept running even after a girl broke her spine 2 in places.

@@UniqueDestinyCA they kept it up pretty much the entirety of twitchcon. Hasan and Will Nef went against each other literally right after the girl broke her back. Lenovo made them sign all the parts of the waiver but waivers don't protect against negligence.
Crushed. Her spine was crushed. 2 bones were crushed, and she has nerve damage to her bladder. She had to get 4 bones fused and a steel rod put in for support. Good news though! shes walking! shes using a walker, but shes up and walking now :D

I find it mental that Phil is the one that calls out the creepy stalker behaviour that some people in the dream team community do before dream himself, but to be fair Dream would just say "hey guys i'm fine with you guys stalking us and taking photos at a distance but pwease dont come up to me and stab me with a knife , love you my little kittens mwah mwah!" so maybe i shouldn't be surprised.
Could it be that Phil is the one officially in the comfort in his home with time to properly adress it?
To be fair, Dream has a tendecncy to think the best of his fans and isn't as firm as he should be, you're right about that.
But maybe give it a bit of time? From what I've seen, Dream is still out and about doing shit. Hopefully he'll get around to talking about it soon? Unless he already has...? I don't follow Dream very closely so I don't know if he has by now.

It’s so surprising to me like the streamers with most viewers for months, gets a room to fit 400 people.. when a average stream for them is between 3000 to 300.000 viewers… like how did they think that was a good idea?

I think the reason they said that crumb and aimseys pronouns were she/her is so that twitch can look inclusive with having female streamers. They might as well say ‘ omg like we have a panel of all females, look at how good we are for having female streamers ‘
It’s also quite obvious that it was intentional because whenever someone tried to correct them they got timed out or even banned.
It probably *was* set up in a rush and on a whim without much planning. They were probably rushing to get it going asap to catch the hype and increase attendance in the huge boom after Dream's face reveal.

He almost makes it sound like this event was run by, not idiots (well, kinda idiots?) but people who don't view content made about video games as worthwhile entertainment unless it's something like CoD or something similar, and decided to sideline them for being minecraft streamers.
And as an American, I meet a shocking number of people with this view point...... who then go on to tell me how much they love watching someone play Fortnight or Overwatch......

9:14 When this happened, my bestfriend called me FROM TWITCHCON because the staff wanted to be rude as hell to her. She wanted so bad to see that DSMP panel. I don't recommend Twitchcon at all.

Now I don’t know too much about twitch con but often it’s better to not have an event at all then a shitty one so people don’t spend their money on shit. This is based from what I’ve heard.
One scuffed thing with Amsterdam was that they didn’t kick people out of the theater between things. I was there with friends for the opening show, said fuck it and stayed for the dsmp panel. Was fun, but I got hearing damage lmao. Then had Jack staring at me for most of the panel.

*My take involving the unsafe and uncomfortable beheavior of the fanbase*
I try to think not all these people are trying to be creeps, so forgive me for being hopeful.
Honestly I think majority of the fanbase, being such a young age, are still learning where the lines are of being a decent human being. It's something we learn and are somewhat taught but not everyone knows where the lines are.
These creators are people just like us. They shouldn't feel uncomfortable from our actions because that isn't fair to them and if you really care about them you'll give them their space. So don't stalk them and don't say/do anything that may make them uncomfortable or unsafe. If you aren't sure if you're actions will cause that, try putting yourself in the creator's shoes and imagine a stranger doing the things you will or have done.
The TwitchCon events are meant to have the fans as the audience to observe or interact the creators in a comfortable, safe, and organized manner. The hotels, backrooms, exits, and what not are not meant from us to hang out at for a glimps or conversation with the creators. Also no taking pictures/videos of them in the distance or following them. That's plain creepy. I know everyone who attends the events wants to see or meet a creator in person, but you have to accept you may not be able to do so.
I understand some people see the boundries and don't care if they cross them. That isn't right and if you have that mindset you shouldn't be at events like TwitchCon. It's disrespectful and unsafe for you along with those around you.
If you care about the creators then you shouldn't put them into a position that may cause them to feel uncomfortable or unsafe. The creators are people not characters. Our actions have consquences, negative or not, and we as well as those around us will be affected by them.
Try to make sure you actions won't ruin anothers experience. That's empathy. Use critical thinking and common sense to understand if certain actions and behavior will cause that.
If you aren't sure where the line is put yourself in the creators position and imagine yourself in a few scenerios. Still unsure? Ask people. Ask me if you want! I'd rather someone ask me these questions than people feeling uncomfortable by your actions. I'm a flawed person, but I know a few things on how behavior may come off to people.

Ugh I saw eret at day three of twitch con San Diego but i almost didn’t because they had “closed” his line and I was super sad cause I missed Phil and niki on day two and all of them on day one but I ended up seeing him cause they let people still in. That line limit is stupid as these people have huge followings and some people pay hundreds of dollars in hotels and travel to get there just to be turned down a chance at meeting their favorite streamers. Edit: also the whole eret line was rushed so only few people got to actually talk to her and get stuff signed by her twitch just needs to run better shit I swear.
About the creepy fans.
I don’t want to talk about this too much, because I really don’t know too much about it, but from what I’ve heard I think part of the issue is the gender imbalance.
A lot of DSMP fans are women, and especially in the DTeam circle. And unlike male fans, female fans are treated with a lot more second chances. They’re behavior is viewed as less predatory and weird, and they’re generally given more passes than male fans. This is kind of fair, especially if you’re a female CC, but it does mean that female fans are more likely to swarm or harass their CC’s, because they haven’t been told it’s wrong like male fans have.
I don’t know if this makes sense, and I don’t want it to sound like “well they should’ve told off their fans” it’s more of a general critique of how women are given passes which enables predatory behavior.
Listen, I agree what you're saying is true. But women being given more passes is not even "kind of fair", I say this AS a woman, they are more predatory and they do need to be called out more, either all of it is okay or none of it is okay, and in my opinion none of it is okay. Please don't feel like you have to walk on eggshells around this topic, women need to be called out, I'm disgusted with what other women get away with, especially in this fandom. I call them out and I give no mercy, there is no excuse for being a creep, men have boundaries too and men deserve their space and boundaries respected just as much as women do. Please if you come across a woman being a creep call her out, don't take excuses and don't be afraid of backlash, anyone who does give backlash for calling out a creep is just as bad for defending them.

It was honestly a really bad experience for a lot of people. I wrote a comment about what else had happened during twitchcon(mainly about what happened with crumb) on the video about Hannah’s perspective and legitimately- someone said they deserved it and people shouldn’t get .Mac about a “musty gaming convention”, and that they wanted the US to get hit by like a bomb or something💀(if you want to see my comment I’ll copy & paste it into the replies; as well as the reply saying crumb deserved it)
My comment: Honestly the San Diego twitchcon was horrible. People were stalking content creator(crumb at least) and waiting in their hotel to see them walk out, people were getting hurt(someone broke their neck I believe), crumb/people cosplaying them weren’t allowed to wear their boxes on the third day, the content creators were sometimes not even aloud to walk around, they were getting peoples pronouns wrong, they didn’t have enough seats for people in panels, and probably more happened than just those things.
I’ve realized the person hadn’t replied to this comment- it had been another one that I made talking about crumb. But basically their reply was: “that weirdo deserved it she should be normal plus what type of soft gen. gets scared at a musty gaming convention, I hope Russia invades us next or NK can finally use the nukes.” Of course I don’t really give a damn about what they think but it was honestly surprising that they went as far as to go on the video, read my comment, and write out a whole reply just to try and prove me wrong💀

I’ve had that same problem about being called the wrong pronouns I go by she/her but I’ve had several people call me sir or boy all because I’m wearing a hoodie and baggy clothes. I hate it so much I feel so sorry for all of them that twitch panel it was horrible

I really wanted to go to Twitchcon, but I’m so glad my parents and myself said no because of how shitty the way they set it up and how they treated everyone was. I would’ve had a panic attack considering the stories I’ve heard of how the staff treated people. They need to plan this out, make it a lot more smoothly, and not be so rude to everyone

I think twitch con might have been a lot of people s first convention and they didn't know how to act in panels. And that leads others to bully and make dun of the dsmp fandom. Since we are naive and young and don't know how to act around people. I've seen alot of hate for our community because of this. And i kind of get it but still. And I also think that the Panel should have had a little bit more structure, not just the audience questions. But also don't give us a bad rep people!!! Everyone knows who I'm talking about....

I don't understand why people are still blaming twitch entirely after watching this video? I'm seeing all the comments about dream like omg love karen dream slay queen and it's like - this guy signed a contract and agreed with a company to run a panel with a specific amount of people, then literally ON THE WAY to the panel decides to throw a tantrum and say he actually wants double the people on the panel or else he's not doing it. Sure twitch didn't do their best when it came to things like security and moderating questions, but like dream completely ruined their plans with absolutely zero notice. the room was 400 capacity, and they let 400 people in. you missed out? damn that sucks but welcome to the real world. i'm honestly surprised about how immature dream seemed to be in this situation and it's really made me think differently about him - I mean, signing a contract then threatening to pull out completely if they don't immediately add twice the number of people they prepared for literally minutes before the show? how can anyone see that as anything but inconsiderate and immature
The agreement was for the dsmp to go on. Everyone thought they were invited to the panel but it was only when they got there Dream was told that wasn’t the case and Dream wants all of the dsmp to be involved so yeah he’s got a right to be mad and refuse to go on when twitch either don’t explain or rug pull. Sorry you don’t like Dream but he was doing a good thing for his friends to get them involved
Idk how they didn't just expect there to be tons of people. The dream smp has some of the biggest numbers on twitch (heck, Tommy broke a world record with a Dsmp stream) and the amount of fans is HUGE, yet they think they'd all fit in a room to fit 400 people? It wasn't "just life suck it up" it was terrible planning for the amount of people who like the Dsmp.
Even dream alone should have more than 400 seated. Dsmp is HUGE and needs to be accommodated
