Diamond is a superb heat conductor. So if you use a grinder on it, although it could damage the grinding disk, it could also conduct enough heat that it could damage the metal that the diamond is fixed on (which is most likely to be brass)
Grant i had a nozzle fail this week. Had a partial clog diamond back that was an absolute bear to clear. Actually happened with polymaker PETG of all things. Ended up having to cold pull with nylon 5 times before i finally got it. Tried the acupuncture needles 1st, cold pulling with the PETG, i started getting worried that I wasnt going to save that wonderful nozzle. That diamondback nozzle has 9,500+ hours of print time with all kinds of materials. Love that thing.

I've never had a good experience with Elegoo, and while I wanted to believe that they've turned over a new leaf *and* made an inconveniently big 3D printer, I was not lining up to be an early adopter. And thus far, I've seen very few reviewers of this machine improve my confidence in Elegoo.
Their resin printers have been stout for me, we bought every one of them, and ended up switching from Formlabs because of the more broad ecosystem and affordable machine prices.
My diamondback broke the first time removing it from the machine. Clear defect in the brass, i purchased another one the same night and messaged Diamondback with photos, they refunded the original purchase without question. They work great, Petg doesnt ball up tpu prints smoother etc.

We have 7 4's and 2 maxs they are not for beginners. If you put them together right tight and tune and don't mess around much in the Klipper they run like a champ. I was about ready to throw the max out the door. There is something up with the y extrusions for the pom wheels. My y liner kit should be here tomorrow otherwise it's printing good. I can only thank those who returned their printer so I could buy them at an awesome cost. @ElegooOfficial
I woke up Friday to a print fail with the hot end and heat break fell out of the print head. it finished off one of those nice new holographic PEI sheets. etch pattern driven all the way through the plate and into the magnetic backing I haven't had a chance to fix it yet, just shut the machine off, between the day job and an unexpected road trip, I don't think I will make it back to assess fully until I get back home. will send pictures. Is there a high temp loctite out there? my SV04 doesn't use a threaded heat break
dang man those are no fun! Sorry that happened! The heatbreak should not get TOO hot so even blue should be okay I think. I am assuming its the grub screws holding it in?
@@3DMusketeersgrub screws were locked up, couldn't budge them for stripping the allen heads. I had changed the ptfe tubes (the short ones in the heat break) the old ones kept grabbing the filament. Replaced the whole top end yesterday; gantry, extruders and all, I bought a spare machine for good reason
No they're not poorly designed. The fact that Elegoo took the leap to introduce such a large volume printer priced for the prosumer with the option to have 4 print heads is incredible. Could they have tested a bit more before release? Yes but they also did an early release and ship for Kickstart supporters. Realistically it's a fantastic first release of a monstrous printer to the public.
I almost bought an Orange Storm within seconds of the kickstarter going live, but I bailed out once I saw they wanted me to pay more money to add 4 PEI spring steel beds. Not going to spend that kind of money to have a ugly seam in the bottom of my prints because its not one solid bed sheet.
I dont think it would be THAT noticeable, but certainly there would be something. Mind you, I would rather have to replace 1/4 of the bed than the whole thing if you have an engraving moment.

was a jeweler for 12 years diamond will laugh at a angle grinder that isn't diamond impregnated. heat on the other hand. diamond stands of fine to high temps its the rapid cooling after that heating that causes it to shatter.
First part, Z Hop is HORRIBLE and does add time to the print. For 99% of printers Z hop is ok as with lead screws its ok, but belt driven printers (voron 2.4's) over the course of a print it can wonder off. Even with the most perfect of belt tension. You can hit those nozzles with a hammer and they WILL NOT break. For the Giga, Joel was tierd, it was late, and he was in a hurry. As one should always double check the Z offset after setting it to make sure the printer actually took it and saved it. Especially with prototype printers as Elegoo has had this issue before with the Neptune 4's early firmware versions. The Giga is about the same price as a single headed Prusa XL, and both machines can have muti heads too. However the Giga blows the XL out of the water because...well its effing BIG for the same money. Another reason Prusa needs to do something to get better pricing, or they will continue to lose market share and become, irrelevant.
If we are worried about the time z hop adds, we should be considering our production schedules more closely. As for belt driven printers, I guess I'll find out.. Joel was definitely tired, it looked to me that he did everything right, but I too would be tired after almost 3.5 hours of heavy lifting and having to be "on" for cameras. It's 100% easier to build off camera. The multi head on the giga is nothing like the XL and while, yes it's larger, I'm not sure I'd put faith into it for my business. Mind you, I don't have the space for it either way.. maybe one day I can, but right now, no space. And we seldom have parts that large we need to build that can't be broken up into pieces on smaller printers to get done much faster, even if that requires finishing.

I do disagree on stainless nozzles. They can be a fantastic budget option for abrasive materials. I have ran dozens of kg of glow material through a single stainless nozzle with no damage. The same material destroyed a brass nozzle in 200kg! (I had to know!) They do conduct heat less efficient than brass, but so do many hardened nozzles.
Either it's hardened tool steel that's mislabeled or it's not gitd filament. Stainless is not nearly hard enough to not abrade. Basic material science. 304SS doesn't even crack the HRC scale (70-80 HRB). Hardened nozzles are 58-64 HRC

And the 50 cent ones off Amazon have handled dozens of kg of a wide range of very abrasive glow material in my experience. Never expect them to live up to my A2 or M2 nozzles, but haven't worn one out either. And I have trashed brass nozzles with the same material just for the fun of it. Just saying it is a budget option to play in that arena. 50 cents is easier to risk than $20.
I watched Joel's livestream he was not all there and it seemed like all the streamers were in a hurry to drop their content and not take the time to figure out the machine. We will never hear another word about this printer in till " normal people " buy one and figure it out. I wish Elegoo would pick different people to test their printers who would take the time and help not just slap it together and then call it junk because they don't want to figure out what needs to be fixed. @ElegooOfficial

Well, most were doing unboxings. Testing will take weeks, months, and years..
