Nike Odyssey React vs Nike Epic React vs Nike React Vapor Street Comparison Review
A lot of you are wondering if the new Nike Odyssey react is worth buying compared to the Nike Epic React or Vapor Street, here are my thoughts in this video
I will be taking a casual look at the Nike Odyssey React and compare it to the Epic React Flyknit and Vapor React Street Flyknit, some have tried the Ultra Boost and NMD and notice the boost isn’t really equal, so will the knock down version on React have the same issue? I would say no.
So far I have worn my Odyssey React about 1-2 weeks, and I have to say I am impressed with the shoe. Right off the bat to answer the question, YES it is worth trying, and YES you can feel the react as much as in the Epic React.
There are a couple primary differences between the 3 shoes, lets take a look:
Upper:
Mesh vs Flyknit
Neoprene tongue vs flyknit tongue, all are attached however.
Both fit snug but I believe you can go TTS or .5 up.
Vapor Street has a treated flyknit that I like the best.
Midsole:
Both feel really good on feet!
React feels thicker on the Odyssey
React midsole is longer on the Epic
React is narrower on the Epic
Vapor Street has a ton of React, like so much! But it is also VERY narrow, and feels unstable IMO.
Sole:
More traction added to the Odyssey
Large wear areas on the Epic
Odyssey cushion does NOT feel muted even with more rubber on the outsole!
Still don’t love the T Traction on the Odyssey, should have been solid IMO.
Vapor Street is best option with sole coverage IMO.
Pros: Odyssey React
Amazing value for $120, Better traction that Epic React, and just react is felt just as much as the Epic. Most bang for the buck in a new Nike shoe IMO. LIGHT!
Cons: Odyssey React
The attached tongue I don’t love, altho it is functional and keeps your feet snug in place. No Flyknit may be a con for those that love it, but for me, no flyknit, no problem.
The overall style is just average, nothing groundbreaking.
Pros: Epic React
Great all around shoe, $150 is decent price, great fit if you like a snug ride. Amazing cushion. LIGHT!
Cons: Epic React
Sole is visibly worn down quickly, may fit too snug for some, traction is lacking, especially in rain.
Pros: React Vapor Street
Flyknit is different, and I like it. Style, although hit or miss I dig it. love the Vaporfly Elite style of the shoe. React is insane on these! Most felt on any model, traction is great also. Casual target market a plus. LIGHT
Cons: React Vapor Street
Confusing that these don’t have Zoom X, price point is $180, the most of the 3, shoe is very narrow, feels unstable. Unusually long due to the protruding heel horn.
So in summary which should you buy? That depends on what you want out of the shoes, what your budget is, and what style you like! All are great options and have really good comfort on feet. They are all LIGHT and breathable. 2/3 are for performance as the vapor street is geared toward casual, but all can be work casually. Odyssey offers the most bang for the buck no question, but if you like to try new things and really want a unique look, the $180 Vapor Street is a fun option.
The best all around show for style, comfort and performance would be the Epic React IMO.

The way I see it:
Epic React ---> Ultra Boost
Odyssey React ----> Pure Boost
React Vapour Street ----> EQT 93/17

Quick decision facts : the Nike "Odyssey" line is a stability shoe. That means, there should be stability features in the medial side as well as in the heel cup. So flat footed people should enjoy the Odyssey much better. Can't wait to give them a go 👌🏽

I am flat footed and yes this was very very comfortable. My main frustration is most of nike's shoes aren't compatible with wide/flat feet. Odyssey is a gift for us with collapsed arches.
those odyssey's look like a great peformer, love that they added more rubber to the bottom for durability during workouts 👍

Go and try on a pair first before you think about buying. Honestly they are really cheap feeling and I couldn't justify even spending $60 for the Odyssey react at Finish Line

For bigger + taller people the react is way better than boost
Im 6'4 245 & the react feels a lot better as far as cushion & comfort.

I have the vapor street for casual use and it's insanely comfy, even ultra boost level, though I found a half size up to be the most comfortable size for me. I tried on the odyssey react in a Nike store and went for a short treadmill run and I didn't actually like them, the react cushioning in the heel felt nice but the forefoot didn't feel cushioned enough, and it didn't have good ankle support, especially for a stability or support focused shoe.
Wow I thought I was the only one the front of the shoe feels flat I brought them yesterday from Nike I can take them back but I think I'll just wear these to the supermarket or store runs I only paid 90 for them
The odyessy reacts are supposedly a stability model.
Just bought the Epic Reacts....so good. Flynit is a bit snug but they are super light. The improvement is only to the tread, and even then that T shape is dumb. They should have just put crystalized rubber like the Freedom Everun shoes.
alphazoom II are they worn out by now?
I have the Odyssey flyknit version and they are great, but definitely half size up as mine are true to size and a little tight

็็I had the Ultraboost Uncaged and thought it was the best, but for running, I personally think it's too soft. The Epic React, once worn in, turned out to be firmer and just right (again, in my opinion) for running, and comfortable for everyday use as well.
really liked the thorough breakdown & grades.. would mos def like to see more of it in future.. i think i'm gonna try the flyknit version sometime soon... also, congrats on 300k

Big help in deciding to order a pair of the odyssey’s. Still partial to the vapor and air max’s, but I think will just take a little time for my feet to get used to the difference.
2 year old post yet I find this very very helpful up to now.
have both in size 10.5 - the epic react has a little more wiggle room vs the odyssey. the odyssey fits like the lunarglide 9 - plush and snug - and the heel support and extra outsole makes the react not so squishy and much better for running.
copped the same colorway as you for my epic react flyknits for 120$ on eBay, love them

I got a grey pair of Nike legend react at my local Nike outlet and I’ve gotta say I love them I use them for playing indoor soccer and weight lifting and they are really comfortable
Actually i like the Legend React more than all three React model in this video just because the outsole have more rubber pattern, and will provide more traction and durability, and a big Nike logo looks interesting
How does React feel in relation to Bounce? Can the Alphabounce and Odyssey be compared? Would you ever do an Alphabounce Beyond review? Sry, I’m just super curious.
Odessey for sure... Its just the epic react without the flyknit and an actual support for the heel. THe alpha bounce is way too rigid and the cushioning isnt that great when you can get discount pureboosts for cheap.
next time i go to adidas ill get the alpha bounce beyond! then i can compare both
ItsJugu I have Alphabounce and Pureboosts. From my experience, by the time you break in the Alphabounce, the traction has worn off, but you’re right.
Beyond is more of a cross training shoe and I actually use it for weight training. Its pretty flat footed and def stiffer with more traction and more stable than the alphabounce 1. Wouldn’t make sense to compare the beyond(cross training) to the odyssey(running) imo. I think the better comparison would be with the alphabounce 1. I don’t think I’d ever chose to run in the beyond compared to the 1 based off of the above.
The odyssey imo is wayyyy more comfy than the Alpha bounce. But they are a bit similar in some cases 👍

Less rubber traction was placed in epic react to save weight and help the runner to go faster.
The upper of odyssey react was meant to provide more stability during running.
I think they may just want to avoid to be exactly like the ultra boost,so they only put rubber at the forefoot and heel section of the out sole cause that's where you need the traction especially when you are running,but you can actually cover the whole forefoot area and the heel area and leave the middle part open,not just the tip of these two area,then it's a perfect shoe.
I would buy epic react because looks good performers good and I love flynit
I tried both Epic and Odyssey but I couldn’t even put my feet in the Odyssey. Some reason the Odyssey felt like a hybrid of react + presto. So I ended up getting the Epic half size up.

supertree08 I have read online about other people with original colorways having the same problem. Like it was a production issue with the first batch. Idk it's definitely not a noise coming from the traction or outside of the sole, I taped it up just to test because I thought maybe the same and it still clicked
jeffrey pham ya I know. I have vapprmaxes and I'd rather listen to that annoying squeak than that loud af pop. In all honesty though, my last two nike pick ups (vapormax and epic react), seem to come with more baggage/ compromises than my ultraboosts...
It happened to me. I have had mine for about two weeks when it started making the popping noise. Since I bought it from Finish Line, I went back and tried to return the shoes but I could not return them.
I took them to Nike store in and told me the it is a defect since the material is so new. The popping sound will NOT go away according to the manager. So they gave a full store credits for the shoes. I really liked the shoes. It is just pretty disappointing that Nike would release $150 defective shoes. Would I buy a pair again (hopefully non-defective)??? Yes I would.
bigger issue if nike + adidas are peepin'... $100: alphabounce + odessey react | $120: pure boost dpr + epic react | $150: ultra boost + vapor street. Sadly adidas is bleeding $ in fees to BASF & continental & nike needs to stroke shareholders vs. customers
I know my comment is a little late, but I thought I had to share my reactions to my various pairs of Odyssey React.
First of all, I quickly fell in love with the shape of the shoes and the comfort of the React system.
But, and this is a big disappointment, all my pairs without exception (I had 4 brand new pairs for less than 70€ each on sale ) had the same problem, in less than 6 months the area at the level of the achilles heel explodes, gets holes and makes the shoes very uncomfortable or even unwearable. It simply hurts when you walk !
It is the construction of the rear upper of the shoe that is poor quality made.
If Nike had been inspired by a model with more reinforcements such as the AM1 or the different AIR MAX (90, 95, etc.) the model would simply be a real success.
Too bad !

I love my Vaporstreets. Comfiest shoe I've ever worn. Plus, the look is so dope. Ahead of it's time. It definitely seems pretty narrow visually but I haven't had any problems with stability when it comes to actually wearing them. So I'd say a 1/5 is pretty harsh

good feedback! I think the stability is my own fault because I like to wear them loose, not tightened, the same thing with the 4% I had to actually lace them for improved stability, that is a good point and one i should consider, cheers

I dont think comparing the ultraboost to the NMD is fair since one is a lifestyle shoe and one i built for running. Its only fair if you compare the ultraboost to the pureboost or any other running boost runnng shoe
