The AW SE has cellular for $50 extra (AW8 its $100 upgrade) and, for the entire life of the Watch, even if a person does NOT add cellular add-on to their phone plan, they can still call 911 anytime. Just for owning that watch! Thank you, Apple. This alone makes buying cellular AW a must.
I found that I was much more comfortable giving my kids an AW+ Cellular at a younger age than I was getting them a iPhone. This enabled me to get those protective benefits into their hands a few years before I wanted either to have their first iPhones. As there are some limits on how an AW connected as a family share watch (certain items like third party sleep tracking and other apps that monitor sensors seem to have difficulty doing this beyond the primary AW user), the Autumnal upgrade season is great for taking an older iPhone and dedicating it to a child having a fully functional AW via connecting it to their own iPhone. We just did this for our 9-year old. My wife’s iPhone 12 PM is now his iPhone. However, it is permanently stored on my nightstand as it solely operates as a master devices for his AW 6.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is so true about getting one instead of a watch. You gain so much protective benefits, without giving them too much with the phone. I am curious to see how the family sharing works.
Thanks for the advice. I just bought my daughter who is 8 an AW for this exact reason. I was told I would be able to use without a phone but finding it difficult. I will try to hook it to my old iPhone.
Oh wow this is a REALLY good idea. I’m going to pass this along to my sister, my niece turns 8 in January and has been asking for a phone. This might be our out😂
Good perspective, thanks. My Watch 4 is cellular. I had a plan for almost 2 years and never used it. Just ordered a Watch 8 without cellular. I have no intention of leaving my iPhone at home, but that's just my personal situation.
Thank you very much. I appreciate what you are saying. I found I don't use mine as much as I thought. You tried it out and didn't find it useful. It makes sense to save the money. Thank for sharing your experience.
As a shipping clerk cellular really helps out. When a truck is here to load or unload, oftentimes I leave my iPhone at my desk, forget to pocket it. If I need to call for clarification or something comes up, I can still make calls no problem.
I love my Apple Watch 8 with cellular! I run every day WITHOUT my iPhone and having my Apple Watch with cellular is a big safety feature for me and definitely worth it!
I have cellular on my watch for emergencies, all it takes is one time in your life that you really need it for it to be worth it. Im also looking forward to the long battery life on the ultra
I’ve been having a good time out in public without getting lost on my phone anymore. The text to speech works quite good. I’ve been enjoying my SE 2 cellular watch 😃
"I needed a cellular apple watch because my iPhone died and I needed to buy a house" is probably the most 1st world problem ever! Not mad at it, but I had to laugh. 🤣
I just got my series 8 ss with cellular. Previously had the series 5 aluminum with cellar. In my experience most of the time I used the cellular it was by choice to leave my phone at home. But there were a handful of times where the watch came in clutch. I have gotten into an accident on my bike. The Watch called emergency services. Times where I lost my phone etc. For me cellular Apple Watch is definitely worth it.
I do! I have the Watch SE w/ Cellular and am so thankful! It’s a great convenience to have when you don’t want to always have your phone in the same room but at the same time, can still respond to NECESSARY messages if need be!
I bought the S7 GPS only last year on release day. But I felt the new safety features and going cellular was worth an upgrade. Purchased the S8 cellular on my lunch Friday; got back to work and sold my S7 to my coworker. The peace of mine I feel is definitely worth it to me.
It is definitely worth it in my opinion. Recently gave my brother my old Cellular Watch SE and got myself the Series 8 (also cellular). In small things like using maps while im driving, it is super useful to just glance at my wrist on the steering wheel without having to look at my phone, same thing when getting a call and my phone is out of reach. If you can afford it I would highly recommend it! Also been a lifesaver at work when ive left my phone in the break room and I get an email or message that is urgent.
Thanks you for sharing your experience. Glad to hear that you are getting use out of it. The haptic feedback and direction on the watch are great. I feel like it is safer at times than looking at my phone.
I’ve had one Apple Watch or another with cellular for the last 4 years and I don’t regret it one bit. I don’t use it too frequently, either, but it has definitely helped out in some tough situations and been convenient in others.
I’m 81 and always carry my iPhone. Then I tripped and fell face forward. My iPhone flew out of my hand and landed about 12 feet away! That’s when I realized I need an Apple Watch with cellular!
Thanks for the info. I plan on getting one for my elderly mother who is prone to falling and tends to forget taking her phone with her from time to time. She never forgets her watch though so I figure this one would be a good bet to go with.
A cellular Apple watch is definitely a must upgrade for most even if not supported by your cellular plan because of emergency feature only available on the cellular Apple watch, and the convenience of leaving your phone behind is also an appreciated advantage if your plan supports it, but as a I always say I recommend the cellular Apple watch because of emergency feature alone.
Phone dying is the #1 reason to have LTE. Especially when traveling and you're running around all day. You won't have much chances to charge your phone. Plus even if you buy LTE, you don't have to use it. You cal always disconnect the line and turn off the signal and itll be the exact same as tye Bluetooth version
Battery will be used up way faster with a cellular. Secondly I use sleep tracking and wouldn’t want cellular watch on my wrist all night. Just another perspective
I have a continuous glucose monitor and the app on my cellphone and watch. So convenient to look down at my watch and see my current sugar levels and/or be notified of approaching lows or highs so I can act accordingly/
i definitely will be getting cellular now that i know how it works. being able to listen to music without my phone on me would be insanely useful, especially when going to the gym or wherever
I just cancelled the cellular on mine after a year. The most annoying thing is it has a different number that is forwarded to my phone. Which means twice the amount of spam calls that I had no way to block on my watch. 2nd most annoying thing was not being able to stream Audible. Predownload? Aint nobody got time for that.
I had not ever heard of wrong numbers coming to cell. I can see how that happens and could be extremely annoying. Thank you for sharing and sorry to hear it wasn't great.
I have cellular watch and you are right it’s an insurance. I was accidentally locked out of my vehicle, my phone was inside the vehicle, and I was in a remote location. I was so thankful I was able to call someone to come help me.
I have a stainless steel Apple Watch, which only comes in cellular. I chose stainless steel over aluminum because it has been more durable in my experience. I don’t use the cellular functionality because I always have my phone with me whenever I’m out and about. After reading the comments here, I’m glad to know the watch will work in emergencies even without a cellular plan set up. The only time I wished I had cellular set up on my watch was when I left my phone at the Apple Store for repair. I could only send or receive texts on my watch while on WiFi.
I personally love my cellular watch series 5, before that I had the series 3 cellular. I personally, will always get a Apple Watch with cellular to it because on the two or three occasions that I physically didnt have a phone, and I needed one it worked great. Say for example whenever my phone was broken, the gps saved me because for my job (Im a GM of a restaurant) I constantly have to be on the clock, and the watch works perfectly for the time being until I can get a new phone.
I had no idea I could set up a cellular watch on my device for my kid. She’s only two right now but when she starts school I’ll probably give her my series 9 and set up another att line for it. Especially for only ten dollars and she can always contact me that’s awesome
Best part of the watch is that I can leave my phone at home and run off to my 6 mistress’s. My main wife can see that and I’m “home” and not be concerned. While I’ll be 2 cities away at Shiniqua’s place. 😏
That’s one of the main reasons I went with cellular on my AW 7, where not sopposed to have phones at my job, if safety comes around and sees us on our phones we will get written up, and I like to listen to my Apple Music while I’m there, so it makes it perfect, I also don’t like having my phone in my pocket rubbing around all day, at 10 bucks a month on Verizon it’s great
The watch and phone have to be on the same cellular service. Verizon doesn’t force a phone plan with a watch data plan. The phone plan is mandatory, the Watch is an add-on to a phones cellular plan. The technology is not meant to be run on different cellular networks.
I really like the last reason!!! I have a daughter who works late shift in an international company where she needs to stay up for clients overseas. It worries me sick when she drives alone after midnight. I will get the cellular watch for myself and her birthday 🥰. Period.
If there’s WiFi where we go frequently and we forget our phones, as long as the watch has been connected to that WiFi initially with the phone, we’re still connected without our phones. I started both of my kids off with cellular watches. While both of their schools have WiFi, the security system in place can block it out until it’s reconnected through the phone. Our only necessary use so far was on a rainy day when the school shifted the pick up point and my son called me and let me know. I use the Find My to know when to go out to meet him at the bus stop. Thanks for the video though, I purchased an Ultra and now I probably won’t maybe will turn it on. Use case (since I am one of those who cannot take anything into the office) for me is the collusion alert.
I pre-ordered the Apple Watch ultra white ocean band. I am so very excited to have a cellular version Apple Watch as the last Apple Watch I had the cellular was the series 5 and I upgrade my watch every single year and hand down my previous generation watch to a family member same with my iPhone. I’m so very excited for my iPhone 14 Pro Max 256 GB gold to finally arrive at my door. It’s on the truck out for delivery but won’t be here Monday because of the queens, funeral holiday here in Canada.
I ordered the iPhone 14 pro max in gold too! I am debating which watch to get...I am by no means an athlete but the siren option on the ultra just caught my attention. The world can be an unsafe place....the streets of New York are no picnic...for safety....
My Apple Watch SE has cellular on it and it makes me feel more secure when I go to the pool of my condo complex. I don’t want to leave my phone in my pool bag but I still want to be able to reach for help in case of an emergency.
I'm older. My cellphone isn't permanently affixed to me, but I grew up wearing a watch, and have been wearing a fitbit. I often leave it/forget it at home. But I also walk my dog a lot and live alone. So the idea of being able to make a call for help, the crash notification are high on my list as reasons to get it. Then the ability to keep a shopping list, etc., is also useful. Not to mention many places are getting way from directories in favor of apps. An apple watch should be able to give me walking directions.
I find that my cellphone carrier tends to have deals for smart watches from time to time, so it ends up being cheaper or about the same price to just get the cellular version. Best part is that you can just disconnect the service when you don't need to pay for it anymore. I had a cellular series 8. Paid it off, now I'm keeping it as a wifi only watch. Got a cellular series 10, I'll turn off the service when I'm done paying for the watch
MO, I can appreciate what you are saying. Definitely far from necessary for me. I thought I would use it more. Thanks for watching. Hope you are doing well.
I used to think this feature was useless. This feature is not worth it UNTIL you need it. When you have it when you NEED it, you’ll be like oh okay, I see why people get cellular. Same thing with buying insurance for your electronics. Spend a little more for some peace of mind :)
I just bought the Ultra and ended up with cellular. For me I was sometimes leaving my phone at the grocery store…either in the cart or the checkout counter. One time I left the phone in the cart as I had too many thing in my hands. Now with the ultra I don’t take my phone I to the grocery store 😂
how about battery life for the celular? I never had Apple watches, I am wondering how much it affects battery and whether I should get the ultra only for the bigger display and battery? Thanks alot
It makes sense that you can use all the watch's standalone features with the GPS model by simply having yr iPhone nearby. I intend to get the Series 9 for my girlfriend's upcoming birthday and am comparing both. The main reasons for the Cellular is in cases where she often forget to charge her iPhone or she will absent-mindedly leave it in her car. She's also a freelance language tutor (house calls) and had often times not check my messages because she find it improper to have her handphone on the table while teaching one to one. I guess a watch-phone would be more discreet.
The only reason I would leave my phone behind is when I’m running. I don’t want to carry my phone with me, and the Apple Watch cellular sounds like a good alternative.
It really is a good alternative to the phone. Especially for running and exercising. Using it for an hour or two doesn’t kill the battery to quickly and you get away from the phone for a bit.
200% cellular. Trust me, it will come handy in scenarios you can’t even think of. I bought the non cellular thinking I never leave my phone behind, but had to change my mind in 2 months, gave it to mom and got myself the Ultra
Absolutely on point bro all the good reasons for paying a little extra on cellular apple watch. I'm a person in a wheelchair n it's so convenient for me especially when I'm out n about I don't need to pull out my iPhone for basic usages like receiving/making calls or checking any important mails/texts or replying back, all that can be done from my apple watch cellular, even the gps comes handy just in case if you get lost 😄. I love it. Great video with valid reasons for having a cellular apple watch. It does give you a peace of mind to know you have that extra security n Safety.
Me as a forgetful person a cellular Apple Watch has helped me a lot especially since I can leave my iPhone at home and not have to worry about forgetting it somewhere else so yeah a cellular plan is really great.
Found your video while researching cellular Apple Watches. I had the first gen SE 40mm gps and had difficulty with it especially when at the gym and needed connection to my phone for important work calls/texts or when running and the armband constantly came undone. Wal-Mart had a deal for the Series 8 41mm for $299 and Verizon gave me a deal with crediting me back the $35 activation charge AND told me it was $7.50 a month vs. $10 a month. It was a no brainer to get cellular. So thank you for this video! Also, like you said, piece of mind is nice to have too.
You have to get a watch plan if your carrier supports it. That sim is paired with your phones number. If you are away from your phone, your watch rings.
I will be getting the Ultra and activating cellular on it. I’m really hoping the Sirius app works on the watch. I stream it at work. If so, I’ll just leave my phone at home
@@CraigsTechTalk I get a commercial free Pandora account because I have the SiriusXM app on my iPhone. 🤔 I’ll have to figure out how to funnel that Pandora account over to my Ultra when I get it. I have a dozen “channels” set up of music that I enjoy.
Had to pick up my uncle from the airport and my phone died, spent 30mins driving the terminals looking for him. Next day i went and ordered the Series10 apple watch with cellular in case of emergencies like the one I had.
Ive just ordered an Apple Watch SE I went with just the standard GPS only model, since i am on Pay as you go with my phone, which in the country where i live, means that i have to use a physical SIM in my phone, eSims are only available on contract, and even then, not all carriers offer them And there are only 3 carriers that support the Apple Watch, my pay as you go SIM is with one of those carriers, but again, pay as you go, so no apple watch plan for me Also, in the country where i live, the emergency calling feature requires a cellular plan to function when the iPhone is not nearby
Yes! You can turn the LTE signal on or off as you please. You don't have to have the watch line either. I think it's worth it to get the LTE. If it's not for you, you can cut the line and it'll be the same as the Bluetooth version
I own a Series 7 with GPS only but decided to upgrade to the Series 9 with cellular as an extra layer of protection. If I’m out and about and lose my phone or, worse, get it stolen, I can use my Apple Watch independently to track my phone or call the Police.
For me…we were just about to switch to Visible when their plans changed. Was going to cost me $40 more a month. I didn’t want to take the jump to cellular. So we are passing.
Apple watch with cellular is only $5 with Visible. I just added my new Apple watch 7 to my plan. Actually, it was a seamless activation all through their website.
Timely video, Craig. As with other Apple hardware "upgrades" you have to decide up front if you'll possibly have a need/desire during the time you own it. If you don't spring for it initially, you can't change your mind later. For $100, even if you decide not to activate it right away, it's a good option to have...for me, anyway. I have it and am glad I do.
Thank you Hugh. I figured it was decision time for some folks. You make a good point about that having to decide upfront. Especially with the SE, I would go for that cellular since it is $50. I think its a great backup. Even if you don't activate it, you have emergency service with that cellular. Thanks for sharing and watching Hugh. Hope you are doing well.
Hi Craig, first of all I really appreciate your content. So up till the end of August this year I umm and ahhed over whether I should get a Cellular Apple Watch. I had an Apple Watch SE on Wi-Fi and always had to have my iPhone with me, however I spoke to my phone carrier (EE) and I took the plunge and went for the Apple Watch 9 on Cellular… and I’m so so happy with it. Being a person who has a physical disability which affects my mobility I felt that having a cellular AW has enhanced my experience as now I know if I have a fall, or if my car breaks down or any other emergency occurs then I can fully utilise my Cellular AW9 and still make calls if I do leave my iPhone at home. It’s not costing me any too significantly extra on my monthly phone plan and when I upgrade again to the AW10 in satin black I’ll keep to the cellular one and I’d recommend it to anyone.
I am legally blind, so I use my watch to ping my phone to find it, many times I walk away from my phone and it rains, and I could just answer on my watch without tripping over things trying to get to the phone. Is also great when I go out for a walk I don’t have to worry about somebody still in my phone. I could just look quickly at my watch if needed. white cane. Great video you did. I.
I can see how cellular and the watch overall could be so helpful. My wife using the pinging the phone all the time. Thank you very much. I appreciate you watching and for sharing your experience.
I get my Apple Watch’s with my phone plan. I’ve accidentally left my phone at home and the watch saved the day when my mom had a fall and had to go to the hospital
I love the first reason, but I cannot get a prepaid service for the watch that is able to clone the line so I have the same number on my watch, the cheapest postpaid is more than double and I do not really need it ! I bought the watch with then only intention of having some distance with the phone but I´ll have to wait until I can afford postpaid plans
I’ve had cellular since the AW 3. It is useful on occasion. I often leave cell off for battery. It is peace of mind. Look forward to ultra for more battery. Too bad I am not a Garmin guy. WHY is Apple not using solar on these watches? We have seen solar on watches and calculators for decades.
Hello, it is a great backup. That is good to mention you can keep it off for battery life. I am curious about the longer battery life too. It is odd there is no solar. I do wonder if there is a problem with power switching between battery and charging. I am not familiar with the watches like Garmin. Thanks for watching.
I also feel like ultra is fast enough to feel like a full independent platform to finally utilize cellular. I only pay 10 for cellular which is the max anyone should pay
My two main reasons for buying an Apple watch are first, I'm terrible about not having my phone with me, and two, which is related, I want to be able to call emergency services if I fall or have a medical emergency.
Could you tell me the carrier you are with ? EE , Vodafone , O2 ? Also is the mobile number of the watch the same as the number on the iPhone ? Thank you
@@bengoey I got this deal with Vodafone, as part of the contract I’m on the smartwatch plan is half price (usually £7), the number is the same as my phone number yes
@@garethjones5068 Thank you very much for your help as i have decided now to have cellular connection activated on my Apple Watch. I am with EE and several times I went to an EE Shop and asked about having cellular connection on my iWatch ,they didn't seem to know how much extra cellular connection would cost.
Another reason is if you are user of both iPhone and Android and switch at time intervals between two and want to save money on buying another platform's smartwatch. Then you can carry AW when you only have Android on you or Samsung Watch when you carry iPhone.
Great video. I have been in LE for almost 30 years but have a 16 year old daughter. I have had every Apple Watch since the original and used to only buy GPS only but years ago went cellular and no returning. As you said it comes down to the security or emergency situations. Would rather have that versus a dinner or whatever the difference would buy me. Thanks
About 6 months or so ago I got an Apple Watch series 7 with cellular and when I got to the gym I only wear my watch and take my AirPods, it really helps me to disconnect from my work and not worry about what is happening at work doing which was especially difficult for me since I go to gym in the afternoon in the middle of my work day and all of my team works from home so WhatsApp has been very important for us
Very cool. That is great it helps you get away from work but stay in touch. That is a good use and makes so much sense to get. Thanks for watching and sharing.
The biggest reason for me to have cellular is for working out, riding my bike, or even walking my dog. Having the bulky phone is annoying. I don’t mind shelling out an extra $100 bucks, but then the plans start at $10 and with taxes, it’s almost an extra $10 making it $20. That’s a lot for a watch plan.
IMHO the part of not taking out the phone due to valid security concerns can be also managed with a non cellular smart watch since it uses Bluetooth for sending everything, even then, seeing how you are talking to the watch is also dangerous For those cases I suggest a Smart Band that allows some quick SMS responses (again, all is done via Bluetooth connection) so that people knows you are unable to answer but you are fine and going to call later. As for phone battery dying, buy a small power bank for those scenarios, no need for a cellular watch either. I do agree with the rest of the scenarios though (to a certain extent at least)
Just dropped my cellular. Lots of glitches. Adding Bluetooth hearing aids into the mix made it worse. Pick up a call on my aids, or on the phone itself and the watch, with it’s separate number, would keep ringing on my wrist for another 20 seconds and then display a message that the call had failed. The whole time, the person on the other end of the line could hear my watch continuing to ring in the background. This continues to occur, even after turning off cellular! Seems the cellular system in the watch still triggers even with cellular disconnected. Even in the presence of my phone, if I tried to answer a call by tapping the watch, the watch would pick up the call and force me to try to hear and talk on the watch, which is an annoying experience at best. Apple’s software interface could definitely use some tweaking!
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed the video. My apologies If I forgot to mention it. Typically your phone carrier will charge $10-$15 a month for cellular.
How do you connect your number to a cellular apple watch so you can leave the phone at home? For instance if you are just going to the store real quick, or for a walk and don't want to take the phone. Is it difficult or do you need a additional cellular plan?
It is automatically connected with your phones number. Both will ring if they are separated. You do need the $10-20 watch cellular plan most carriers offer. When you sign up for your Apple Watch plan, your carrier pairs it with your phones number.
I picked up the Apple Watch Ultra 2 through my cell carrier with the cellular plan for my apple watch since with my job I can’t physically have my iPhone on me while out in the field so the watch with cellular data is super helpful
My wife and I are considering an SE with LTE for our daughter. she's about to be 9. I'm wondering if that's about the age of your girls or not. We're finally comfortable leaving her home for an hour or so if we're nearby like at the grocery store or the gym and we have a couple of great neighbors that she knows she can run to their house if there is any kind of an emergency and are also approaching it from the tracking perspective of when we're out in large public gatherings like festivals at our local park where hundreds or thousands of people could be. We have an air tag wrist band for her but most of the time that doesn't work at all and is pretty much useless. Some of her friends have other non-apple smart watch type things to make calls but lack the tracking ability you'd find in an apple watch and paranoid dad brain is pushing me to spend more for just that feature alone if nothing else.
I have series 6 Cellular it’s my first Apple Watch I love it I will always get cellular Apple Watch especially going to the gym I can leave my phone home.
I just took a new job where the employer will provide a phone. I'm averse to carrying two phones, so I was thinking of going cellular AW connected to my personal phone in lieu of carrying both around. What are your thoughts on that? Is it a reasonable expectation to use AW to minimize the bulk of 2 phones?
I love this video I just got my Apple Watch today and I loved hearing this video makes you really think about it based on real life stuff that could happen

I bought the S7 GPS only last year on release day. But I felt the new safety features and going cellular was worth an upgrade. Purchased the S8 cellular on my lunch Friday; got back to work and sold my S7 to my coworker. The peace of mine I feel is definitely worth it to me.
Secure as WLM
Bob being sarcastic
Thanks for the info. I plan on getting one for my elderly mother who is prone to falling and tends to forget taking her phone with her from time to time. She never forgets her watch though so I figure this one would be a good bet to go with.
A cellular Apple watch is definitely a must upgrade for most even if not supported by your cellular plan because of emergency feature only available on the cellular Apple watch, and the convenience of leaving your phone behind is also an appreciated advantage if your plan supports it, but as a I always say I recommend the cellular Apple watch because of emergency feature alone.
What is the emergency feature? I’m going to get the new SE just not sure if I should go with cellular or non cellular
You can call 911 even with no e sim connected
I think that is good advice. It is nice to have that emergency or safety features. Thanks for watching and sharing.
Inzomed, if you don't have your phone connected, you could use call detection to still all for help.
GeckoGospel, thank you for answering.
You can turn the cellular connection off and only turn it on when needed. It doesn't have to stay on all the time.
You don’t need a cellular plan for an Apple Watch with cellular to call 911… in an emergency. BOOM! Worth it.
Thank you for mentioning this. It is great to have as a backup.
I hope it is helpful for you. It has been nice for hiking and leaving the phone in the car. Being able to take calls through the HomePods is great.
That is so good you had cellular. Glad to hear it was there for you. I would definitely keep cellular after that. Thanks for watching.
Could still make the call without cellular. Your phone is right next to you in the car lol
I got the series 8 cellular version primarily to stream my music on my walks without needing my phone for a potential emergency .
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is nice to know you have the cellular back up for Emergencies.
Wow
😂😂😂😂😂
My man that is brilliant
The way my jaw fell open😂😂
😂😂😂😂
If my iPhone for example have like mint mobile, can I get a AT&T plan for my Apple Watch?
It has to be the same carrier as the phone.
That’s one of the main reasons I went with cellular on my AW 7, where not sopposed to have phones at my job, if safety comes around and sees us on our phones we will get written up, and I like to listen to my Apple Music while I’m there, so it makes it perfect, I also don’t like having my phone in my pocket rubbing around all day, at 10 bucks a month on Verizon it’s great
Hello, thanks for sharing your use. It is good to hear. It definitely makes sense to get one. I like that you are using it for streaming music.
Does Verizon force you to also have a phone with them to have a watch data plan?
That is a great use and glad to hear it has help you feel more secure. Thanks for watching and sharing.
I personally don’t think it’s necessary. In my case I do a 3 point check wallets keys phone lol
Thank you Devin for sharing your thoughts. I totally agree. When it comes in handy, your opinion quickly changes. Thanks for watching.
I left my iPhone at home and went to the gym. Worked out great. I love it when I’m not near my iPhone and I can answer a phone call and/or text
That is great. I am glad to hear it has been worth it for you. Thanks for watching.
200% cellular. Trust me, it will come handy in scenarios you can’t even think of. I bought the non cellular thinking I never leave my phone behind, but had to change my mind in 2 months, gave it to mom and got myself the Ultra
I am with you on. Glad to hear it has been worth it for you. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I just went through a domestic violence situation so I’m really considering getting the cellular option now
I am sorry to hear that. Definitely get cellular if it will help you. Thank you for watching. Stay safe.
Got the ultra with cellular. My Apple Watch ever. Excited, Can’t wait! Won’t arrive until sometime in October
Me as a forgetful person a cellular Apple Watch has helped me a lot especially since I can leave my iPhone at home and not have to worry about forgetting it somewhere else so yeah a cellular plan is really great.
That is great to Joan. It makes sense if you sometimes leave the phone at home. Thanks for sharing.
If we’re buying cellular AW then we have 2 buy another sim plan for AW or not ?
You have to get a watch plan if your carrier supports it. That sim is paired with your phones number. If you are away from your phone, your watch rings.
Update on 17th August 2023 - I’ve just found that Audible does indeed work with Apple Watches👌🏼thanks for all this info👍🏻
That is great that you are able to use Audible. It is nice to hot have to sync anymore. Thank you for watching.
I will be getting the Ultra and activating cellular on it. I’m really hoping the Sirius app works on the watch. I stream it at work. If so, I’ll just leave my phone at home
Unfortunately, everything I am seeing is saying there is no Sirius App. I hope there is one and it works for you.
Ive just ordered an Apple Watch SE
I went with just the standard GPS only model, since i am on Pay as you go with my phone, which in the country where i live, means that i have to use a physical SIM in my phone, eSims are only available on contract, and even then, not all carriers offer them
And there are only 3 carriers that support the Apple Watch, my pay as you go SIM is with one of those carriers, but again, pay as you go, so no apple watch plan for me
Also, in the country where i live, the emergency calling feature requires a cellular plan to function when the iPhone is not nearby
If you get cellular can you just use WiFi instead and it’ll still work when connected to iPhone ?
Yes! You can turn the LTE signal on or off as you please. You don't have to have the watch line either. I think it's worth it to get the LTE. If it's not for you, you can cut the line and it'll be the same as the Bluetooth version
Thank you Craig! This helps me a lot. I am to get a cellular Apple Watch. Your video made it worth it for me to get one.
Can you use the apple ultra without a cellular plan?
No
You don’t need to activate the cellular. It comes with it and will use it for emergencies without a plan.
I own a Series 7 with GPS only but decided to upgrade to the Series 9 with cellular as an extra layer of protection.
If I’m out and about and lose my phone or, worse, get it stolen, I can use my Apple Watch independently to track my phone or call the Police.
This video really opened my mind up to a lot. I usually do gps but now that I think about it a lot of things you said makes perfect sense.
AW Ultra with cellular 10/10
For me…we were just about to switch to Visible when their plans changed. Was going to cost me $40 more a month. I didn’t want to take the jump to cellular. So we are passing.
Apple watch with cellular is only $5 with Visible. I just added my new Apple watch 7 to my plan. Actually, it was a seamless activation all through their website.
Totally hear you on the parenting front! Thank you for the great video!
Thank you. I am glad that you enjoyed it. It's great kid safety insurance. Thank you for watching.
Those sound like 2 great reasons to have a cellular Apple Watch. It is a great backup option.
I only pay £3.50 a month for my cellular plan for my watch, for that much it’s worth it for the ‘just in case’ peace of mind
That is a great price. I wish mine was that low. Hope you are doing well.
Do you have to have a separate cellular plan for each phone or any of the phones?
The biggest reason for me to have cellular is for working out, riding my bike, or even walking my dog. Having the bulky phone is annoying. I don’t mind shelling out an extra $100 bucks, but then the plans start at $10 and with taxes, it’s almost an extra $10 making it $20. That’s a lot for a watch plan.
IMHO the part of not taking out the phone due to valid security concerns can be also managed with a non cellular smart watch since it uses Bluetooth for sending everything, even then, seeing how you are talking to the watch is also dangerous
For those cases I suggest a Smart Band that allows some quick SMS responses (again, all is done via Bluetooth connection) so that people knows you are unable to answer but you are fine and going to call later.
As for phone battery dying, buy a small power bank for those scenarios, no need for a cellular watch either.
I do agree with the rest of the scenarios though (to a certain extent at least)
These are the reasons I have the ultra 2 with cellular with the on i do and the way I work having cellular data on my watch is invaluable
Glad to hear you are liking having cellular. I can’t go back to not having it. Thanks for watching.
I just want one for using long range and obviously we need something in case we lose our phones or forget to bring them so that’s cellular
Thank you for this video. It convinced me to upgrade to a cellar AW.
Hey can you tell me, does apple watch ultra usa version works in Australia? For example vodafone?
I would have no way of knowing. I would think that Apple has it unlocked to work internationally. I would double check
Does the watch have the same signal strength as the phone?
Enjoy all your videos but I didn’t notice if you mentioned that you will have a monthly fee for the service. But great video
I’ve had the cellular Apple Watch s9 since its release coming from a SE on WiFi only it has definitely come in handy
I am glad to hear it has come in handy. It would be a bummer to pay the extra and not find the value. Thanks for sharing and watching.
I think the family sharing thing with the watch is a great idea for children. Besides that I don’t really see the justification for the price.
I picked up the Apple Watch Ultra 2 through my cell carrier with the cellular plan for my apple watch since with my job I can’t physically have my iPhone on me while out in the field so the watch with cellular data is super helpful
That is great you are finding it helpful. The ultra is a great option to use while working. It is so durable. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hello I was wondering if cellular Apple Watch can last 18hr with light use and sending 6 texts along with making a 4 minute phone call
Visible by Verizon has a $5 per month Apple Watch add-on.
That is a great deal
Do we need to pay monthly to use the cellular service?
Yes with most carriers. Usually between $10-15 a month.
So I have Unlimited 5G but even then I have to pay extra 10-15 a month right? Thank you for your time❤
My wife and I are considering an SE with LTE for our daughter. she's about to be 9.
If I gave my phone to my parents and they moved far away, can I still get calls on the watch and alarm and other notifications?
Is there what’s App possible ? Anyway I bought a Ultra ❤
It is possible. I have not used it, but here is an article on it. www.androidauthority.com/whatsapp-apple-watch-3081655/
@@CraigsTechTalk super thanks to you
I have series 6 Cellular it’s my first Apple Watch I love it I will always get cellular Apple Watch especially going to the gym I can leave my phone home.
Thank you very much. I really wanted to bring the practical reason to get one, more than the features of cellular. Thanks for watching.
