    • @parkside4623
      @parkside4623 Год назад +6

      The word “underrated” seems to be used very easily in the NBA. He is in the Hall of Fame, multiple time Allstar, voted one of the top 50 NBA players to ever play the game, back to back NBA champ and Jordan said he believe Isiah is the 2nd best point guard to ever play next to Magic Johnson. That is an extremely high rating. I’m just wondering what else would anyone feels that he is missing. Hakeem’s resume is very similar to Isiah’s and he is extremely highly respected by NBA players of all generations plus Hakeem was voted MVP of the entire league and MVP of the Finals more than once. There really isn’t much higher of a rating to achieve in the NBA. Between the two, they checked almost all of the boxes in the sport.

      ISIAH THOMAS IS THE MOST OR SECOND-MOST DISRESPECTED NBA PLAYER AND MAYBE AMERICAN ATHLETES EVER, HE SHOULD BE TOP 10 AND HERE'S WHY:
      Without having another megastar that could get 25-30 on a contending team (Mark Aguirre was balling in Dallas but they went no where but the conf finals once out of 8 seasons), he led the Pistons to 3 straight finals and 2 straight championships in the 80s in an era where no flukes happened- you had to be exceptionally great to make the finals and sometimes even the Conference Finals, even the runners up for the league and conferences are historic footnotes ('80/82 Sixers, '86 Rockets, '88 Mavs)....
      *If it wasn't for one of the smallest mistakes by a team in league history ('87 Conf Finals, Game 5), the Pistons would've made 4 consecutive finals!!!!
      *Isiah had- maybe- the greatest individual performance in Finals history- injured with a very critical basketball injury, he scored 41 and 25 of those were in the 3rd qtr IN THE FINALS AND ON THE ROAD AGAINST A SUPERTEAM-DYNASTY.... that game was decided by an end-of-game, ill-advised and late whistle that clearly shows Laimbeer making no contact with Kareem, and LA won by 1 point- had it not been for that call, that would've been the closeout game for that series and the Pistons would be a historical 3-peat dynasty
      *No one can say what Isiah has done in 1988, and that is legitimately beat 3 top 10-35 Hall of Famers while still at current MVP-level calibers of play.... if jordan truly is your goat, then he beat THE GOAT on a good and solid team, he beat Larry Bird, then he beat Magic (and Kareem in his second to last year, and lets not forget James Worthy was the 1988 Finals MVP)
      *Folks always prop up jordan for playing in the 90s when the 90s were softened and toned down from the 70s and 80s, but Isiah worked his way through ranks all throughout the 80s where dynasties and superteams existed- after all the smash-mouth contact in the 70s and 80s from other teams, the league instituted the Flagrant Foul in 1990 after jordan went public to complain about not being able to beat the Pistons bcus of their style of playing- the Lakers, Celtics, and Sixers all have several highlights of beating up other teams, getting beat up, and fist-fights that do not include the 80s Pistons.... so for Isiah to claim his stake in this era and to be undersized when basketball was still dominated by the big man and big players (and the 3pt line was a negligent factor for most of the decade), yeah I'm giving Isiah his RECOGNITION bcus no little man except Jerry West and AI was able to reach such heights- even in today's game (Kyrie can ball out his mind, can't get to the Conf Finals without LeBron and even with stacked teams, and Curry was finally exposed in the 2019 Finals and the Warriors were still a superteam without KD)
      Too bad he suffered 3 major injuries that shortened his career, too bad his team was prematurely broken up, too bad his teammates went through injuries and so many personal problems, and TOO BAD THE LEAGUE CHANGED RULES IN ORDER TO MARKET ONE PLAYER AND PLEASE HIM BY PUTTING A N1PP!_E IN HIS MOUTH!!!!

One of our buddies said “hey, Isiah Thomas is on Central Ave. right now sitting on the porch with his momma.” We all dropped everything and walked right over to her house.
    Isiah was sitting on the porch wearing a gray T-Shirt and some jeans sitting on a chair next to his mother. He had the brightest smile on his face that he is known for keeping. He let all of us walk through the front gate up to the porch one by one to shake his hand. We told him that we had a full court of B-ball going on in the alley and he should come and join us for a game. He just laughed and pointed to his mother and said “sorry, y’all, she got me on a punishment.” We all bust out laughing and went on our way. It is one of my most favorite memories from childhood. Isiah was smiling the whole time.

    This is an example of why in Detroit and the surrounding area…matter of fact EVERYWHERE in Michigan disrespect for Isiah can’t and won’t be tolerated. Even during his hard times as an executive in the CBA and in NY as a Coach and GM and also as a Coach for the Pacers….we rocked with and defended him even from those in his hometown of Chicago who shunned him for Jordan.
    Isiah will ALWAYS be our guy for ever and ever and is the sole reason that to this day Jordan or his shoes still aren’t universally embraced like he and his brand is everywhere else.

      @@hootie297 By 89 the injuries caught up and Bird was done by this point. These teams battled ferociously before Jordan entered the leauge. They Kareem, Dr.J, Bird so many others punched and aged themselves out. It wss not until after the wreckage of the 80s Jordan began to win. Note: Jordan won in the 90s against a new generation. He struggled against the legends.

    Great episode! Didn’t know IT was into THC/CBD/Hemp like THAT!
    One correction (to S-Jax) KG not from Chicago he’s from South Carolina and played his whole life there until senior year of HS. He was huge in Chi his senior year with Ronnie Fields at Farragut, but he can’t count as “from chi town” when he moved there right before senior year of HS.
    Also best Celtics team was 85-86 to 86-87 but Isiah and Pistons beating them when they were all MVP is true/fire!
    Chi town still has a lot of hoopers! Mom and her side of Fam from Chi and dad from Indiana. Per capita Indiana has great hoopers too (Larry Bird & Big AO both of top5-15 GOAT, George McGinnis, Shawn Kemp, Zach Randolph, Mike Conley, Big Dog Glen Robinson, Darius Garland, Desmond Bane, Gordon Hayward, Eric Gordon, Greg Oden, George Hill, Mike Woodson, Gary Harris, Van Arsdale Twins, Calbert Cheney, Scott Skiles, Jaden Ivey, Jeff Teague, Junior Bridgman, Bonzi Wells, Dick Barnet, Brad Miller, Courtney Lee, Clyde Lovellette etc etc

    The fact that they got 2 parts with Zeke Thomas is well deserved and earned once again I met him a few weeks ago and I gave him his flowers 💐 and let him know that the real ones fuck with you I told him the only signing I had a problem with was Jerome James other than that. You drafted very well and made some great trades. You really tried to do a lot for the Knicks and the liberty 🗽 as well with bringing Bill to coach, and it's damn shame he isn't coaching in the NBA. I'm glad people are finally seeing Jordan the person and not Jordan the player and trust I'm a Jordan fan die hard, but he was an asshole as a person you seen it in the last dance and I'm glad every podcast is speaking on how Isiah Zeke Thomas deserved to be on Dream Team 1 yea Magic may have not spoken up and chuck Daly may have not spoken up but Jordan could have easily said I'm not being on Dream Team if Zeke Thomas isn't on I'm pretty sure everyone would have said okay yea he could be on. Like Scottie Pippen thinks someone cares about his opinion. Zeke was a way better player than you were you just mad because the media don't give you the credit as being on the same level with Michael Jordan your not soon as Jordan left you only made it to the 2nd round and before he came back you was on the verve of missing the playoffs
