- The ANC NEC has committed to pursue the formation of a government of national unity.
The decision was revealed by party President Cyril Ramaphosa last night following
a marathon meeting in Boksburg yesterday. The party's highest decision-making body met to chart a way forward after the organisation failed to secure a majority vote after last week's election.

Reading the replies to this interview shows how uneducated, or perhaps ignorant, some people can be. And this is your own fault, individually. This is a straight forward approach and reply by the interviewer and interviewee . I may not have agreed with everything Collen has said before, but he most certainly is direct. I'd much rather work with a direct person who doesn't beat around the bush. In this election, no party, no faction, no tribe, no race, has won, but did we lose? No. We are where we are, not just because of politicians, but because many South Africans refuse not only to acknowledge (speaking to some of the responders here), but accept, the basic structures and society we live in. As it stands, interviews are interviews and we can either decide to break the backs of these people, making decisions on our behalf, or hold them accountable to make decisions that support each and every individual of this country, irrespective of where we all come from. As Morgan Freeman once said (search for it), "man, the bus runs every day"!! Make the decision to join society and we build together, or continue with your rhetorical keyboard strokes and complain until you are called to arms in a national civil war. What nonesence. None of us had forefathers who in their own right, didn't fight for their own families and people. How they did it, cool, judge away, but come on, it's been 30-years and we're still having the same argument. Change does not come from politicians, it comes from people. Understanding the way forward, is to include everyone's perspective. This requires you to apply your mind and listen. Conversation is not started when you listen to reply, but when you listen to understand, acknowledge and reply with interest. Otherwise you're just talking, tweeting, moaning and being disruptive. This decision came after his plan to position John as deputy was exposed, indicating his preference for an ANC-DA coalition over an ANC-MK-EFF coalition. While many ANC members favor an ANC-MK-EFF coalition, Ramaphosa and influential groups in Stellenbosch support an ANC-DA coalition, which would position John as the next president.
By announcing the GNU, the Democratic Alliance (DA) will be part of the government, reflecting Stellenbosch's lack of trust in an ANC-MK-EFF government without DA involvement. They prefer the DA to be integrated into the coalition. It is imperative for the ANC to remove Ramaphosa before it’s too late; his actions threaten to leave us in further disarray. While a GNU was understandable in 1994, it is not appropriate in the current context. It appears that Ramaphosa and Stellenbosch had a Plan B-creating a GNU-as a fallback if the ANC-DA coalition plan failed. This maneuver is a profound betrayal.
