Why would Ubisoft think it was a good idea to use a black African person as the main character in the game that has Japanese historical setting...😶

Yeah 100s of other people to choose from... Such a questionable choice.

Blatant racism against Asian men. We like you country, culture, warrior spirit, even your women, but not you. Unfortunately a very common trope we see with western creators/studios when it comes to telling Asian stories.

Let me clarify here. Yasuke did exist but he absolutely was not a samurai. He was a slave purchased by a Japanese Daimyō Oda Nobunaga. He served as a retainer and/or weapon bearer. He was paraded around Japan as a curiosity since not many Japanese had seen an African before. He was once dressed up in samurai armor as a joke. The Japanese historian claiming that he was a samurai is a liar and has been denounced by other historians. Yasuke wasn't a samurai, he wasn't even a soldier, he was effectively a clown. He was something to be pointed and laughed at.
And yes, it is a problem that the main character is black. It's incredibly racist and culturally insensitive to put a non-Japanese person in samurai armor. They have effectively turned this game into a black on Asian violence simulator wherein the black character appropriates their most sacred title, weapons and armor, then proceeds to enact a genocide against the Japanese people. When a Japanese person sees that the only thing they can feel is outrage. They know this game was not made for love and passion, but greed and hatred. The message of this game to the Japanese people cannot be more clear. "We will degrade your culture, we will kill you, dance on your grave, and then we will replace you, in the name of diversity." That is the message Ubisoft has given to Japan.
AS IF this wasn't already inexcusably racist already they released a some figurine funko pop style things, and included is a one-legged Torii gate. The one legged Torii gate is a symbol of Hiroshima / Nagasaki. TO BE CLEAR: THEY USED THE ATOMIC BOMBING OF HIROSHIMA AND NAKASAKI TO PROMOTE THIER NEW BLACK ON ASIAN VIOLENCE SIMULATOR

Thank you very much for your comment! I totally forgot to mention the torii, which is indeed insanely disrespectful and ignorant of Ubisoft to use that.
