Great video! It was me who told you to pick up Disillusion in the metal tag. It was first recorded with Japanese vocals, but they rerecorded the vocals in english before releasing it in other countries. Great episode! I’m still trying to rebuild my music collection, so I’d probably be no help at all. Hahaha. CHAOS A.D. was my introduction to Sepultura, so I do have a little nostalgic soft spot for it. That being said, after venturing backwards into their previous albums, it has become a lot less valuable to me than it was in the 90s. I would say definitely grab the first two albums, but at least listen to CHAOS A.D. once before buying it back to see if you still want it again.

My recommandations would be Wings of Steel ( heavy Queensryche), Fifth Angel, Nevermore, Candlemass (live in Stockholm!). Loudness is a great band, their first albums sounds a little bit like Rush! Disillusion is their best for me. That lady from Warlock is so overrated but I like the first album. Greeting from Holland!
Hey Darcy! Just some advice and opinions. Asphyx: Absolutely get their first two albums! Both are doom-death classics Doro: Honestly, I only love Warlock. Force Majeure is the closest solo album that I like by her. Artillery: Definitely get the album "Fear of Tomorrow" Sepultura: I'm in the same boat as you. The Max era is a must. Definitely go get Chaos A.D. and Schizophrenia. My favorite Sepultura album is Morbid Visions, but you have to understand that its pretty rough and extreme, so try it. Brainstorm: I'm only somewhat familiar with them. Need to listen to more. Loudness: I like every Loudness album up to "On the Prowl". For sure pick up The Birthday Eve, The Law of Devil's Land and Disillusion. There are two versions of Disillusion. The english version or the Japanese version. Both are fine. I also recommend the Jealousy EP. Hope this helps a little.
Up to "Arise" for Sepultura. It's all downhill, from there. If you're into nu-metal/mallcore/bro metal, then you may like some of it. Personally, I think the band very much betrayed their core fans.
Half of Chaos A.D. is really good, that one will make its way back into the collection, but after that I don’t know! And I’m definitely not a Nu-Metal fan. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Oh,one more thing about Doro. As I said, her stuff after Force Majeure is pretty skippable but there is one very good live album called simply DORO LIVE /1993/ . This one is worth having.
Sepultura get “schizophrenia”, “chaos ad” and “roots”. Also the later era Derrick Green albums are really good. I learned to really enjoy the later Sepultura albums. Do you listen to Max Cavalera’s other bands at all? (Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulfly). Also listen to the Nailbomb album if you haven’t.
I have every single Sepultura release, an all time favorite band. Against was a system shock at first but I grew to love the post Max era. They always tried new things and I like that. I'm glad they're breaking up though. They're going out on a high note. Too many bands don't know when it's time to stop. I'd recommend Schizophrenia. It's part of that thrash trilogy. Max and Igorr just re-recorded it under the Cavalera name. I'm a diehard completionist, but I don't think I need anymore Metal Church. I have the Mike Howe and first 2 David Wayne, and I'm good with that. I just started collecting Blitzkrieg, just bought the new box set that they recently released. I'll probably get them all eventually. Same with Cannibal Corpse, I have the first 9 albums, not sure if I'll get all of them. I've called it quits on Exodus, Testament, Overkill, Megadeth, and Death Angel. I don't get in a thrash mood often and when I do I'm nostalgic for 80s thrash. I know Judas Priest are still making great albums, but it doesn't feel right without Glenn and K.K. I'm having a hard time with Maiden without Nikko too.
It is a tough call on when to call it quits on bands, some I have no problem letting go & some I’ll never let go! I’ll be check Schizophrenia this coming week. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Greg
The re-recordings of Morbid Visions, Bestial Devastation and Schizophrenia by Cavalera are well worth picking up. Very true to the originals, still brutal, but the improved production makes it a better listen
I’ll definitely check them out, but I’ll try the originals first. Thanks as always for taking the time to hang out with me 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
I passed on Shizophrenia because I was fine with the original. A lot of modern albums are too over produced to me. I hated the new Troops of Doom. The re-recording they did in 1990 of Troops of Doom is the best version.
Brainstorm is a really good band and if you like the vocalist, Andy B. Franck check out the band Symphorce. He sang in that band as well. They put out 7 albums while he was in Brainstorm. They are up there in quality like Brainstorm.
Hey Darcy I have a few of the Derek Green sepultura albums and personally I think their solid but lot of people don't give them the time of day because it can't be sepultura without max! machine messia is one to check out from the latter years my friend
Hey Darcy. Great video man. With Sepultura - I’d suggest going back to Schizophrenia (especially being a trash guy) and also go forward with Quadra for a taste of Derrick Green. Take care
Did you get Max's re-recording of Schizophrenia under Cavalera? I got the first 2 albums he re-recorded because I was never a fan of those first 2 albums, but I was always happy how Schizophrenia sounded, so I passed.
Asphyx-honestly,every album by them is worth having. You see the band's name- you buy it! Btw, are you familiar with God Dethroned? If you like Asphyx you should also like God Dethroned. I recommend their ""Ravenous"" album. Brilliant.
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Keep up the good work my friend. Greetings from Nicosia in Cyprus. Metal fan since late 80s here as well. I very much enjoy your videos.
ARTILLERY-Please,please,check out Fear Of Tomorrow again. A dark cross between thrash and proto-death metal. This album introduced me into metal. As far as their new stuff goes, their album ""Legions"" is pretty good. A new vocalist,a new energy. Their ""My Blood"" album is also not bad.
Personally I'm not a "completist" and I just buy those albums in which I'm interested in! With some bands I'm just interested in a specific time era and that's the case of Loudness! I just own the same albums that you have and my personal favorite is Hurricane Eyes! "On the prowl" is still a great album though! But after that I'm not interested in the rest of their catalogue.
I definitely need to pick up a copy of On The Prowl, I bet you those recorded songs sound awesome! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
I love Sepultura but not fake Sepultura. It’s not Sepultura without the Cavaleras. Sorry not sorry! Not only that but it’s nowhere near as good. If I was gonna say which album to get of theirs, after the Cavaleras left? Probably def say Kairos. I’d just make sure I had all the Sepultura, before Cavalera left. Def check out the remakes/remasters of those first 2! Nice vid!
I don't own any Sepultura. Force Majeur, great album, the last Doro is a heavy album. Can't go wrong with any Artillery albums. They released a live album last year. I have like 5 Loudness albums. From Liquid Monster travel backwards all excellent albums. 1st 2 Brainstorms different vocalist.
You should check out Schizophrenia from Sepultura. Dont think you would like anything past Chaos a.d. I only have two Asphyx albums. Last one on earth from 92 and Incoming Death from 2016. Artillery's come back album in 2009, When Death Comes is bad ass! My Blood from 2011 is a banger too. I have all their albums from 09 on, and all good. Im not big on Loudness. Never heard of Brainstorm before, so ill check them out. Hope all is well with you and yours Darcy.
@@boscocfh I will check out Schizophrenia this coming week. The newer Asphyx albums are awesome, Incoming Death is one of my favourites. Everything is good here, thanks for asking 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Sepultura - Besides the two you have - Schizophrenia, Chaos A.D , Roots, Against, Nation, Roorback, Dante, Kairos, Mediator, Machine Messiah and Quadra are all essential in my opinion. Morbid Visions and A-lex, not so much Doro - Don't bother. She moves farther and farther away from metal with every solo album Artillery - First three are bangers. Newer stuff is pretty by the numbers Thrash.still good but not pushing any boundaries. Asphyx and Loudness are bands I'm not very familiar with
I had a hard time with Roorback. It's more of a hardcore album. I love hardcore, but it's not what I want from Sepultura. The lack of solos from Andreas really made it feel flat. I dig A-lex, Mediator is one I haven't dived into enough.
Sepultura - I actually think Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation won't be of much interest to you. It's kind of first wave black metal. Schizophrenia is quite a bit harder than BTR and Arise. Again I don't know how you'd get on with that. Chaos AD starts off very strongly with the first 3 songs you'd probably love but then quickly soaks up their influences in punk and hardcore. Dead Kennedy's / New Model Army. Even a bit of Godflesh style repetition is creeping in, he was big pals around then with Alex Newport and Fudge Tunnel ain't your thing. As for the Derek Green era, I haven't heard a note but I have heard a lot of positive feedback over the years. It might be another Cannibal Corpse situation for you 🤷. They have just put out a vinyl box set off that era and it's usually very cheap. Mr Boulder showed it a bit back.
Darcy, you really need to stop emphasizing the A in Asphyx and focus more on the S because every time you say the name is sounds like Ass-Fix and I can’t stop laughing lol.
I’m going to get that right next time, I promise! . I know you’re just trying to help, I’m glad you got a good laugh out of it. Hope you stop by for my Ass-Fix Al-bum ranking 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Doro - world gone wild 6CD Box Set (first 6 albums). Cheap way to fill up your collection. Couple of them are on sale on Canadian e-bay. Sepultura - The Complete Max Cavalera Collection 1987-1996. The only box set you need of them. Getting rare so the price is higher but well worth it, Again, a couple of sellers on Canadian e-bay. If there is ever another Loudness box released, i will get it for sure. There are some around but waaaaaaaaaaay too expensive. take care me ode
I also had a couple of Soulfly albums, could never get into them, I should probably go back and try again! I will check out that Doro box set, thanks for letting me know 🤘 Cheers Neil
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 excellent stuff. I hope you like them. I'm biased regarding Doro any way. I think she's been awesome all thru her career, ALWAYS gives 110% live. First saw her with Warlock in '86, opening Bon Jovi's Donington headliner show, then a few weeks later supporting W.A.S.P. saw her last year at the Stonedead Festival in the Uk. still rocking out.

Thank you for the help and the recommendations, you may very well see some of these albums in future update videos 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
Finnish band Tarot, because it's your style of traditional heavy metal.
HUNTRESS! Only three albums ,a very short catalog, but Jill Janus- what a vocalist she was! If you haven't,please check out this band!
The vocals are a perfect fit for this style of Metal. I’ll check out Symphorce. Thanks recommendation & thanks for watching 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
I think morbid visions by Sepultura is more black metal if you're into that
Hey Darcy I have a few of the Derek Green sepultura albums and personally I think their solid but lot of people don't give them the time of day because it can't be sepultura without max! machine messia is one to check out from the latter years my friend
Thanks for the recommendation, I will check it out 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
all the early Loudness albums are great stuff their artwork has never been great tho lol
@@folden2008 You’ll have to send me a picture of your Loudness collection, I know you have quite a few!
Hey Darcy. Great video man. With Sepultura - I’d suggest going back to Schizophrenia (especially being a trash guy) and also go forward with Quadra for a taste of Derrick Green.
Take care
Schizophrenia is one I will definitely check out, it’s come up in the comments a few times. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
Did you get Max's re-recording of Schizophrenia under Cavalera? I got the first 2 albums he re-recorded because I was never a fan of those first 2 albums, but I was always happy how Schizophrenia sounded, so I passed.
@ I did. That album didn’t need a re-recording, I agree. But I’m a Sepultura fan boy so, yeah, bought the LP and the CD.
Schizophrenia is great by Sepultura too. the debut is cool if you lke more caveman stuff. Sepultura completely lost it in the 90's.
Looks like your plea to Andy worked.
Yes I was so happy to see his notification pop up, can’t wait to watch it 😊
Asphyx-honestly,every album by them is worth having. You see the band's name- you buy it! Btw, are you familiar with God Dethroned? If you like Asphyx you should also like God Dethroned. I recommend their ""Ravenous"" album. Brilliant.
obvioulsy you need chaos AD - and you should be fine :)
I ordered it last night, this time I’ll keep it lol. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Keep up the good work my friend. Greetings from Nicosia in Cyprus. Metal fan since late 80s here as well. I very much enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the kind words, I hope to talk to you again 🤘
ARTILLERY-Please,please,check out Fear Of Tomorrow again. A dark cross between thrash and proto-death metal. This album introduced me into metal. As far as their new stuff goes, their album ""Legions"" is pretty good. A new vocalist,a new energy. Their ""My Blood"" album is also not bad.
I will give Fear Of Tomorrow a proper listen. So cool that’s the album that got you into Metal. Thanks as always my friend 🤘
I have Liquid Monster on the way, it’s so good! I hope it’s warmer your way, -30C here today 🥶
@darcysixstringsnineli cold here as well. Next week it gets brutal.
You need Disillusion
Duly noted 🤘
Sepultura - Besides the two you have - Schizophrenia, Chaos A.D , Roots, Against, Nation, Roorback, Dante, Kairos, Mediator, Machine Messiah and Quadra are all essential in my opinion.
Morbid Visions and A-lex, not so much
Doro - Don't bother. She moves farther and farther away from metal with every solo album
Artillery - First three are bangers.
Schizophrenia is definitely on the list, I think I’ll pick up Chaos A.D. again too! Thanks for all the great feedback 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
That must be why I got rid of Chaos A.D. in the first place, I think I’ll give it another chance.
Some of the newer Artillery feks When Death Comes you should get.
What about Brainstorm where should i start alone based on the ones you have?
@RandarosMusicworld Try Scary Creatures, I love that one!
Roots bad stick with the other go Backward.
Ehh…you’re good with Sepultura. Haha
lol thanks brother 🤘
If I can throw my 2 cents in on this great topic vid, definitely check out and add to your collection the first couple of Sepultura and Artillery albums 🤘🤘
