You are a trailblazer, I would like to thank you for getting these spectacular athletes their own tournament. Can’t wait to see them compete for the full 3 weeks.
I would have thought the ASO would be grateful for influential and inspirational people promoting the TdF Femme, especially as they've done so little over the decades. Congratulations to your son. Congratulations to you and Rob and keep doing what you do, because you're great!
They go overboard. Not just the lawyers and bean-counters, they let bots stomp on everyone and sort it out afterwards because they would rather hurt your channel than take a chance that someone watches their content without paying. It's a sad state of affairs in the copyright world. I don't think they realize how much it will hurt their reputation.
Tour de Tietema got into trouble when they held a wheelie challenge in the TdF for men. Apparently the organisers have a problem with any race footage, no matter who made it. So they now do it during a rest day...
I think contacting the ASO was a smart move. From what I've heard, if you appeal a strike on RUclips directly, there's nothing you can do about the outcome, and if your appeal gets denied, your channel will be seriously limited. A lot of those copyright things are automated, and quite possibly some times, someone is just going through all the automatic copyright claims to decide what to put a strike on. That someone then will likely have no idea who you are, what your video is about and what your history with the race is. I once saw a guy get a copyright strike from Sony after making a video about a court case against Sony, in which he actually defended them. Copyright is important, but YT's way of handling it is just broken, and creator's rights just aren't well represented at all. If you can't get this resolved with the ASO directly, the best piece of advice is probably to just let the strike expire. Us folks who are watching your videos will see them, anyway. And we also watch out for your posts announcing new videos on your other social media channels (at least that's what I do). This is much more of a big deal for creators with hundreds of thousands or millions of subscribers who made RUclips their full time job. It literally destroys their livelihood with one semi automated click by an anonymous party in a dark back room. Much more importantly though, huge congrats to your son, and all the best for this new, exciting part of his journey.
I do think that it was an automatic strike because if they were to actually look at it they could see that it's all my own content and even me showing the race on Rhian's phone should fall under fair use surely? I'll wait to hear from them, but I don't hold up much hope so I think yes I'll just ride out the next 89 days of the strike and hope no more come my way! I've edited my Stage 2 video where I showed Rhian and I watching the race at the side of the road too, just in case! Thanks for the kind words about my son, so relieved and happy!!!
@@MyLouTube Yes, I'd also call that fair use. But even if it isn't, it would be great to actually get to talk to someone with issues like that. If the ASO says, no, you can't have that in your video, please take it down, then fair enough. Of course that'll also limit their exposure, because you're essentially doing free advertising for them. But that's besides the point. The problem is that you don't get to talk to someone, but just get an anonymous copyright strike that you can't even appeal without almost certainly facing very serious repercussions for your channel. The system is broken, there's no healthy way of communicating.
With music, I’ve always thought the person playing music in a public place should be liable for interfering with a RUclipsr’s video. Your case though is different & interesting and to me more understandable.
Well hopefully your copyright strike gets resolved bit late as I've watched it now. Good luck with the training for Denmark and the house move, well done to the lad on his exam results.
Hi Lou I hope this works out, you mentioned the Mans Tour I’ve been trying to find that but I’m having trouble, could you please post up a link to that for me, keep up the great work with you and Rob it sure makes for great viewing…😀😀😀😘😘🚲🚲🚲
I wouldn't worry over one of these YT strikes Lou. Seen it time & time again on various CH's. Always comes to nothing. Not enough hours in the day to effectively "police" what's legal / illegal. How many vids & vlogs are out there just from some billionairess screeching through 5 nights at Wembley ! Football games ( Sky not happy chickens ! ) How many vlogs across the planet, catching music in the background ? 🎵 Don't worry, be happy 🎵
@@MyLouTube Weird one Lou, seriously. If it has gone as far as TDF Towers, surely any publicity regarding Le Femmes is to be embraced ! Only "biting the hand that feeds" other women finding inspiration and maybe subscribing to watch the race in full ! As well as the likes of your "behind the scenes" fun vlogs ! Just can't see the point of someone "throwing their toys out of the pram" over literally a couple of seconds of broadcast ! :( Hopefully it'll just evaporate. @@johnmcnulty1129 yes I agree with you. I don't believe it's gone as far as TDF Towers, I believe it's some auto thing that's a bit over zealous. I've emailed them and we'll see what happens. Hahaha you're right about my race prep! I'm going to head over and do my best!
Hmm, I've just had 2 copyright strikes in the last week from ASO, the first time for me in 15 years. In fact it's a 3rd party acting on behalf of ASO. Completely randomly picked out 2 of my videos, one from Criterium Dauphine in June, and like you one from TdF Femmes on Col du Glandon. All my content is filmed by me using my phone with no ASO footage. I have challenged them both and the 3rd party acting for ASO has 10 days to respond.
Wow that’s crazy. Somewhat reassuring that it’s not just me though! I actually did film some coverage on a phone so I understand the issue, but it would make more sense to make me delete that part, not the whole video! I’m slightly terrified that a bunch of mine will hit the same fate and only 2 more and my channel is gone?! How did you challenge them? The link RUclips sent? I emailed that 3rd party company TMG but I don’t hold much hope for them reading it and actually emailing me back?
I know nothing about copyright strikes regarding YT channels, however, I do know that I love the TdF as a race, however, I HATE the ASO and the power and influence that they both think that have and also try to exert over the whole of professional cycling.

It was Rhian watching it on her phone in the back seat of the car as we drove towards Liege. In one of my other videos I showed some in a bar too. Yikes I hope they aren’t coming for meeeeee 🙈
Very petty to say the least, I don't have much time for the ASO. The Tour is a complete cash cow for them and it seems they can't make enough money from it.
Yet they barely had any women’s race merch. Just all the men’s Tour stuff. Such a wasted opportunity for them to make even more money on stuff that we actually want!
I would love the chance to edit the video, I'd just take all the footage out where I recorded us watching the race on Rhian's phone. They didn't give me the chance though, they just hit me with a strike and deleted my video from RUclips.
Is there any way to talk to RUclips about the appeal of the strike? Seems like a fair use defense may apply. It's so petty for such a minimal use of the footage. You were recording the reactions to the results not so much
No I don’t think so, RUclips don’t get involved. They delete the video because they’ve been told to and just take the person’s word for it, it does all seem rather strange. Just glad this isn’t my livelihood!
@@MyLouTube I get that. Perhaps remove that part and reload. My real concerns are with the strike on your account more than anything. RUclips alone makes that determination.
@salsalawyer I think because I’m not exactly sure why it got deleted I’m worried about reloading even taking out the part where we watch the coverage on a phone in case I hit a 2nd strike 🙈
